Effect of uncontrolled hyperglycemia on levels of adhesion molecules in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2

Objective： Uncontrol ed diabetes has become a major cause of mortality and morbidity by reason of vascular angiopathy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the concentrations of soluble forms of vascular adhesion molecule-1 （sVCAM-1）, intercel ular adhesion molecule-1 （sICAM-1）, E-selectin, and thrombomodulin in patients with wel-control ed and uncontrol ed diabetes type 2. Methods： The study was conducted on 62 patients with diabetes. Group I consisted of 35 patients with wel-control ed diabetes. The second group included 27 patients with uncontrol ed diabetes with micro-albuminuria. A control group was made up of 25 healthy volunteers. The concentrations of sVCAM-1, sICAM-1, sE-selectin, and soluble thrombomodulin were assayed in plasma. Serum concentration of cre-atinine was measured and the plasma concentrations of fasting glucose and glycated hemoglobin （HbA1c） determined. Results： Lower concentrations of ICAM-1 were found in the group of uncontrolled diabetes patients compared with those with wel-control ed disease. In patients with uncontrol ed diabetes, VCAM-1 levels were significantly higher compared with the group with wel-control ed diabetes. In patients with uncontrol ed diabetes a positive correlation was obtained between glomerular filtration rate and sE-selectin and a negative correlation between the levels of creatinine and ICAM-1, although there was a positive correlation between （HbA1c） and ICAM-1. Conclusions： The study con-firmed the participation of the inflammatory process associated with impaired vascular endothelial function in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. The opposite effect of uncontrolled hyperglycemia on adhesion molecules suggests different functions of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 in complications of diabetes.

通过不同的Hummers法和重铬酸钠氧化法,以商业石墨为原料,合成出不同氧含量和官能团的氧化石墨。采用元素分析、FTIR、XPS、SEM和XRD对氧化石墨进行化学和结构表征。重铬酸钾氧化能得到一种氧含量低的氧化石墨,主要形成羟基和环氧基。Hummers法是更有效的一种氧化方法。使用Na NO3氧化2 h,得到的氧化石墨具有最高的氧含量(>40 wt%),形成C—O和C=O键。SEM和XRD结果表明,在这些条件中,Hummers法合成的氧化石墨的石墨层间距最大。因此,用相同的氧化方法,通过改变反应条件能调控氧化石墨的化学结构。

目的:考虑一个包含Duffing型非线性、粘性阻尼和运动谐波激励的一维耦合振子链,本文旨在推导描述振幅和相位的近似方程,得到并检验两类基本共振态(同振和反向共振)发生的条件,同时分析模型参数对同步率的影响。创新点:1.利用时间序列的互相关测量特定振子间的相互蝶,并通过一系列的数值实验来验证理论预测的结果;2.给出考虑干摩擦的系统共振的一些简要说明。方法:1.采用经典的平均值法进行理论分析;2.采用MEBDFV求解器计算多自由系统的数值解。结论:1.利用平均值法确定了两种共振现象:同相状态(低频激励)和反相状态(高频激励);2.关于同相共振的预测非常琐碎但对多自由度的振子链非常适用;3.对于反相共振的预测适用于短的振子链;4.可以通过改变系统的物理参数来提高同步率。

Demythologizing the South： Cormac McCarthy＇s Suttree in an Intertextual Perspective

The article is structured around a premise of intertextuality, which is suggested not only by McCarthy＇s own more or less overt allusions to Faulkner＇s writing but also by the very name of his protagonist Suttree, which is evocative of the name of perhaps the best known Faulkner villain Thomas Sutpen. This supposition in turn leads to an argument that in his 1979 novel McCarthy does indeed reverse the life story of Thomas Sutpen by making Suttree descend down the very path that Sutpen ascended a century and a half before him, i.e., from the ranks of Southern aristocracy to the scum of the earth, and in defiance of the same ideology that Sutpen went to great lengths to embrace. Thus, an intertextual and comparative approach to McCarthy＇s novel not only in the context of Faulkner＇s Absalom, Absalom! but also his Light in August （cf. Joe Christmas） and The Sound and the Fury （cf. Quentin） as well as Ellen Glasgow＇s short story ＂Jordan＇s End＂ demonstrates that what Cormac McCarthy actually does in Suttree is to demythologize the South, complete with its aristocratic pretensions （＂doing pretty＂）, dubious morality （incest） and fear of miscegenation （obsession with time and the double）. Moreover, in doing so, he defamiliarizes it by reducing it to its Other （poor whites and African Americans）, whose authenticity, liveliness and charitability defy the affectation, lifelessness and decadence of the aristocratic South.

Objective： Being overweight or obese comprises a significant risk factor for atherosclerosis. Fat tissue also generates factors stimulating angiogenesis, the process by which new blood vessels form. The purpose of this paper is to assess concentrations of the vascular endothelial growth factor A （VEGF-A） and its soluble type-1 and type-2 re- ceptors （sVEGFR-1 and sVEGFR-2） in plasma of patients with peripheral arterial disease （PAD） depending on the level of nutrition according to body mass index （BMI）. Methods： The study group included patients suffering from symptomatic PAD （n=46） in Fontaine classes Ila-lV without any history of neoplastic disease and who have a normal BMI （n=15）, are overweight （n=21） or are obese （n=10）. The control group （n=30） consisted of healthy non-smoking volunteers who were neither overweight nor obese. Venous blood plasma samples were collected from both groups at rest in the morning to determine plasma concentrations of VEGF-A, sVEGFR-1, and sVEGFR-2 using the enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） method. Results： The group of patients with PAD co-existent with being over- weight or obese tended to have higher mean concentration levels of VEGF-A and sVEGFR-2 when compared with patients suffering from PAD with normal BMIo A statistically significant positive correlation was obtained between BMI and average plasma concentrations of sVEGFR-2 （R=0.37, P=-0.0103）. However, no significant correlation was no- ticed between BMI and VEGF-A or sVEGFR-1 concentrations. Conclusions： A positive correlation determined be- tween the level of antiangiogenic factor and BMI value may be indicative of the linearly growing prevalence of some antiangiogenic factors in patients with metabolic disorders, which may be one of numerous factors contributing to incomplete efficiency of collateral circulation development in patients with PAD.

The consumption ofthermoset resins as building polymers is approximately over one million tone word wide. The thermoset resins are proven construction materials for the technical and highly demanding applications of the transportation, electrical and building part industry. Heat stability, high thermal, low shrinkage, excellent mechanical properties are typical for their type of polymers. Above applications in addition to the mechanical properties also require good flame retardants of the materials. Undertaken activities refer to official draft, laws and legal recommendations in UE states. This paper presents positive effect of reduced flammability of thermoset resins （unsaturated polyester and epoxy resins） thanks to the use of nanocomposites containing multi-ingredient halogen-flee flame retardants which combine conventional phosphorus/nitrogen modifiers interacting with nanofillers （oMMT （organomodified montmorillonite）, EG （expandable graphite）, graphene, GO （graphene oxide）, nSi （nanosilica））.

Objective： Decompensated chronic hyperglycemia often leads to late microvascular complications such as retinopathy, diabetic foot syndrome, and diabetic kidney disease. The aim of this study was to determine the concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor A （VEGF-A） and its receptors in patients with well-controlled diabetes. Methods： The study was conducted on 31 patients with well-controlled type 2 diabetes without microor macroangiopathy. Thirty healthy volunteers were enrolled in a control group. Serum concentrations of VEGF-A, VEGF receptors 1 and 2 （VEGFR1 and VEGFR2）, fasting glucose, and lipid profiles were measured, and the plasma concentration of glycated hemoglobin （HbAlc） was determined. Results： No significant differences were observed between the concentration of VEGF-A, VEGFR1 or VEGFR2 in the subject group and that in the control group. Positive correlations were noted between the levels of VEGF-A, VEGFR2, and triglyceride, and there was a negative correlation between the levels of VEGFR2 and high-density lipoprotein （HDL）-cholesterel in the study group. Conclusions： The concentrations of VEGF-A and its receptors 1 and 2 in patients with well-controlled diabetes are comparable to those of healthy individuals, which may indicate that appropriate control of glucose levels delays the occurrence of vascular complications. A negative correlation between VEGFR2 and HDL-cholesterol levels, and positive correlations between VEGF-A, VEGFR2, and triglyceride levels, suggest that lipid abnormalities occurring in diabetes may be involved in the modulation of angiogenesis.

A split-split-plot design was used to evaluate the effects of sowing dates and sowing rates on three winter rape cultivars,including‘PR45D03’,a semi-dwarf hybrid,‘PR46W31’,a traditional hybrid,and‘Californium’,an open-pollinated *** 25 was the optimal sowing date for maximizing protein and oil yields across all three *** the cultivars,the traditional hybrid,‘PR46W31’,produced the highest protein and oil yields on that *** yields of the semi-dwarf hybrid,‘PR45D03’,were greater than those of the open-pollinated cultivar,‘Californium’,when these were sown later than the optimal *** and oil yields did not differ significantly among different seeding densities.
