Nose-to-brain delivery of macromolecules mediated by cell-penetrating peptides

Brain delivery of macromolecular therapeutics (e.g., proteins) remains an unsolved problem because of the formidable blood brain bather (BBB). Although a direct pathway of nose-to-brain transfer provides an answer to circumventing the BBB and has already been intensively investigated for brain delivery of small drugs, new challenges arise for intranasal delivery of proteins because of their larger size and hydrophilicity. h order to overcome the bathers and take advantage of available pathways (e.g., epithelial tight junctions, uptake by olfactory neurons, transport into brain tissues, and intra-brain diffusion), a low molecular weight protamine (LMWP) cell-penetrating peptide was utilized to facilitate nose-to-brain transport. cell-penetrating peptides (cPP) have been widely used to mediate macromolecular delivery through many kinds of biobarriers. Our results show that conjugates of LMWP proteinsare able to effectively penetrate into the brain after intranasal administration. The cPP-based intranasal method highlights a promising solution for protein therapy of brain diseases. Remarkable recent demonstrations of ultra-low-loss inhibited-coupling(1c)hollow-core photonic-crystal fibres(hcPcFs)established them as serious candidates for next-generation long-haul fibre optics systems.A hindrance to this prospect and also to short-haul applications such as micromachining,where stable and high-quality beam delivery is needed,is the difficulty in designing and fabricating an Ic-guiding fibre that combines ultra-low loss,truly robust single-modeness,and polarisation-maintaining *** design solutions proposed to date require a trade-off between low loss and truly ***,we propose a novel Ic-hcPcF for achieving low-loss and effective single-mode *** fibre is endowed with a hybrid cladding composed of a Kagome-tubular lattice(hKT).This new concept of a microstructured cladding allows us to significantly reduce the confinement loss and,at the same time,preserve truly robust single-mode *** results show an hKT-Ic-hcPcF with a minimum loss of 1.6dB/km at 1050 nm and a higher-order mode extinction ratio as high as 47.0 dB for a 10 m long *** robustness of the fibre single-modeness is tested by moving the fibre and varying the coupling *** design proposed herein opens a new route for the development of hcPcFs that combine robust ultra-low-loss transmission and single-mode beam delivery and provides new insight into Ic guidance.

美国和中国有丰富的油页岩资源。由于燃烧式干馏炉处理低品位的油页岩时.一部份产物油被烧掉以补充干馏所需的热量,从而降低了油收率。因此,采用添加少量煤的方法,以补充热量,提高油收率。本文研究煤的添加量对不同空气流速和不同品位油页岩干馏的影响。试验表明,当添加3w%的煤时,油收率可增加40%。此外,由于煤的加入使燃烧段和干馏段之间的距离增大,因此,还可改善干馏条件。

In this paper, a plasma sprayed coating (Ni cr B Si) on an Al Si alloy surface was melted by a cO 2 laser and a Nd:YAg laser respectively. The difference on the outline of the melted zone, chemical composition and hardness distribution of the laser melted zones were investigated. Experimental results showed that samples treated by the Nd:YAg laser have a better cladding tendency, more uniform chemical composition and microhardness distribution. Samples treated by the cO 2 laser have larger compositional segregation and poorer microhardness distribution.

In contrast to the earlier experiments conducted in other machines, here, in SST-1 the error field measurement experiment is performed with a filled gas pressure ~8×10^-4 mbar which helped to create a luminescent toroidal beam of electron path originated due to impact excitation and guided by the toroidal magnetic field. Beam path deviations are observed and recorded from radial and top ports using visible range cameras. Such creation and detection of the electron beam path differs from the earlier works where the gun emitted electron beam deviation in ultrahigh vacuum was detected on a collector-grid/fluorescent screen. In the present experiment, large beam deviations were observed. Later investigation of the experimental set-up reveals existence of a possible source of radial electric field in between the source and the vacuum vessel which are separately grounded. Thus, to understand the observed phenomena, experiments are numerically modeled with deviated TF coil set, PF coil set and the electron source location. A particle tracing code is used to follow the electron path in the magnetic field generated by the coil set of interest. Simulation results suggest that the large deviation corresponds to the E×B drifts and not due to the large field errors. Toroidally averaged field errors of the SST-1 TF coils at toroidal field of B0?=?15 kg are negligibly small ~B0?×?10^-6 or less, which should not adversely affect the plasma performance.

global depletion of energy supply due to the continuing over-utilization is a major problem of the present and future world *** is estimated that the fossil fuels will be exhausted in the next few *** today s energy demanding life style,there is always a need for exploring and exploiting new sources of energy which are renewable as well as *** digestion is a technology that utilizes various organic wastes（animal manure,energy crops and industrial wastes） to produce biofuel methane,which holds promise for the future while simultaneously addressing ecological and agrochemical *** the present study,kinetics of anaerobic digestion of dry water hyacinth,poultry litter,cow manure and primary sludge were undertaken in 250 ml biodigesters with 7% total solids and 60 days retention time and modified gompertz equation was tested for its *** kinetic parameters viz.,biogas yield potential（P）,the maximum biogas production rate（Rm） and the duration of lag phase（λ） were estimated for each *** digester fed with poultry litter produced maximum biogas（0.39 l（g VS）-1） and kinetic parameters P,Rm and λ were 0.3904 l（g VS）-1;0.0165 l（g VS）-1d-1 and 8.7498 days respectively.
