The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection has caused a devastating health crisis *** this review,we have discussed that prophylactic phytochemical quercetin supplementation in the form of foods or nutraceuticals may help manage the COVID-19 *** following evidence supports our ***,nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-like 2(NRF2)agonists abrogate replication of SARS-CoV-2 in lung cells,and quercetin is a potent NRF2 ***,quercetin exerts antiviral activity against several zoonotic coronaviruses,including SARS-CoV-2,mainly by inhibiting the entry of virions into host ***,inflammatory pathways activated by nuclear factor kappa B,inflammasome,and interleukin-6 signals elicit cytokine release syndrome that promotes acute respiratory distress syndrome in patients with COVID-19,and quercetin inhibits these pro-inflammatory ***,patients with COVID-19 develop thrombosis,and quercetin mitigates coagulation abnormalities by inhibiting plasma protein disulfide *** review provides a strong rationale for testing quercetin for the management of COVID-19.

Tropical pyomyositis is an underdiagnosed *** reported a 35 year old male farmer,who presented with septicemia and acute respiratory distress syndrome due to pyomyositis involving the paraspinal *** of the pus grew methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus, and the patient recovered after surgical drainage and antibiotic treatment Diagnostic delays can be avoided if tropical pyomyositis is considered as a differential diagnosis in patients with septicemia.

Four polyoxometalate complexes, (CPFX·hCl)_3h_4SiW_~12 O_~40 , (CPFX·hCl)_3h_3PW_~12 O_~40 , (CPFX·hCl)_3h_3PMo_~12 O_~40 and (CPFX·hCl)_4h_4SiMo_~12 O_~40 , were prepared from ciprofloxacin hydrochloride(CPFX·hCl) reacting with h_nXM_~12 O_~40 ·nh_2O(X=P,Si; M=W,Mo) in an aqueous solution, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrometry and TG-DTA. The IR spectrum confirms the presence of Keggin-type anions of heteropoly acids and the characteristic functional groups of ciprofloxacin. The TG/DTA curves show that their thermal decomposition is a multi-step process including simultaneous collapse of the Keggin-type structure. At first, these compounds had a mass loss of water molecules, then several other mass losses occured due to the decomposition of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride and its fragments with the degradation of Keggin anions. The end product of decomposition is the mixture of WO_3(or MoO_3) and SiO_2(or P_2O_5), identified by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. The possible thermal decomposition mechanisms of these complexes are proposed. This study exemplified that the thermal stability of the complexes containing tungsten is much better than that of the complexes containing molybdenum.

Using the small-slope approximation model of microwave emission of rough sea surface, the impacts of sea surface wind on brightness tem- perature variations generated by the surface rough- ness, i.e. ?Th,v, are investigated. here ?T denotes the brightness temperature variation, and “h” and “v” denote the horizontal and vertical polarizations re- spectively. ?Th,v has a linear relation with wind speed, sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface sa- linity (SSS) respectively. Further more, the impact of wind direction on SSS retrieval, under small inci- dence angles, can be removed by calculating (?Th+?Tv). These characteristics provide simple new ways to develop an SSS retrieval algorithm without wind direction factor.

Rauvolfia serpentina-Mediated Green Synthesis of CuO Nanoparticles and Its Multidisciplinary Studies

Copper oxide nanoparticles （CuO Nps） were successfully synthesized by solution combustion method using aqueous leaf extract of Rauvolfia serpentina as a fuel. The structure and morphology of the CuO nanoparticles （Nps） were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction （PXRD）, UV-visible spectroscopy （UV-visible）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, etc. The PXRD patterns reveal the formation of monoclinic phase with crystallite structure. SEM images indicate that the particles have sponge-like structure being highly porous and agglom- erated with large surface area. The average crystallite sizes were found to be in the range of 10-20 nm by Scherrer＇s method. The CuO Nps size was further confirmed by TEM. Further, CuO Nps exhibit good photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of trypan blue dye, indicating that it acts as a promising semiconducting material. The antibacterial properties of CuO nanoparticles were investigated against pathogenic bacterial strains, namely Gram -ve Escherichia coli （NCIM-5051） and Pseudomonas desmolyticum （NCIM-2028） and Gram ＋ve bacteria Staphylococcus aureus （NCIM- 5022） using the agar well diffusion method.

AIM:The effects of cobalt,copper,cadmium and barium ions on the cysts of Entamoeba histolyt/ca (E,histolytica), an amebic dysentery agent,cultured in Robinson medium were investigated. METhODS:*** cysts and trophozoites isolated from a patient with amebiasis were cultivated in the medium, incubated at 37℃ for a period of 4 days and 40×10~4/ml amebic cysts were then transferred to a fresh *** the second stage,0.05,0.1 and 0.2 mM of selected metal ions were added to the medium,and the effects of these ions on parasitic reproduction compared with the control group were observed. RESULTS:It was determined that the number of living parasites in all the groups containing metal ions decreased significantly starting from 30 minutes (Phowed the highest lethal effect on *** cysts,whereas the lowest lethal effect was observed with CoCl_*** was also seen that the number of living cells was decreased as the ion concentration and exposure time were increased,and that there were no living parasites in the medium at the end of 24 h (Phat the effect of ever- increasing contamination of the environment with metal waste materials on parasites should be investigated further.

AIM： To describe the clinical characteristics and late results of patients with retinopathy of prematurity（ROP）treated with ＂6h cryotherapy＂.·METhODS： Out of 1252 infants screened for ROP, 52 patients were treated with temporal 6h cryotherapy from1997 to 2005 were recalled to our clinic. Among these 23 patients were available and 46 eyes of 23 infants were included to evaluate for visual acuity, refractive error,ocular alignment, nystagmus, retinal examination（abnormal branching of retinal vessels, retinal thinning,latis degenerations, tortuosity of vessels, straightening of temporal vessels, narrowing of the angle of vessel in the juxtapapillary entrance, pigment changes, macular heterotopia）, optic atrophy and optic disc cupping, axial length at birth and axial length at 1y.·RESULTS： The median age at examination was 7（5-18）*** 32.6% of patients, the visual acuity was ≤20/200 and the mean best corrected visual acuity was 20/35 as measured with a Snellen chart. Mean spherical refractive error was-1.76±2.69 D. The degree of myopia at the last examination was found to be correlated with the elongation of the eye in the first year of life. Exotropia was present in 17.4%（n =8） of infants and esotropia in13%（n =6）. The most common retinal abnormality was abnormal branching of retinal vessels（82.6%） followed by retinal thinning（52.2%）.·CONCLUSION： The late clinical outcomes of infants with ROP treated in our clinic with cryotherapy seems to comparable with results of laser treatment.

Objective:To investigate activity-guided isolation and identification of anti-Staphylococcus aures components from Senecio tenuifolius Burm.F.(***).Methods:hexane,chloroform,ethyl acetate,methanol and aqueous extracts of *** were prepared by soxilation for antimicrobial activity against one registered Staphylococcus aureus(***)(ATCC No:25923)and two clinical isolates,methicillin resistant and methicillin sensitive *** standard methods were followed for antibacterial ***-MS was performed to identify the chemical composition of bio active ***:Among all solvent extracts,methanol extract significantly reduced the growth of ***(ATCC No:25923),methicillin resistant and methicillin sensitive *** with the best zone of inhibition at 16.23,14.06 and 15.23mm and minimum inhibition concentration(MIC)values at 426.16,683.22 and 512.12μg/mL,*** order to detect the active component in methanol extract,it was further purified by column chromatography,which yielded four fractions(St1,St2,St3,and St4).Among these four fractions,St3 was effective against the tested strains of ***,with the best zone of inhibition at 15.09,13.25 and 14.12 mm and with best MIC values at 88.16,128.11 and 116.12μg/mL,*** fraction partially purified from ***(St3)yielded MIC's that were at least 20 fold less when compared to crude ***-MS analysis of St3 revealed the presence of 3-[methyl-6,7-dihydro benzofuran-4(5h)-one],1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid,hydroquinone,methyl ester and 3 unknown ***:The study provides scientific evidence for traditional and folklore medicinal use of *** in skin infections treatment.
