The ever-improving technology to generate induced pluripotent stem cells （iPSCs） has increased their potential use as novel candidates for disease modeling, drug screening, regenerative medicine and cell therapy. Indeed, iPSCs offer extensive capacity for self-renewal without the ethical concerns faced by embryonic stem cells （ESCs）. With respect to potential applications in the immune system, many studies provide evidence to support that there are exclusive advantages to using iPSCs over other systems. Both hematopoietic stem cells and several types of mature immune cells have successfully been reprogrammed to iPSCs and vice versa, paving a path toward our ability to effectively model patient-specific diseases and provide potentially alternative cell sources for transfusion medicine. Despite these potential advances, some limitations regarding the use of iPSCs in the clinic still remain, including the immunogenicity of iPSCs and their derivatives, which is currently under debate in the field. In this review, we mainly focus on discussing the recent progress being made in the latest differentiation methods and clinical implications of iPSCs with respect to the immune system. Additionally, current issues regarding the clinical application of iPSCs are addressed, especially the controversy surrounding immunogenicity, along with various other perspectives.

Hydrolysis of olive oil catalyzed by Candida lipolytica lipase was investigated. The relative concentration of the components in the product was determined by using high performance liquid chromatography（HPLC）. Furthermore, a novel rapid method to detect the hydrolytic process of olive oil was developed based on the relationship between the acid value and the relative concentration of the different components.

The widespread application of direct ethanol fuel cells is hampered due to the low activity,high cost and poor operation durability of electrocatalysts for ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR).Herein,we report a one-pot synthetic method to synthesize PdPb3 nanochains with well-defined shape,size and composition via a solution-phase reduction *** morphology,composition distribution and structure characteristics of PdPb3 nanochains were investigated by transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray *** to the unique structure,the as-obtained PdPb3 nanochains can manifest much higher mass activity(2523 mA·mg-1)and higher operation durability than commercial Pd/C(1272 mA·mg-1)during the EOR *** importantly,further CO-stripping measurements indicate that the incorporation of Pb species could favor the oxidative removal of CO intermediates on the Pd electrode at the negative potential and enhance the EOR activity and stability,making it possible to develop highly active and durable electrocatalysts.

The title coordination polymer [Eu（PCPA）3（H2O）]n （PCPA = p-chlorophenoxyacetate） has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition, determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and characterized by FT-IR, UV-VIS and fluorescent spectra. The crystal belongs to triclinic system, space group PI^- with a = 7.8036（1）, b = 12.7458（4）, c = 14.0208（3） A, α = 81.610（8）, β = 79.406（8）, γ = 77.567（7）°, V = 1330.40（5） A^3, C24H20Cl3EuO10, Mr = 726.71, Z = 2, F（000） = 716, Dc= 1.814 g/cm^3, λ（MoKa） = 0.71073 A, μ（MoKα） = 2.713 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0284 and wR = 0.0678 for 5529 observed reflections with I 〉 2σ（I）. The europium ions are located in a nine-coordinate environment. PCPA ions with two different coordination modes connect the metal ions to form 1D zigzag chains which are arranged to generate 2D supramolecular layers by intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The luminescence properties of the rare-earth ions are studied in this paper.

Our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the development of pancreatic cancer has been greatly advanced. However, the molecular events involved in the initiation and development of pancreatic cancer remain inscrutable. None of the present medical technologies have been proven to be effective in significantly improving early detection or reducing the mortality/morbidity of this disease. Thus, a better understanding of the molecular basis of pancreatic cancer is required for the identification of more effective diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), generally including microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs, have recently been found to be deregulated in many human cancers, which provides new opportunities for identifying both functional drivers and specific biomarkers of pancreatic cancer. In this article, we review the existing literature in the field documenting the significance of aberrantly expressed and functional ncRNAs in human pancreatic cancer, and discuss how oncogenic ncRNAs may be involved in the genetic and epigenetic networks regulating functional pathways that are deregulated in this malignancy, particularly of the ncRNAs’ role in drug resistance and epithelial-mesenchymal transition biological phenotype, with the aim of analyzing the feasibility of clinical application of ncRNAs in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

As a new type of iron-based superconductor, CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has recently been demonstrated to be a promising platform for observing Majorana zero modes (MZMs). The surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) plays an important role in realizing the MZM since it hosts superconducting topological surface states. However, due to the complicated crystal structure, the terminal surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has not been determined yet. Here, by using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S), we find that there are two types of surface structure in CaKFe_(4)As_(4). Bias-dependent atomic resolution images show an evolvement from 2–√×2–√ superstructure with respect to the As lattice into 1 × 1 when the tip is brought close to the surface, revealing the sublattice of missing As atoms. Together with the first-principles calculations, we show that the surface As layer has a buckled structure. Our findings provide insight to future surface study of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) as well as other iron-pnictide superconductors.

GnRH sterilization vaccines have been developed for various practical and clinical reasons. However, conjugation of GnRH peptide to carrier protein has many drawbacks, hampering the further commercialization of GnRH vaccines. In this study, a new nonconjugated GnRH vaccine, D-Lys6-GnRH-tandem-dimer peptide （TDK）, emulsified in Specol adjuvant was investigated for its immunocastration efficacy in young male rats. Prepubertal male rats were randomly allocated into three groups （n = 12）： control （no treatment）, surgically castrated or immunized against 100 μg TDK in Specol adjuvant at 6 weeks of age （with a booster 8 weeks later）. Blood samples （for antibody titers and hormone concentrations） were collected at 2-week intervals until rats were killed （18 weeks of age）. Compared to intact controls, active immunization against TDK reduced （P〈 0.05） serum concentrations of testosterone, inhibin B, LH and FSH, prevented the onset of spermatogenesis at puberty. Furthermore, mRNA expressions of GnRH receptor, LH-β and FSH-β in the pituitary, LH receptor, FSH receptor, inhibin α, βA and βB subunit in the testes were decreased in immunocastrated rats compared to intact controls （P 〈 0.05）. These results demonstrate for the first time that GnRH-tandem-dimer peptide emulsified in Specol is a promising veterinary sterilization medicine.
