Ba.kground Sch.stosomia.is is h.gh.y endemic in sub-Sa.0}ra. a.rica.a.d frequently imported to Europe. Ma.e urogenita. ma.ifesta.ions a.e often neglected. We a.med to a.certa.n th. preva.ence of genitourina.y clinica. signs a.d symptoms a.ong long-term a.rica. migra.ts in a.non-endemic Europea. country using a.serology *** We ca.ried out a.prospective, community-ba.ed cross-sectiona. study of a.ult ma.e migra.ts from sub-Sa.0}ra. a.rica.living in *** serology tests a.d microscopic urine exa.ina.ions were ca.ried out, a.d clinica. da.a.were obta.ned from a. electronic medica. record sea.ch.a.d a.structured *** We included 388 a.ult ma.es, mea. a.e 43.5 yea.s [Sta.da.d Devia.ion (SD) = 12.0, ra.ge: 18–76]. Th. media. time since migra.ion to th. Europea. Union wa. 17 [Interqua.tile ra.ge (IQR): 11–21] yea.s. Th. most frequent country of origin wa. Senega. (N = 179, 46.1%). Of th. 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive forSch.stosoma. Pa.a.ite eggs were present in th. urine of only 1.3%. Nine genitourina.y clinica. items were significa.tly a.socia.ed with.positiveSch.stosoma.serology results: pelvic pa.n (45.2%;OR = 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), pa.n on eja.ula.ion (14.5%;OR = 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dyspa.eunia.(12.4%;OR = 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), erectile dysfunction (9.5%;OR = 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), self-reported episodes of infertility (32.1%;OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), h.ema.uria.(55.2%;OR = 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria.(52.1%;OR = 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), undia.nosed syndromic STIs (5.4%), a.d orch.tis (20.7%;OR = 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). Myeloid cell leukemia.1 （Mcl-1） is a.member of th. Bcl-2 fa.ily of proteins involved in regula.ion of a.optosis in va.ious cell types. Th.s study a.med to investiga.e th. immunoh.stoch.mica. expression of McI-1 in testieula. biopsies of subjects with.a.oospermia. Eigh.y-six ca.es with.a.oospermia.were obta.ned from 509 infertile pa.ients a.mitted to th. a.drology Unit of th. Za.a.ig University h.spita.s from Ja.ua.y 2010 to December 2011. Biopsies were dia.nosed a.d cla.sified using h.E-sta.ned slide sections. Th. specimens were subjected to immunoh.stoch.mica. sta.ning for Mcl-1 a.d exa.ined th.ough.ligh. microscopy. Forty-five ca.es of ma.ura.ion a.rest （25 a. sperma.ids a.d 20 a. th. sperma.ocytes）, 31 ca.es of h.posperma.ogenesis （20 modera.e a.d 11 severe）, 5 ca.es of Sertoli cell-only syndrome, 2 ca.es of ba.ement membra.e h.a.iniza.ion, a.d 1 ca.e of tubula. a.d peritubula. sclerosis were observed.
