Heating-only fan coil(HFC)is one of the suited end users,which is not only compact but also highly *** the major factors affecting the heat dissipation performance of HFC include leakage through coil bypass,distance between fan and coil,fan structure and air inlet *** natural air convection or forced,experimental studies were made on the effects of these factors upon the heat dissipation performance of *** results show that:1)After reducing the leakage through coil bypass,the heat dissipation of HFC increases 16.9% under natural convection,and increases 8.3% under forced convection.2)After the distance between fan and coil be raised from 23.2cm to 41.7cm,the heat dissipation of HFC decreases 21.3% under natural convection,but increases12.8% under forced convection.3)After changing the fan structure,the heat dissipation of HFC increases 41.8% under natural convection,and the heat dissipation per motor power increases 96.1% under forced convection.4)The heat dissipations of HFC with round pass,slit and strip type of air inlet are different,whose proportion is about 100%,110%,136% under natural convection,and 100%,105%,116% under forced convection.

From the view of both objective and subjective factors,the indoor air quality(IAQ)evaluation was *** dioxide(CO2)and formaldehyde(HCHO)were selected as the typical contaminants of indoor air,and the evaluation method of logarithmic index was adopted as the evaluation means of *** the recommended limits(RL)of typical contaminants CO2 and HCHO were given through analysis and *** limits of CO2 and HCHO in Indoor Air Quality Standard of China or other existing standards probably correspond to the level of PD=25(%).The result shows that the existing standards fail to meet the requirement of the definition of "acceptable indoor air quality",that is to say,less than 20% of the people express *** PD=20%,RL of CO2 and HCHO are 728×10-6 and 0.068×10-6 respectively,which are stricter than the limits in the existing *** method proposed in this paper is applicable to 13.1%≤PD≤86.7%.

The effects of phosphorus and nitrogen limitation on polyhydroxyalkanoate （PHA） production and accumulation by activated sludge biomass with acetate as a carbon source were investigated. Pre-selected influent carbon-phosphorus （C：P, W/W） of 100, 160, 250, 500 and 750, and carbon-nitrogen （C：N, W/W） of 20, 60, 100, 125 and 180 were applied in the phosphorus limitation experiments and the nitrogen limitation experiments, respectively. The maximum PHA accumulation up to 59% of the cell dry weight with a PHA productivity of 1.61 mg PHA/mg COD consumed was observed at the C：N 125 in the nitrogen limitation experiment. This value was much higher than that obtained in previous studies with a normal substrate feeding. The study showed that activated sludge biomass would produce more polyhydroxybutyrate than polyhydroxyvalerate under the stress of nutrient limitation, especially under phosphorus limitation conditions. The experimental result also indicated that both phosphorus and nitrogen limitation may cause sludge bulking.

Enhanced anaerobic biodegradability of real coal gasification wastewater with methanol addition

Coal gasification effluent is a typical refractory industrial wastewater with a very poor anaerobic biodegradability due to its toxicity. Methanol was introduced to improve anaerobic biodegradability of real coal gasification wastewater, and the effect of methanol addition on the performance was investigated in a mesophilic upflow anaerobic sludge bed reactor with a hydraulic retention time of 24 hr. Experimental results indicated that anaerobic treatment of coal gasification wastewater was feasible with the addition of methanol. The corresponding maximum COD and phenol removal rates were 71% and 75%, respectively, with methanol concentration of 500 mg COD/L for a total organic loading rate of 3.5 kg COD/（m^***） and a phenol loading rate of 0.6 kg/（m^***）. The phenol removal rate was not improved with a higher methanol concentration of 1000 mg COD/L. Substrate utilization rate （SUR） tests indicated that the SURs of phenol were 106, 132, and 83 mg phenol/（g ***） at methanol concentrations of 250, 500, and 1000 mg COD/L, respectively, and only 45 mg phenol/（g ***） in the control reactor. The presence of methanol could reduce the toxicity of coal gasification wastewater and increase the biodegradation of phenolic compounds.

SnO2 electrodes have many advantages in the degradation of toxic or bio-refractory organic wastewater,and SnO2 is a kind of anode material which has the potential to be widely *** effi-ciency and service life of Ti\SnO2 electrodes are key factors that can influence its *** order to enhance the electrocatalytic characteristics of Ti\SnO2 electrodes,a type of electrocatalytic electrode with nanocoating was prepared by direct current(DC)electrodeposition method and thermal oxidation *** phenol as the model pollutant,the electrochemical degradation efficiencies of elec-trodes with nanocoating and non-nanocoating were *** was demonstrated that the elec-trodes with nanocoating have higher efficiency than that of electrodes with *** degradation time was decreased 33.3% for the same amount of phenol's *** crystal structure of surface coating,the micrograph of electrode surface and the chemical environment of Sn and Sb in the electrode surface were analyzed with the help of XRD,SEM and *** results showed that the surface of electrode was mainly SnO2 crystal with rutile structure and that much adsorbed oxygen in nanocoating was the dominant factor for enhancing the electrocatalytic characteristics.

The innovative process consists of biological unit for wastewater treatment and ozonation unit for excess sludge treatment. An aerobic membrane bioreactor(MBR) was used to remove organics and nitrogen, and an anaerobic reactor was added to the biological unit for the release of phosphorus contained at aerobic sludge to enhance the removal of phosphorus. For the excess sludge produced in the MBR, which was fed to ozone contact column and reacted with ozone, then the ozonated sludge was returned to the MBR for further biological treatment. Experimental results showed that this process could remove organics, nitrogen and phosphorus efficiently, and the removals for COD, NH 3-N, TN and TP were 93.17%, 97.57%, 82.77% and 79.5%, respectively. Batch test indicated that the specific nitrification rate and specific denitrification rate of the MBR were 1.03 mg NH 3-N/(gMLSS·h) and 0.56 mg NOx-N/(gMLSS·h), and denitrification seems to be the rate-limiting step. Under the test conditions, the sludge concentration in the MBR was kept at 5000—6000 mg/L, and the wasted sludge was ozonated at an ozone dosage of 0.10 kgO 3/kgSS. During the experimental period of two months, no excess sludge was wasted, and a zero withdrawal of excess sludge was implemented. Through economic analysis, it was found that an additional ozonation operating cost for treatment of both wastewater and excess sludge was only 0.045 RMB Yuan(USD 0.0054)/m 3 wastewater.

This paper presented a preliminary research on the central solar heating system with seasonal storage(CSHSSS)used in cold climate in China.A mathematical model of the solar energy seasonal storage water tank used in the central solar heating system was firstly developed based on energy *** was followed by the simulation of the CSHSSS used in a two-floor villa in harbin,and analysis of the impacts on storage water temperature of tank volume,solar collector area,tank burial depth,insulation thickness around the tank,*** results show there is a relatively economical tank volume to optimize the system efficiency,which decreases with increasing tank volume at the constant collector area,and increases with increasing collector area at the constant tank ***,the insulation thickness has obvious effect on avoiding heat loss,while the tank burial depth doesn'*** addition,the relationship between the solar collector efficiency and storage water temperature is also obtained,it decreases quickly with increasing storing water temperature,and then increases slowly after starting space heating *** may be helpful for relevant design and optimization in cold climates in China and all over the world.

In order to investigate the correlation between reactor performance and the microorganisms,an integrated A/O reactor was operated for 72 days to treat diluted livestock *** oxygen demand （COD） removal efficiency increased from 79% to 94%,with total nitrogen （TN） removal efficiency from 37% to 50% （HRT 7.4 hr） when the influent COD and TN were ca.1500 mg/L and 95 mg/L,respectively,and the outlet COD concentration was less than 100 mg/L at the *** community was monitored during start-up period by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （DGGE） based on 16S rRNA *** profiles showed that microbial community had changed significantly during the start-up and these shifts were in accordance with the reactor *** clustering analysis showed that 14 anaerobic samples fell into five main groups and so did the aerobic ones,but the grouping patterns were *** analysis indicated that microbial populations in the anaerobic compartment belonged to Firmicutes,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi and Bacteroidetes,while Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,Verrucomicrobiae and Nitrospira were present in the aerobic *** the anaerobic compartment,more fermentative and acetogenic bacteria were detected during the start-up while denitrifying bacteria faded *** functional populations such as Nitrospira defluvii and Dechloromonas denitrificans were observed when nitrogen removal was high,indicating that simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in the aerobic compartment.

Monitoring microbial community structure and succession of an A/O SBR during start-up period using PCR-DGGE

Polymerase chain reaction （PCR）-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （DGGE） protocol was employed for revealing microbial community structure and succession in a sequential anaerobic and aerobic reactor performing enhanced biological phosphorus removal （EBPR） during start-up period. High phosphorus removal was achieved after 15 d. On day 30, phosphorus removal efficiency reached to 83.2% and the start-up was finished. DGGE profiles of periodical sludge samples showed that dominant microbial species were 19 OTUs （operational taxonomy units）. Unweighted pair-group method using arithmetic averages （UPGMA） clustering analysis revealed that rapid community succession correlated to low phosphorus removal rate and high phosphorus removal efficiency reflected on steady community structure. Sequencing results indicated that determined sequences （12 OTUs） belonged to Proteobacterium, Actinobacteria, Gemmatimonadales and unaffiliate group. Proteobacterium, Tetrasphaera elongate and Gemmatimonas aurantiaca may act important roles in phosphorus removal. With little amount as known glycogen accumulating organisms, Candidatus Competibacter phosphatis still at accumulating-phase had limited effect on microbial community structure. When climax community was obtained, dominant microbes were 14 OTUs. Microbes in a large amount were uncultured bacterium Thauera sp., uncultured y-Proteobacterium and Tetrasphaera elongata.
