Poultry Manure as an Organic Fertilizer with or without Biochar Amendment:Influence on Growth and Heavy Metal Accumulation in Lettuce and Spinach and Soil Nutrients

This pot-based study investigated the influence of poultry manure and 1:1 mixture of poultry manure+biochar(produced from farmyard manure[FYM]or wood),on the biomass production and concentration of heavy metals in leaves of lettuce and *** concentration of mineral nitrogen(N)and soluble inorganic phosphorus(P)of soils cultivated with these vegetables was also *** application of poultry manure or FYM biochar in soil as 10%(equivalent to 60 t ha^(-1),an estimated 1726.8 kg ha^(-1)N in poultry manure and 1353.9 kg ha^(-1)N in FYM)and 15%amendment(equivalent to 90 t ha^(-1),an estimated 2590.2 kg ha^(-1)N in poultry manure and 2030.8 kg ha^(-1)N in FYM)significantly decreased biomass production of lettuce as compared to control(no fertilizer added)***,mixture of poultry manure with wood-derived biochar at both application rates(i.e.,10%and 15%)and with FYM biochar at lower application rate(i.e.,10%)caused 2-3-fold increase in aboveground plant biomass and 2-14-fold increase in root biomass(p<0.05).Furthermore,as compared to control treatment,a significant~2-3-fold increase in aboveground plant biomass was also observed in response to mixture of poultry manure with wood-derived and FYM derived biochars at 10%amendment *** compared to control treatment,concentration of mineral N and soluble inorganic P were higher in soils of all other *** spinach,amendment of poultry manure or its co-amendment with biochar of FYM significantly increased aboveground plant biomass at 7%(equivalent to 42 t ha^(-1))as compared to 3%and 5%amendment rates(equivalent to 18 and 30 t ha^(-1)respectively).The concentration of soil mineral N and soil soluble mineral P was not different between *** lettuce,wood-derived biochar did not reduce concentration of heavy metals(i.e.,manganese(Mn),copper(Cu),iron,(Fe),cadmium(Cd),lead(Pb),nickel(Ni)and cobalt(Co)than FYM-derived biochar while in spinach,as compared to poultry manure,co-amendment of

Hazarganji Chiltan National Park in Balochistan, Pakistan was established in 1980 and the protected area was further extended in 1998. Large area of this mountain is still open for unmanaged human disturbances such as collection of wood for fuel purpose and livestock grazing. Removal of vegetation of rangelands has a significant negative impact on soil organic matter(SOM). This research evaluates litter decomposition in three sites of Hazarganji Chiltan mountain with varying history of human disturbances(unprotected site, young protected site and old protected site). Twigs of Pistacia khinjuk with approximately equal weight and length were placed in litter bags of mesh size 2 mm and were buried in 0-5 cm depth in three sites in January. Half of the twigs of each site received rain simulation in April, August, October, November and January while the other half of the twigs were subjected under natural conditions for 15 months. Twigs from each plot of each treatment of each site were collected from soil after every rain simulation in the previous month of experiment and were processed for weight loss assessment. Results showed that weight loss of twigs by decomposition was significantly higher in the soil of unprotected site as compared to other two sites and there was no difference between rain simulation and control treatments except that loss of weight of twigs of unprotected site was higher under control than rain simulation condition. To confirm that SOM was the major controlling factor for the decomposition of litter decay, soils of each site were collected and burned to remove SOM;thereafter, burned soil samples were mixed with homogenous powder of oven-dried native plants, incubated for 6 months and were provided with dissolved organic matter of the soils of each site. Interactions of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) with metal chlorides (MgCl 2 , CaCl 2 , KCl and BaCl 2 ) have been investigated by viscometric and spectrophotometric techniques in aqueous solutions. Intrinsic viscosity [η] of (PVP) has shown a discontinuity with varying concentration of metal chlorides. The decreasing order of effectiveness of cation is K 1+ > Ca 2+ > Mg 2+ > Ba 2+ for poly(vinylpyrrolidone) solution. Changes in the absorption spectra of the cosolutes were observed in the presence of PVP in the lower limit of the UV-visible region i.e. 200-210 nm. These changes were attributed to interaction of PVP molecules with the cosolute molecules. As the concentration of the cosolute increased, a red shift in the peaks was observed, indicating an increase in interaction between PVP and cosolutes.

UV Spectroscopic Method for Optimization and Determination of Glibenclamide in Bulk,Pharmaceutical Dosage Form and its Application for In Vitro Interaction Studies

A simple,easy and cost-efficient UV spectroscopic method was developed and validated for glibenclamide,the second generation of sulfonylureas,using 0.1 N NaOH as a *** proposed method is linear(R^(2)>0.999)with the range 5-25μg mL^(−1),accurate(99.60%),precise(inter and intraday variation 0.241 and 0.019%,respectively)and robust(<1%).The quantification and detection limit were 1.46 and 0.48μg mL^(−1),*** validated method was applied for in vitro interaction studies of glibenclamide(GLB)with commonly prescribed quinolones(ciprofloxacin,levofloxacin,moxifloxacin,and gemifloxacin)and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)(diclofenac sodium,ibuprofen,mefenamic acid,and aspirin)using UV *** in vitro interaction studies were carried out in different artificially prepared physiological buffers at 37°C for 2 *** showed raised level of glibenclamide when interacted with gemifloxacin(pH 7.4),levofloxacin(pH 9),ciprofloxacin(pH 4.5)and with moxifloxacin(pH 4.5,7.4 and 9).Interaction with NSAIDs results in increased%availability of glibenclamide in the presence of diclofenac sodium,ibuprofen,and mefenamic acid at pH *** anticipated method can be successfully applied for the routine analysis and also for the interaction of glibenclamide with other drugs.

This study investigated the influence of sixteen years exclosure from unmanaged grazing on aboveground vegetation biomass,soil organic matter(SOM),soil aggregation and nitrogen(N)mineralization in arid shrubland of Baluchistan,*** was carried out from three sites along the chronosequence of secondary *** site was located at open-for-grazing area(grazed site)and the other two sites were located in the area that is protected since *** of the protected site is more remote from grazing(protected site 1)where the land is less disturbed and has thick vegetation than the other protected site(protected site 2).Results showed a significant difference for aboveground vegetation biomass across sites and was in the order of protected site 1>protected site 2>grazed *** organic matter was 53% and 46% higher in protected sites than grazed *** larger than 2 mm size were not detected in soil from grazed site but represented 4.5% and 3% of the sample soil profile at the protected site 1 and protected site 2,*** of N mineralization was lower in soils at the grazed site as compared to soils at the protected *** moisture contents were significantly lower at grazed site and showed a strong positive correlation with aboveground vegetation *** study demonstrates that unmanaged grazing severely affected aboveground vegetation biomass,soil organic matter,large-sized soil aggregates,nitrogen mineralization and soil moisture *** term exclosure from grazing(~16 years)can enhance aboveground vegetation biomass and soil quality in terms of soil organic matter accumulation,soil aggregation,retention of soil moisture and nitrogen mineralization in this arid rangeland.

The Lower Indus Basin is the leading hydrocarbon-bearing sedimentary basin in *** study has been conducted on the Sawan gas field located in the Lower Indus Basin,adjacent to a few other wellknown gas fields of Pakistan like Kadanwari,Qadirpur,and Miano gas *** research aims to present the spatial distribution and reservoir potential of the productive zones of the Lower Goru *** present study utilized various two-dimensional(2D)seismic lines and well-log data(Sawan-01 and Sawan-02)to investigate the structural and stratigraphic features of the *** stratigraphic layers are mildly deepening in the southeast *** 2D seismic interpretation of the research area identifies the existence of extensional remanents,i.e.,normal *** extensional structures are associated with horst and graben geometry that acts as a trapping mechanism for *** logs are used to identify the reservoir's diverse lithology and petrophysical *** results indicate fair to good effective porosities,low shale volume,and high hydrocarbon saturation(>55%),signifying good reservoir potential in C interval of the Lower Goru Formation.
