Adsorption thermodynamics and kinetic investigation of aromatic amphoteric compounds onto different polymeric adsorbents

The adsorption behavior ofp-aminobenzoic acid and o-aminobenzoic acid onto the different polymeric adsorbents was systematically investigated as a function of the solution concentration and temperature. Experimental results indicated that the equilibrium adsorption data of the four polymeric adsorbents fitted well in the Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption capacity of multi-functional polymeric adsorbent NJ-99 was the highest, which might be attributed to the strong hydrogen-bonding interaction between the amino groups on the resin and the carboxyl group of aminobenzoic acid. The adsorption capacity of o-aminobenzoic acid onto any adsorbent was higher than p-aminobenzoic acid. Thermodynamic studies suggested the exothermic, spontaneous physical adsorption process. Adsorption kinetics results showed that the adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics model and the intraparticle mass transfer process was the rate-controlling step.

The three-dimensional(3D) nano?uid ?ow among the rotating circular plates ?lled with nanoparticles and gyrotactic microorganisms is studied. A generalized form of the magnetic Reynolds number is used for the mathematical modeling of the ferro-nano?uid ?ow. The torque e?ects on the lower and upper plates are calculated.A di?erential transform scheme with the Pad′e approximation is used to solve the coupled highly nonlinear ordinary di?erential equations. The results show that the squeeze Reynolds number signi?cantly suppresses the temperature, microorganism, and nanoparticle concentration distribution, and agree well with those obtained by the numerical method.

Non-hepatocellular carcinoma （non-HCC） with macroscopic bile duct tumor thrombus （BDTI） formation is rare, few radiological studies have been reported. In this case report, we retrospectively analyzed the imaging findings of three cases of non-HCC with macroscopic BDTT on dynamic enhanced multislice computed tomography （MSCT） scan. One case of primary hepatic carcinosarcoma was presented as a solitary, large welldefined tumor with significant necrotic changes. One case of liver metastasis from colon cancer was presented as a Iobulated, large ill-defined tumor. One case of intraductal oncocytic papillary neoplasm involved the entire pancreas, presented as a cystic and solid mass with multilocular changes （the individual Ioculi were less than 5.0 mm in diameter）. The bile duct was dilated due to expansible growth of the BDFE in all three patients. The BDTT was contiguous with hepatic or pancreatictumor, and both of them showed the same enhancement patterns on dynamic contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan： early enhancement in the hepatic arterial phase and a quick wash out of contrast agent in the portal and equilibrium phases. Macroscopic BDTT- in non-HCC patient is rare, dynamic enhanced MSCT scan may be valuable in the diagnosis of non-HCC with BDTT.

Background and aims:Hepatic encephalopathy is a common complication encountered in patients with liver *** encephalopathy is not reflected in the current liver transplant allocation *** was sought between hepatic encephalopathy with findings detected on radiographic imaging studies and the patient’s clinical ***:A retrospective analysis was conducted of patients with cirrhosis,who presented for liver transplant evaluation in 2009 and *** with hepatocellular carcinoma,ejection fraction less than 60%and who had a TIPS(transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting)procedure or who did not complete the evaluation were *** analysis was performed and variables found to be significant on univariate analysis(Phalopathy group(n=58)and a control group(n=59).Univariate analysis found that a smaller portal vein diameter,smaller liver antero-posterior diameter,liver nodularity and use of diuretics or centrally acting medications showed significant correlation with hepatic *** association was confirmed for smaller portal vein,use of diuretics and centrally acting medications in the multivariate ***:A decrease in portal vein diameter was associated with increased risk of *** patients with smaller portal vein diameter may warrant screening for encephalopathy by more advanced psychometric testing,and more aggressive control of constipation and other factors that may precipitate encephalopathy.

It is well known that peripheral nerve injury should be treated immediately in the clinic, but in some instances, repair can be delayed. This study investigated the effects of immediate versus delayed （3 days after injury） neurorrhaphy on repair of transected sciatic nerve in New Zealand rabbits using stereological, histomorphological and biomechanical methods. At 8 weeks after immediate and delayed neurorrhaphy, axon number and area in the sciatic nerve, myelin sheath and epineurium thickness, Schwann cell morphology, and the mechanical property of nerve fibers did not differ obviously. These results indicate that delayed neurorrhaphy do not produce any deleterious effect on sciatic nerve repair.

The sputtering yield of the Si3N4 thin film is calculated by Monte Carlo method with different parameters. The dependences of the sputtering yield on the incident ion energy, the incident angle and the number of Gallium （Ga） and Arsenic （As） ions are predicted. The abnormal sputtering yield for As at 90 keV occurs when the incident angle reaches the range between 82° and 84°.
