Objective:To investigate the cytotoxicity of the crude ethanol extract of the rhizome of Zingiber zerumbel(***)(L)Smith,and Curcuma zedoaria(***)Rosc,against Artemia salina ***:Fresh rhizomes of ***(L)Smith,and *** Rose,were extracted separately in cold with ethanol(2.5 L)and after concentration a brownish syrupy suspension of ethanol extracts of ***(L)Smith,and *** Rose,was *** cytotoxic effect of the crude ethanol extracts of both plants was determined by brine shrimp lethality ***:Crude ethanol extracts of the rhizome of ***(L)Smith,showed the highest cytotoxicity(LC_(50)was 1.24μg/mL)against brine shrimp nauplii as compared with *** Rose.(LC_(50)was 33.593μg/mL)after 24 h of ***:It can be concluded that the rhizome of ***(|L)Smith,and *** Rose,can be used as a source of cytotoxic agent.

In the name of visual pleasure, there are different entertainments in today＇s media that instigate voyeurism among common viewers. In this study, the author intends to focus on two phases where the spectators are turning voyeurs without their consent. In the first phase, the study reveals the process where film influences voyeuristic behavior. The urge to explore others＇ private matters starts through the way film reflects, reveals, and even plays on the straight, socially established interpretation of sexual difference which controls images, erotic ways of looking, and spectacle. Several voyeuristic means in films pursue set formation, and they all persuade the viewer to identify with the male character by allowing the viewer to see what he sees through different voyeuristic means. The use of devices as a telescope, magnifying glass, and keyholes is the motivation for the close-up shots. They turn the viewer into a participant and spectator and allow the viewer to look at previously unseen and hidden details, but they do not let the viewer become totally a part of the action. In this study, films like Peeping Tom and Sliver are analyzed to understand big screen voyeurism. In the second phase, this study presents the voyeurism initiated by television programs such as reality shows, ＂soap operas＂, daytime television, talk shows, real life documentaries, and ＂docudramas＂. At the pinnacle, there are the government, police, and the employers who are assisting to produce a new ＂watched＂ culture with the use of closed circuit TV devices. Some camera operators are known to have made ＂greatest hits＂ tapes and other material captured on CCTV has become the footage used to create television programs for entertainment purposes. Thus, they are influencing public voyeurism. Programs like ＂Big Daddy＂, ＂Big Brother＂, and ＂Big Boss＂ are disclosing personal activities of the characters through hidden cameras. Objective:To investigate antimicrobial effects of ethanolic extract of Zingiber zerumbet(***)(L.)Smith and its chloroform and petroleum ether soluble fractions against pathogenic bacteria and ***:The fresh rhizomes of Zingiber zerumbet were extracted in cold with ethanol(4.0 L)after *** crude ethanol extract was fractionated by petroleum ether and chloroform to form a suspension of ethanol extract(15.0 g),petroleum ether fraction(6.6 g)and chloroform soluble fraction(5.0 g).The crude ethanol extract and its petroleum ether and chloroform fractions were evaluated for antibacterial and antifungal activity against thirteen pathogenic bacteria and three fungi by the disc diffusion *** available kanamycin(30μg/disc)was used as standard disc and blank discs impregnated with the respective solvents were used as negative ***:At a concentration of 400μg/disc,all the samples showed mild to moderate antibacterial and antifungal activity and produced the zone of inhibition ranging from 6 mm to 10 *** the tested samples,the crude ethanol extract showed the highest activity against Vibrio parahemolyticus(***).The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of the crude ethanol extract and its fractions were within the value of 128-256μg/mL against two Gram positive and four Gram negative bacteria and all the samples showed the lowest MIC value against ***(128μg/mL).Conclusions:It can be concluded that,potent antibacterial and antifungal phytochemicals are present in ethanol extract of ***(L.).

BACKGROUND:Bangladesh is a densely populated country where about 10 million people are chronically infected with hepatitis B virus(HBV).The aim of the present study was to evaluate the biochemical,virological and histological characteristics of HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B(CHB). METHODS:Patients were included in this study if they were chronically infected with HBV with detectable *** patients who were co-infected with human immunodeficiency virus,hepatitis delta virus or hepatitis C virus,and previously subjected to antiviral treatment,and those with hepatocellular carcinoma were *** study was conducted during the period of January 2001 to December *** this period 2617 patients with CHB were ***-positive cases were included to compare the *** them,237 cases underwent liver biopsy. A trial ofAvicennia officinalis L. with five different spacings was conducted in the newly accreted lands along the western coastline （Patuakhali district） of Bangladesh since 1993 to assess growth perform- ance and the effect of spacing on tree growth. Data on tree density, height, diameter, bole height, crown diameter were recorded and ana- lyzed when the stand was 19 years old. Mean height ranged from 12.89-13.52 m and diameter at breast height （dbh） from 26.57-32.16 cm in plots of different spacings. The mean annual height increment ranged from 0,67-0.71 m, mean annual diameter increment from 1.40-1.69 cm and wood volume from 6.02-10.04 ***＇*** in different treatments. Significantly greater diameter （32.16 cm） and wood volume （10.04 ***.a-1） were obtained with wider （2.13 m × 2.13 m） spacing than with closer spacings. But tree growth was unaffected by other spacings. Growth data were also recorded from other .4. officinalis plantations raised by Forest Department （FD） on different islands in Patuakhali and Bhola districts of Bangladesh. At these sites, mean annual height incre- ment ranged from 0.33-0.62 m, mean annual diameter increment from 0.72-1,37 cm and wood volume from 1.55-5.73 m3·ha-1·a·-1. The growth performance of A. offindicated that the newly aecreted lands along the western shoreline may be suitable for raising Avicennia planta- tions for the enrichment of coastal vegetation.

Linseed is a multipurpose crop and the crop needs further improvement to increase production and yield due to its high value and *** study aimed to assess the extent and pattern of genetic variability of forty linseed genotypes based on diverse agro–morphological and yield *** field experiment was conducted following a Randomized Complete Block Design with three *** germplasm showed a wide range of phenotypic expression,genetic variability and heritability for 30 studied traits.A low to high phenotypic coeffi-cient of variation(PCV)and genotypic coefficient of variation(GCV)were *** lowest genotypic(σ2 g)and phenotypic variances(σ2 p)were found in capsule diameter(CD),length of calyx(LC),capsule length(CL),seed length(SL),and seed breadth(SB).High broad-sense heritability(h2 b)with high genetic advance as a percentage of mean(GAM)were observed in days to germination started(DGS),days to 80%emergence(DE),plant height at 28 and 40 DAS,number of flowers(NFPP),filled capsules(NFCPP)and yield per plant(YPP)indicating additive gene action exists for these *** cluster analysis separated 40 genotypes into five clusters,where Clusters I to V assembled with 13,4,4,5 and 14 genotypes,*** yield and yield attributes,Cluster-IV(G3,G4,G6,G10 and G31)genotypes showed promising while,Cluster-II(G2,G16,G35,G36)and Cluster-III(G1,G33,G39 and G40)genotypes were dominant on plant morphological *** on principal component analysis(PCA),few characters such as YPP,NFPP,NFCPP,days to first flowering and capsule formation,early emergence,days to branch initiation and plant heights at different growth stages revealed important and effective traits for consideration in the selection of linseed breeding programs.
