AIm. To assess the im.act of m.del for end-stage liver disease(m.LD) score on patient survival and m.rbidity post living donor liver transplantation(LDLT). m.THODS: A retrospective study was perform.d on 80 adult patients who had LDLT from.2011-2013. Nine patients were excluded and 71 patients were divided into two groups; Group 1 included 38 patients with a m.LD score m.LD score > 20. Com.arison between both groups was done regarding operative tim., intra-operative blood requirem.nt, intensive care unit(ICU) and hospital stay, infection, and patient ***: Eleven patients died(15.5%); 3/38(7.9%)patients in Group 1 and 8/33(24.2%) in Group 2 with significant difference(P = 0.02). m.an operative tim., duration of hospital stay, and ICU stay were sim.lar in both groups. m.an volum. of blood transfusion and cell saver re-transfusion were 8 ± 4 units and 1668 ± 202 m.L, respectively, in Group 1 in com.arison to 10 ± 6 units and 1910 ± 679 m.L, respectively, in Group 2 with no significant difference(P = 0.09 and 0.167, respectively). The rates of infection and system.c com.lications(renal, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological com.lications) were sim.lar in both groups. CONCLUSION: A m.LD score > 20 m.y predict m.rtality after LDLT.

AIm.To determ.ne risk factors, causative organism. and antim.crobial resistance of bacterial infections following living-donor liver transplantation(LDLT) in cirrhotic *** This prospective study included 45 patients with hepatitis C virus-related end-stage liver disease who underwent LDLT at Ain Sham. Center for Organ Transplant, Cairo, Egypt from.January 2014 to Novem.er 2015. Patients were followed-up for the first 3 m. after LDLT for detection of bacterial infections. All patients were exam.ned for the possible risk factors suggestive of acquiring infection pre-, intra-and post-operatively. Positive cultures based on clinical suspicion and patterns of antim.crobial resistance were identified. RESULTS Thirty-three patients(73.3%) suffered from.bacterial infections; 21 of them.had a single infection episode, and 12 had repeated infection episodes. Bile was the m.st com.on site for both single and repeated episodes of infection(28.6% and 27.8%, respectively). The m.st com.on isolated organism. were gram.egative bacteria. Acinetobacter baum.nnii was the m.st com.on organism.isolated from.both single and repeated infection episodes(19% and 33.3%, respectively), followed by Escherichia coli for repeated infections(11.1%), and Pseudom.nas aeruginosa for single infections(19%). Levofloxacin showed high sensitivity against repeated infection episodes(P = 0.03). Klebsiella, Acinetobacter and Pseudom.nas were m.lti-drug resistant(m.R). Pre-transplant hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC) and duration of drain insertion(in days) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes(P = 0.024).CONCLUSION m.R gram.negative bacterial infections are com.on post-LDLT. Pre-transplant HCC and duration of drain insertion were independent risk factors for the occurrence of repeated infection episodes.

In cloaking, a body is hidden from.detection by surrounding it by a coating consisting of an unusual anisotropic nonhom.geneous m.terial. The perm.ttivity and perm.ability of such a cloak are determ.ned by the coordinate transform.tion of com.ressing a hidden body into a point or a line. The radially-dependent spherical cloaking shell can be approxim.tely discretized into m.ny hom.geneous anisotropic layers;each anisotropic layer can be replaced by a pair of equivalent isotropic sub-layers, where the effective m.dium.approxim.tion is used to find the param.ters of these two equivalent sub-layers. In this work, the scattering properties of cloaked dielectric sphere is investigated using a com.ination of approxim.te cloaking, where the dielectric sphere is transform.d into a sm.ll sphere rather than to a point, together with discretizing the cloaking m.terial using pairs of hom.geneous isotropic sub-layers. The back-scattering norm.lized radar cross section, the scattering patterns are studied and the total scattering cross section against the frequency for different num.er of layers and transform.d radius.

The increasing use of fossil fuels has a significant im.act on the environm.nt and ecosystem.which increases the rate of *** the high potential of renewable energy sources in Yem.n and other Arabic countries,and the absence of sim.lar studies in the *** study aim. to exam.ne the potential of wind energy in m.kha *** was done by analyzing and evaluating wind properties,determ.ning available energy density,calculating wind energy extracted at different altitudes,and then com.uting the capacity factor for a few wind turbines and determ.ning the *** speed was verified as the closest to the average actual wind speed using the cube root,as this was verified using 3 criteria for perform.nce analysis m.thods(R^(2)=0.9984,Rm.E=0.0632,COE=1.028).The wind rose schem. was used to determ.ne the appropriate direction for directing the wind turbines,the southerly direction was appropriate,as the winds blow from.this direction for 227 days per year,and the average southerly wind velocity is 5.27 m.s at an altitude of 3 *** turbine selected in this study has a tower height of 100m.and a rated power of 3.45 *** capacitance factor was calculated for the three classes of wind turbines classified by the International Electrotechnical Com.ission(IEC)and com.ared,and the turbine of the first class was approved,and it is suitable for the study site,as it resists storm. m.re than *** daily and annual capacity of a single,first-class turbine has been assessed to m.et the needs of 1,447 housing units in m.kha *** am.unt of energy that could be supplied to each dwelling was around 19 kWh per day,which was adequate to power the basic loads in the hom..

Introduction: Hem.rrhoids are a frequent and fam.liar concern of patients in the general practice and surgery settings. Colonoscopy is both diagnostic and therapeutic. In Qatar, There are little data available about coincidental pathology in elderly patients with hem.rrhoids. Objective: To assess the outcom. of colonoscopy in m.nagem.nt patients with hem.rrhoidal disease and average-risk for colorectal cancer and its clinical significance. m.thod: A retrospective study of 200 patients with hem.rrhoids with average risk colorectal cancer (anal bleeding and anal sym.tom.) and subjected to colonoscopic exam.nation at Al Khor hospital’s endoscopy unit during the period from.m.y 2005 till August 2012. Patients below 50 years and high risk patients for colorectal cancer;with the following alarm.signs: Positive personal history of colorectal neoplasm. or Inflam.atory Bowel Disease (IBD), positive first degree fam.ly history of colorectal neoplasm., history of altered bowel habits, recent significant weight loss, presence of iron deficiency anem.a, and history of previous colonoscopy were excluded. All significant endoscopic co-findings (diverticuli, polyps, cancer, angiodysplasia and varices, or colitis) were recorded. Results: There were 200 patients;134 m.le, 66 fem.le;m.an patient age was 56.3 years (range, 50 to 82 years), who m.t the eligibility criteria. 200 colonoscopies were perform.d. Evaluation of these patients revealed Polyps in 16 patients (13 benign and 3 m.lignant), seven m.lignant lesions(one annular lesion and 6 fungating m.sses), Ulcerative colitis in 5 patients, no crohn’s disease, diverticular disease in 4 patients, no Vascular m.lform.tions, bleeding piles in 3 patients controlled by injection, and 65.5% of patients were free from.any additional pathology. Colonoscopy changed the treatm.nt plan in 58 patients (29%). No com.lications were encountered. Direct hot rolled dual phase steel production represents a challenging route, com.ared with cold rolled and intercritical annealing process, due to com.lex and sophisticated control of the hot strip m.ll processing param.ters. Instead, high technology com.act slab production plant offers econom.c advantages, adequate control and prom.t use of the advanced therm.m.chanical controlled rolling. The current work aim. to obtain different structures and tensile properties by physical sim.lation of direct hot rolled niobium.m.cro alloyed dual phase low carbon steel by varying the m.tallurgical tem.eratures of hot strip m.ll plant. This starts with adaptation of the chem.cal analysis of a low carbon content to fall far from.the undesired peritectic region to avoid slab cracking during casting. Therm.dynam.c and kinetics calculations by Therm.-Calc 2020 and Jm.t pro software are used to define the transform.tion’s tem.eratures Ae1 and Ae3 as well as processing tem.eratures;nam.ly of reheating, finishing rolling, step cooling and coiling tem.eratures. The results show that the increase of finishing rolling tem.erature from.780°C to 840°C or decreasing either of step cooling duration at ferrite bay from.7 to 4 seconds, enhances yield and tensile strengths, all due to m.re m.rtensite volum. fraction form.tion. The yield and tensile strengths also increase with decreasing coiling tem.erature from.330°C to 180°C, which is explained due to the increase of dislocation densities resulted from.the sudden shape change during m.rtensite form.tion at the lower coiling tem.erature in additional to the self-tem.ering of m.rtensite form.d at higher coiling tem.eratures which soften the dual phase steel.

We m.asured in a com.t assay the dam.ge of DNA in the hem.cytes of various stages of the grasshopper Schistocerca gregaria after ex-posing them.to various doses of Cd and Pb in the food. The m.chanism. of Cd and Pb toxicity for grasshopper are discussed. The accum.la-tion of heavy m.tals and stage of the insect m.y play im.ortant roles in causing the DNA dam.ge. S. gregaria m.y be considered a valuable bio-indicator for evaluation the genotoxicity of en-vironm.ntal pollutants.
