Atmospheric Disturbance Characteristics in the Lower-middle Stratosphere Inferred from Observations by the Round-Trip Intelligent Sounding System(RTISS)in China

Through multi-order structure function analysis and singularity measurement,the Hurst index and intermittent parameter are obtained to quantitatively describe the characteristics of atmospheric disturbance based on the round-trip intelligent sounding system(RTISS)in the lower-middle *** to the third-order structure function,small-scale gravity waves are classified into three states:stable,unstable,and accompanied by *** evolution of gravity waves is reflected by the variation of the third-order structure function over time,and the generation of turbulence is also *** atmospheric disturbance intensity parameter RT is defined in this paper and contains both wave disturbance(H_(1))and random intermittency(C_(1)).RT is considered to reflect the characteristics of atmospheric disturbance more reasonably than either of the above two *** addition,by obtaining the horizontal wavenumber spectrum from the flat-floating stage and the vertical wavenumber spectrum from the ascending and descending stages at the height range of18-24 km,we found that when the gravity wave activity is significantly enhanced in the horizontal direction,the amplitude of the vertical wavenumber spectrum below is significantly larger,which shows a significant impact of gravity wave activity on the atmospheric environment below.

Reliability Evaluation of Machine Center Components Based on Cascading Failure Analysis

In order to rectify the problems that the com- ponent reliability model exhibits deviation, and the evalu- ation result is low due to the overlook of failure propagation in traditional reliability evaluation of machine center components, a new reliability evaluation method based on cascading failure analysis and the failure influ- enced degree assessment is proposed. A direct graph model of cascading failure among components is established according to cascading failure mechanism analysis and graph theory. The failure influenced degrees of the system components are assessed by the adjacency matrix and its transposition, combined with the Pagerank algorithm. Based on the comprehensive failure probability function and total probability formula, the inherent failure proba- bility function is determined to realize the reliability evaluation of the system components. Finally, the method is applied to a machine center, it shows the following： 1） The reliability evaluation values of the proposed method are at least 2.5% higher than those of the traditional method; 2） The difference between the comprehensive and inherent reliability of the system component presents a positive correlation with the failure influenced degree ofthe system component, which provides a theoretical basis for reliability allocation of machine center system.

A progressive compression model of thoracic spinal cord injury in mice： function assessment and pathological changes in spinal cord

Non-traumatic injury accounts for approximately half of clinical spinal cord injury, including chronic spinal cord compression. However, previous rodent spinal cord compression models are mainly designed for rats, few are available for mice. Our aim is to develop a thoracic progressive compression mice model of spinal cord injury. In this study, adult wild-type C57BL/6 mice were divided into two groups： in the surgery group, a screw was inserted at T9 lamina to compress the spinal cord, and the compression was increased by turning it further into the canal（0.2 mm） post-surgery every 2 weeks up to 8 weeks. In the control group, a hole was drilled into the lamina without inserting a screw. The results showed that Basso Mouse Scale scores were lower and gait worsened. In addition, the degree of hindlimb dysfunction in mice was consistent with the degree of spinal cord compression. The number of motor neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord was reduced in all groups of mice, whereas astrocytes and microglia were gradually activated and proliferated. In conclusion, this progressive compression of thoracic spinal cord injury in mice is a preferable model for chronic progressive spinal cord compression injury.

Dear Editor,Fascin actin-bundling protein 1(Fascin,gene name:FSCN1)is the primary actin-bundling protein that clusters filaments into stable and bundled filopodia[1].In previous studies,elevated levels of Fascin promoted filopodia formation and enhanced the invasive ability of tumor cells,suggesting that Fascin is a target for therapeutic intervention[2,3].Therefore,it is necessary to elucidate the detailed molecular mechanism by which Fascin bundles F-actin filaments.

Dynamic Decode-and-Forward Relaying with Partial CSIT and Optimal Time Allocation

A Dynamic decode-and-forward(DDF)relaying protocol with partial Channel state information at the transmitter(CSIT) for a three-node half-duplex single-antenna network, which consists of a single sourcedestination pair and a relay, is proposed. A Diversity multiplexing tradeoff(DMT) analysis is presented, in which the DMT of the proposed protocol is derived in a closedform and an adaptive time allocation strategy is also developed to achieve the optimal performance. It is shown that time allocation with partial CSIT significantly improves the achievable DMT for DDF relaying. Moreover, unlike the existing DDF protocol with CSIT, which is performed with the assumption of long-term power constraint, the proposed protocol can be generalized to the practical scenarios where a strict short-term power constraint is often imposed on, due to the environmental safety and interference prevention.

Association of growth rate with hormone levels and myogenic gene expression profile in broilers

Background： The growth rate often varies among individual broilers of the same breed under a common management condition. To investigate whether a variation in the growth rate is associated with a difference in hormone levels and myogenic gene expression profile in broilers, a feeding trial was conducted with 10,000 newly hatched Ross 308 chicks in a commercial production facility under standard management. At 38 d of age,30 fast-, 30 medium-, and 30 slow-growing broilers were selected among 600 healthy male individuals. The levels of insulin-like growth factor-1（IGF-1）, triiodothyronine（T3）, thyroxine（T4）, and growth hormone in the serum or breast muscle were assayed by ELISA or RIA kits, and the expression levels of several representative pro-and anti-myogenic genes in the breast muscle were also measured by real-time ***： Results showed that both absolute and relative weights of the breast muscle were in linear positive correlations with the body weight of broilers（P 〈 0.001）. Fast-growing broilers had higher concentrations of IGF-1 than slow-growing broilers（P 〈 0.05） in both the serum and breast muscle. The serum concentration of T3 was significantly higher in fast-growing birds than in slow-growing birds（P 〈 0.05）. However, no difference was observed in growth hormone or T4 concentration among three groups of birds. Additionally, a decreased expression of an anti-myogenic gene（myostatin） and increased expressions of pro-myogenic genes such as myogenic differentiation factor 1, myogenin, muscle regulatory factor 4, myogenic factor 5, IGF-1, and myocyte enhancer factor 2B, C, and D were observed in fast-growing broilers（P 〈 0.05）, relative to slow-growing ***： Collectively, these findings suggested that the growth rate is linked to the hormone and myogenic gene expression levels in broiler chickens. Some of these parameters such as serum concentrations of IGF-1 and T3 could be employed to breed for enhanced growth.

Extraction Fuzzy Linguistic Rules from Neural Networks for Maximizing Tool Life in High-speed Milling Process

In metal cutting industry it is a common practice to search for optimal combination of cutting parameters in order to maximize the tool life for a fixed minimum value of material removal rate（MRR）. After the advent of high-speed milling（HSM） pro cess, lots of experimental and theoretical researches have been done for this purpose which mainly emphasized on the optimization of the cutting parameters. It is highly beneficial to convert raw data into a comprehensive knowledge-based expert system using fuzzy logic as the reasoning mechanism. In this paper an attempt has been presented for the extraction of the rules from fuzzy neural network（FNN） so as to have the most effective knowledge-base for given set of data. Experiments were conducted to determine the best values of cutting speeds that can maximize tool life for different combinations of input parameters. A fuzzy neural network was constructed based on the fuzzification of input parameters and the cutting speed. After training process, raw rule sets were extracted and a rule pruning approach was proposed to obtain concise linguistic rules. The estimation process with fuzzy inference showed that the optimized combination of fuzzy rules provided the estimation error of only 6.34 m/min as compared to 314 m/min of that of randomized combination of rule s.

We explore the exceptional point(EP)induced phase transition and amplitude/phase modulation in thermal diffusion *** start from the asymmetric coupling double-channel model,where the temperature field is unbalanced in the amplitude and locked in the symmetric *** extending into the one-dimensional tight-binding non-hermitian lattice,we study the convection-driven phase locking and the asymmetric-couplinginduced diffusive skin effect with the high-order EPs in static *** convection and asymmetric couplings,we further show the phase-locking diffusive skin *** work reveals the mechanism of controlling both the amplitude and phase of temperature fields in thermal coupling systems and has potential applications in non-hermitian topology in thermal diffusion.

Safety and Efficacy of a Novel Technique in the Use of Fractional Flow Reserve in Complex Coronary Artery Lesions

Background:Fractional flow reserve (FFR) has become an increasingly important index when making decisions with respect to revascularization of coronary artery ***,the pressure guidewire used in obtaining FFR measurements is difficult to control and manipulate in certain complex coronary artery lesions,resulting in increased fluoroscopy time and contrast dye *** study examined a novel (NOV) technique for obtaining FFR measurements in hope of easing the difficulties associated with evaluating and treating complex coronary artery ***:Fifty-six patients with complex coronary artery lesions were assigned to a conventional (CON) FFR technique group or a NOV FFR technique *** NOV technique involved the use of a balloon and wire exchange within the coronary *** fluoroscopy time,contrast dye usage,and FFR-related complications were assessed after completing the FFR measurement procedure for each ***:The median time required for fluoroscopy in the NOV technique group was significantly less than that in the CON technique group; additionally,lesser amounts of contrast dye were used in the NOV technique group (both P ＜ 0.05).The NOV technique was successfully performed in thirty patients,without any FFR-related ***,the CON technique failed in three patients,including two who experienced coronary artery spasms (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions:Compared to the CON technique used for measuring FFR,the new technique reduced the fluoroscopy time and amount of contrast dye used when evaluating complex coronary artery *** new technique did not increase the risk of operation or decrease the success rate.

Adsorption-oxidation of hydrogen sulfide on Fe/walnut-shell activated carbon surface modified by NH_3-plasma

Walnut-shell activated carbon（WSAC） supported ferric oxide was modified by non-thermal plasma（NTP）, and the removal efficiency for hydrogen sulfide over Fe/WSAC modified by dielectric barrier discharge（DBD） was significantly promoted. The sample modified for10 min and 6.8 k V output（30 V input voltage） maintained 100% H2 S conversion over a long reaction time of 390 min. The surface properties of adsorbents modified by NTP under different conditions were evaluated by the methods of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller（BET） analysis and in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, to help understand the effect of the NTP treatment. NTP treatment enhanced the adsorption capacity of Fe/WSAC, which could due to the formation of micro-pores with sizes of0.4, 0.5 and 0.75 nm. XPS revealed that chemisorbed oxygen changed into lattice oxygen after NTP treatment, and lattice oxygen is beneficial for H2 S oxidation. From the in-situ FTIR result,transformation of the reaction path on Fe/WSAC was observed after NTP modification. The research results indicate that NTP is an effective method to improve the surface properties of the Fe/WSAC catalyst for H2 S adsorption-oxidation.
