Vascular endothelial growth factor before and after locoregional treatment and its relation to treatment response in hepatocelluar carcinoma patients

Objective:To evaluate vascular endothelial growth factor(VEgF)levels in hepatocellular carcinoma patients before and after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)and percutaneous ethanol injection(PEI)and its relation to treatment ***:A total of 40 patients with unrespectable hepatocelluar carcinoma were assessed *** patients were suitable to be treated by TACE,while other 20patients were treated with *** VEgF levels were measured before and 1 month after each procedure by *** was assessed after 1 month according to Union Internationale Contre le Cancer evaluation criteria based on change in tumor size as measured by ***:There was no significant difference between TACE and PEI groups with regard to age,sex,tumor size,response to local therapy,or VEgF and alpha-fetoprotein before and after *** levels after TACE were significantly higher than before TACE[(298.1±123.6)pg/m L vs.(205.8±307.3)pg/m L;P=0.001].Also,VEgF levels were significantly higher after PEI than before PEI[(333.8±365.6)pg/m L vs.(245.3±301.8)pg/m L;P=0.000].Non-responders of both groups had significantly high VEgF levels than responder's,both before[(985.0±113.2)pg/m L vs.(117.1±75.3)pg/m L;Pg/m L vs.(171.0±94.7)pg/m L;P=0.000)].Conclusions:Both TACE and PEI were associated with an increase in serum VEgF in hepatocelluar carcinoma *** levels of VEgF before and after therapy were found in non-responders,suggesting that VEgF is a useful marker in predicting treatment response.

Worldwide, more than one million people die each year from hepatitis C virus(HCV) related diseases, and over 300 million people are chronically infected with hepatitis B or C. Egypt used to be on the top of the countries with heavy HCV burden. Some countries are making advances in elimination of HCV, yet multiple factors preventing progress; remain for the majority. These factors include lack of global funding sources for treatment, late diagnosis, poor data, and inadequate screening. Treatment of HCV in Egypt has become one of the top national priorities since 2007. Egypt started a national treatment program intending to provide cure for Egyptian HCV-infected patients. Mass HCV treatment program had started using Pegylated interferon and ribavirin between 2007 and 2014. Yet, with the development of highly-effective direct acting antivirals(DAAs) for HCV, elimination of viral hepatitis has become a real possibility. The Egyptian National Committee for the Control of Viral Hepatitis did its best to provide Egyptian HCV patients with DAAs. Egypt adopted a strategy that represents a model of care that could help other countries with high HCV prevalence rate in their battle against HCV. This review covers the effects of HCV management in Egyptian real life settings and the outcome of different treatment protocols. Also, it deals with the current and future strategies for HCV prevention and screening as well as the challenges facing HCV elimination and the prospect of future eradication of HCV.

The therapeutic effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid(gABA)on diabetes was spread as one of the alarming epidemics *** study aims to investigate the function of Lactobacillus brevis KLDS_(1.0727) and KLDS_(1.0373) strains as glutamic acid decarboxylase 65(gAD65)carriers capable of generating gABA by comparing in vitro free and freeze-dried models and gABA intervention in *** amplification of gad and in vitro i.e.,(growth rate,viability at different pH,bile tolerance,and survivability in simulated gastric juice)were *** vivo experiments were conducted in 7 groups of C57BL/6J *** group was injected with streptozotocin(Cont_(STZ),INSSTZ,LAC1_(STZ),LAC_(1MFDSTZ),LAC_(2STZ),LAC_(2MFDSTZ))daily except for the control(Cont).One group was injected with insulin(INSSTZ).The body weight and hyperglycemia in the blood were assessed weekly,post-euthanasia blood plasma parameters,insulin,and histological examination were *** indicated *** strains demonstrated a great tolerance to bile and simulated gastric juice in vitro(Pghest average glucose level(6.84±6.46)mmol/L while INS_(STZ) expressed dramatically decreed in glucose level and displayed a significant decline in the average of weekly blood glucose(−5.74±3.08)mmol/*** lowest body weight(ContSTZ)was(19.30±0.25)*** on the blood plasma analysis,*** strains improved good cholesterol properties,liver and kidney functions,where most of these parameters fall within the average the reference range and prevent the development of symptoms of type 1 diabetes in *** recommended,*** should be commonly distributed as a postbiotic gABA in pharmaceutical and nutritional applications.

A large subset of corneal pathologies involves the formation of new vessels(neovascularization), leading to compromised visual acuity. This article aims to review the clinical causes and presentations of corneal neovascularization(CNV) by examining the mechanisms behind common CNV-related corneal pathologies, with a particular focus on herpes simplex stromal keratitis,contact lenses-induced keratitis and CNV secondary to keratoplasty. Moreover, we reviewed CNV in the context of different types of corneal transplantation and keratoprosthesis, and summarized the most relevant treatment available so far.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) refers to a neuro-disorder wherean individual has long-lasting effects on communication and interaction *** information technologywhich employs artificial intelligence(AI) model has assisted in early identify ASD by using pattern *** advances of AI models assist in the automated identification andclassification of ASD, which helps to reduce the severity of the *** study introduces an automated ASD classification using owl searchalgorithm with machine learning (ASDC-OSAML) model. The proposedASDC-OSAML model majorly focuses on the identification and classificationof ASD. To attain this, the presentedASDC-OSAML model follows minmaxnormalization approach as a pre-processing stage. Next, the owl searchalgorithm (OSA)-based feature selection (OSA-FS) model is used to derivefeature subsets. Then, beetle swarm antenna search (BSAS) algorithm withIterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3) classification method was implied for ASDdetection and classification. The design of BSAS algorithm helps to determinethe parameter values of the ID3 classifier. The performance analysis of theASDC-OSAML model is performed using benchmark dataset. An extensivecomparison study highlighted the supremacy of the ASDC-OSAML modelover recent state of art approaches.

BACKgROUND Proton pump inhibitors are often used to prevent gastro-intestinal lesions induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory ***,they are not always effective against both gastric and duodenal lesions and their use is not devoid of side *** To explore the mechanisms mediating the clinical efficacy of STW 5 in gastroduodenal lesions induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),exemplified here by diclofenac,in a comparison to *** gastro-duodenal lesions were induced in rats by oral administration of diclofenac(5 mg/kg)for 6 successive *** group was given concurrently STW 5(5 mL/kg)while another was given omeprazole(20 mg/kg).A day later,animals were sacrificed,stomach and duodenum excised and divided into 2 segments:One for histological examination and one for measuring inflammatory mediators(tumor necrosis factorα,interleukins-1βand 10),oxidative stress enzyme(heme oxygenase-1)and apoptosis regulator(B-cell lymphoma 2).RESULTS Diclofenac caused overt histological damage in both tissues,associated with parallel changes in all parameters *** 5 and omeprazole effectively prevented these changes,but STW 5 superseded omeprazole in protecting against histological damage,particularly in the *** The findings support the therapeutic usefulness of STW 5 and its superiority over omeprazole as adjuvant therapy to NSAIDs to protect against their possible gastro-duodenal side effects.

Cyberbullying,a critical concern for digital safety,necessitates effective linguistic analysis tools that can navigate the complexities of language use in online *** tackle this challenge,our study introduces a new approach employing Bidirectional Encoder Representations from the Transformers(BERT)base model(cased),originally pretrained in *** model is uniquely adapted to recognize the intricate nuances of Arabic online communication,a key aspect often overlooked in conventional cyberbullying detection *** model is an end-to-end solution that has been fine-tuned on a diverse dataset of Arabic social media(SM)tweets showing a notable increase in detection accuracy and sensitivity compared to existing *** results on a diverse Arabic dataset collected from the‘X platform’demonstrate a notable increase in detection accuracy and sensitivity compared to existing methods.E-BERT shows a substantial improvement in performance,evidenced by an accuracy of 98.45%,precision of 99.17%,recall of 99.10%,and an F1 score of 99.14%.The proposed E-BERT not only addresses a critical gap in cyberbullying detection in Arabic online forums but also sets a precedent for applying cross-lingual pretrained models in regional language applications,offering a scalable and effective framework for enhancing online safety across Arabic-speaking communities.
