Background Acupotomy,a more invasive procedure than acupuncture,involves the use of a thicker needle with an integrated knife at the tip,necessitating safety *** aimed to define relevant adverse events(AEs)and create a standardized form of the ACUPOtomy-related AEs ChECKlist(ACUPOChECK).Methods Before conducting the Delphi process,a systematic review and pilot prospective study were conducted to gather information on previously reported *** these data,pilot versions of the ACUPOChECK and Delphi questionnaires were *** Delphi questionnaire involved selecting types of AE for inclusion,establishing separate criteria for acupotomy-related AEs,and achieving a consensus on AE *** Korean doctors with experience in acupotomy or AE research were recruited to participate in each Delphi *** was considered to have been reached if the critical value for the content validity ratio met or exceeded *** The final ACUPOChECK was developed using four rounds of the Delphi method and one face-to-face consensus *** included 12 local AEs(pain,hemorrhage,bruise,hematoma,edema,pruritus,rash,infection,nerve damage,dysesthesia,movement impairment,and pneumothorax)and 14 systemic AEs(disease aggravation,needle fatigue,sleepiness,procedural nausea,procedural vomiting,procedural headache,procedural dizziness,sweating,procedural shock,syncope,dyspnea,procedural pain,sleep disorder,and postprocedural infection).Separate criteria were established for pain,hemorrhage and bruising:pain was defined as pain that occurrs during daily activities and persists for longer than 72 h,hemorrhage as bleeding that continues for≥3 min despite pressure application,and bruising as having a bruise with a diameter of≥3 ***-ended descriptions were allowed for AEs not covered by the checklist,and severity and causality were assessed using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events and modified World health Organization-Uppsala Monitoring C

Graphene,owing to its inherent chemical inertness,biocompatibility,and mechanical flexibility,has great potential in guiding cell behaviors such as adhesion and ***,due to the two-dimensional(2D)nature of graphene,the microfabrication of graphene into micro/nanoscale patterns has been widely adopted for guiding cellular *** this study,we report crumpled graphene,i.e.,monolithically defined graphene with a nanoscale wavy surface texture,as a tissue engineering platform that can efficiently promote aligned C2C12 mouse myoblast cell *** imparted out-of-plane,nanoscale crumpled morphologies to flat graphene via compressive straininduced *** C2C12 mouse myoblast cells were seeded on the uniaxially crumpled graphene,not only were the alignment and elongation promoted at a single-cell level but also the differentiation and maturation of myotubes were enhanced compared to that on flat *** results demonstrate the utility of the crumpled graphene platform for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for skeletal muscle tissues.

Extrusion process of Acanthopanax senticosus leaves enhances the gastroprotective effect of compound 48/80 on acute gastric mucosal lesion in rats

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the gastroprotective effects of Acanthopanax senticosus leaves(ASLs)extrusion on acute gastric mucosal lesion in rats induced by compound 48/80(C48/80).METhODS:Rats were divided into six groups:normal;C48/80-induced gastric lesion control;gastric lesion positive control(famotidine 4 mg/kg);gastric lesion administered with two levels of extruded ASLs(ASLE,40 and 200 mg/kg);and gastric lesion treated with ASLs(ASL 200 mg/kg).Mucus secretion/damage was determined by immunohistological *** and western blotting were performed to determine gastric mucosal Bax and Bcl-2 *** mucosal oxidative-stress-related enzymes and malondialdehyde were ***:C48/80-induced mucus depletion and inflammation in the gastric mucosa were significantly attenuated by *** increased serum serotonin and histamine concentrations in C48/80-treated rats were also attenuated by *** mucosal Bax protein expression was increased and Bcl-2 expression was decreased after C48/80 treatment,and ASLs ameliorated Bax and Bcl-2 *** extrusion process significantly augmented the effects of ASLs in a dosedependent *** at 200 mg/kg normalized mucus damage/secretion,C48/80-induced increases of mucosal myeloperoxidase activity(index of inflammation),xanthine oxidase,and malondialdehyde content(index of lipid peroxidation).The effects of ASLs on Bax and Bcl-2expression were also enhanced by ***,these effects of ASLEs at 200 mg/kg were similar to those of famotidine,a histamine h2-receptor antagonist commonly used to treat gastric ***:ASLEs prevented acute gastric mucosal lesion progression induced by C48/80,possibly by inducing mucus production,and reduced inflammation and oxidative stress in gastric mucosa through an anti-apoptotic mechanism.

Background: Retinol (vitamin A) is used in the cosmetics industry as an antiwrinkle agent. however, its photoinstability and skin irritation potential make it challenging to use in general cosmetic formulations. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a newly synthesized photostable retinol derivative (retinyl N-formyl aspartamate) in patients with photodamaged skin. Retinyl N-formyl aspartamate is a newly synthesized retinol derivative with higher photostability, and a similar effect on collagenase expression level as retinol. Methods: In all, 29 Korean women (age range: 31-54 years), who were not pregnant, nursing, or undergoing any concurrent therapy, were enrolled in this study. A total of 24 patients completed a 24-week trial of retinyl N-formyl aspartamate twice daily on the left half of the face and a placebo on the right half of the face. A clinical evaluation, photographs, and silicone replicas of both crow’s-feet areas were taken at baseline and at weeks 12, 20, and 24. Skin replicas were then analyzed using an optical profilometry technique. The standard wrinkle and roughness features were then calculated and statistically analyzed. The tolerance profile of the product was also clinically evaluated during the study. Results: The 24 women who completed this study showed more improvement on the left side of the crow’s-feet area in terms of the signs of photodamage than on the right side according to both their own (P he investigator’s (P hese results were confirmed by skin replica analyses. The average roughness showed significant improvement (P he smoothness depth was improved, but this was not statistically significant. One patient noted burning and prickling sensations, and she withdrew during the study. Limitations: Pigmentation changes were not assessed, investigators were not blinded, and the study size was relatively small. Conclusion: In this small study retinyl N-formyl aspartamate

[背景]越来越多的证据显示,母亲空气污染暴露与对胎儿生长的不良影响之间存在关联;但是,现有的文献并不一致。[目的]研究9个国家14个中心的数据,量化母亲颗粒物空气污染暴露与足月出生体重和低出生体重(LBW)之间的关联,并探讨此关联中地点特征和暴露评估方法对中心之间异质性的影响。[方法]空气污染与妊娠结局国际合作(ICAPPO)的各中心采用共同的分析方案,对PM10和PM2.5(颗粒物≤10和2.5μm)与足月LBW和连续出生体重进行效应评估。采用meta分析将各个中心(~300万例出生)的效应评估结合起来,并采用meta回归分析在报告的效应评估中,中心特征和暴露评估方法对中心之间异质性的影响。[结果]随机效应meta分析显示,调整母亲的社会经济地位后,在整个妊娠期间,足月LBW与PM10[比值比(OR)=1.03;95%CI:1.01~1.05]和PM2.5[OR=1.10;95%CI:1.03~1.18]每增加10μg/m3呈正相关。在充分调整随机效应的meta分析中,作为一个连续性的结果,PM10暴露每增加10μg/m3与足月出生体重呈负相关(-8.9g;95%CI:-13.2^-4.6 g)。meta回归分析显示,具有较高平均PM2.5水平和PM2.5∶PM10比率的中心,以及采用时间暴露评估(与时空相比)的中心,所报告的关联更强。[结论]在研究人群中,母亲颗粒物污染暴露与足月LBW相关联。有3个地点特征和暴露评估方法学方面的不同导致各个中心报告的关联的差异。
