Microstructure studies of air-plasma-spray-deposited ConiCrAlY coatings before and after thermal cyclic loading for high-temperature application

In the present study, bond-coats for thermal barrier coatings were deposited via air plasma spraying（APS） techniques onto Inconel 800 and Hastelloy C-276 alloy substrates. Scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, and atomic force microscopy（AFM） were used to investigate the phases and microstructure of the as-sprayed, APS-deposited Co ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings. The aim of this work was to study the suitability of the bond-coat materials for high temperature applications. Confirmation of nanoscale grains of the γ/γ′-phase was obtained by TEM, high-resolution TEM, and AFM. We concluded that these changes result from the plastic deformation of the bond-coat during the deposition, resulting in Co ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings with excellent thermal cyclic resistance suitable for use in high-temperature applications. Cyclic oxidative stability was observed to also depend on the underlying metallic alloy substrate.

Comparative Analysis of Photo-Crystallization in a-Se95Te5 and a-Se95In5 Alloys

We report a comparative study on photo-crystallization in a-Se95 Te5 and a-Se95In5 alloys. The photo-crystallization is achieved by a shining white line on the thin films of these alloys in vacuum for different exposure times. The results indicate that photo-crystallization is fast in a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy. This is explained in terms of lower thermal stability of a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy.

Macular microvascular and structural changes on optical coherence tomography angiography in atypical optic neuritis

BACKgROUnD Atypical optic neuritis,consisting of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders(nMOSD)or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease(MOgAD),has a very similar presentation but different prognostic implications and longterm management *** and metabolic factors are being thought to play a role in such autoimmune neuro-inflammatory disorders,apart from the obvious immune mediated *** the advent of optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),it is easy to pick up on these subclinical macular microvascular and structural *** To study the macular microvascular and structural changes on OCTA in atypical optic *** This observational cross-sectional study involved 8 nMOSD and 17 MOgAD patients,diagnosed serologically,as well as 10 healthy *** vascular density(MVD)and ganglion cell+inner plexiform layer thickness(gCIPL)were studied using *** There was a significant reduction in MVD in nMOSD and MOgAD affected as well as unaffected eyes when compared with healthy *** and MOgAD affected eyes had significant gCIPL thinning compared with healthy *** unaffected eyes did not show significant gCIPL thinning compared to healthy controls in contrast to MOgAD unaffected *** comparing nMOSD with MOgAD,there was no significant difference in terms of MVD or gCIPL in the affected or unaffected *** Although significant microvascular and structural changes are present on OCTA between atypical optic neuritis and normal patients,they could not help in differentiating between nMOSD and MOgAD cases.

High Order Stable Infinite Impulse Response Filter Design Using Cuckoo Search Algorithm

In this paper, an efficient technique for optimal design of digital infinite impulse response （IIR） filter with minimum passband error （ep）, minimum stopband error （es）, high stopband attenuation （As）, and also free from limit cycle effect is proposed using cuckoo search （CS） algorithm. In the proposed method, error function, which is multi-model and non-differentiable in the heuristic surface, is constructed as the mean squared difference between the designed and desired response in frequency domain, and is optimized using CS algorithm. Computational efficiency of the proposed technique for exploration in search space is examined, and during exploration, stability of filter is maintained by considering lattice representation of the denominator polynomials, which requires less computational complexity as well as it improves the exploration ability in search space for designing higher filter taps. A comparative study of the proposed method with other algorithms is made, and the obtained results show that 90% reduction in errors is achieved using the proposed method. However, computational complexity in term of CPU time is increased as compared to other existing algorithms.

This paper establishes a resilient concatenated coding platform for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) with Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) over Additive White gaussian noise (AWgn) channel. At the Forward Error Correction (FEC) coding unit, our proposed concatenated coding scheme utilizes standard type of BCH as external coding and LDPC as inner coding. In this scheme, Interleaver inclusion is seen as a catalyst to enhance the systems performance.

Pyometra is one of the most common uterine pathologies of intact bitch at middle to advanced age. In the early stages, the disease shows subtle changes, making diagnosis a challenge. In contrast, at later stages, it manifests as potentially life-threatening systemic inflammatory response syndrome. Ultrasonographic examination of the uterus aids in the diagnosis, although it has limitation in ascertaining the clinical severity of pyometra. Moreover, differentiation of cystic endometrial hyperplasia from pyometra could not be discerned with greater accuracy. Therefore, false negative diagnosis of pyometra patients leads to development of systemic inflammatory response, which delays administration of therapies and results in deaths during early course of treatment. Further, indiscriminate use of broad-spectrum antimicrobials at higher dose in false positive cases considerably contributes to the rising pool of drug resistant pathogens, thereby increasing the risk of case fatality due to sepsis in a long-term. Monitoring the circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, acute phase proteins, endotoxin, growth factors and inflammatory mediators is the current trend in pyometra research, especially for developing diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. The present review deals with the prospects of developing diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in the canine pyometra.

Fuel properties and combustion characteristics of some promising bamboo species in India

We investigated the fuel characteristics of five important bamboo species viz., Dendrocalamus strictus, D. brandisii, D. stocksii, Bambusa bambos and B. balcooa. The selected species cover more than 85% of the total growing stock of bamboo in India. Basic density varied from 0.48 to 0.78 ***-3 among the bamboo species studied. Ash content, volatile matter content and fixed carbon content ranged between 1.4%-3.0%, 77.2%-80.8% and 17.6%-21.1%, respectively. Variation in calorific value （18.7-19.6 MJ-kg-l） was marginal. Fuel value index var- ied widely （586-2120） among bamboo species. The highest calorific value （19.6 ***＂l） and fuel value index （2120） were found in B. bal- cooa. Ash elemental analysis revealed that silica and potassium are the major ash forming minerals in bamboo biomass. Silica content ranged from 8.7% to 49.0%, while potassium ranged from 20.6% to 69.8%. We studied combustion characteristics under oxidizing atmosphere. Burning profiles of the samples were derived by applying the derivative thermo- gravimetric technique which is discussed in detail. The five bamboo species were different in their combustion behaviour, mainly due to differences in physical and chemical properties. We compare fuel prop- erties, ash elemental analysis and combustion characteristics of bamboo biomass with wood biomass of Eucalyptus hybrid （Eucalyptus tereticor- his × Eucalyptus camaldulensis）.

Magnesium(Mg)alloys are extensively used in the automotive and aircraft industries due to their prominent *** selection of appropriate process parameters is an important decision to be made because of the cost reduction and quality *** decision entails the selection of suitable process parameters concerning various conflicting factors,so it has to be addressed with the Multiple Criteria Decision Making(MCDM)***,this work addresses the MCDM problem through the TOPSIS(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution)and COPRAS(COmplex PRoportional ASsessment)*** assessment carried out in the material Mg AZ91 with the Solid Carbide(SC)drill *** dependent parameters like drilling time,burr height,burr thickness,and roughness are considered with the independent parameters like spindle speed and feed *** alternatives are ranked using the above said two methods and the results are *** optimum combination was found on the basis of TOPSIS and COPRAS for simultaneous minimization of all the responses which is found with a spindle speed of 4540 rpm and a feed rate of 0.076 mm/*** identical sequencing order was observed in TOPSIS and COPRAS *** empirical model was developed through Box-Behnken design for each *** empirical model developed for drilling time which is 3.959 times accurate than the conventional *** trends of various dependents based on the heterogeneity of various independents are not identical,these complex mechanisms are identified and *** optimized results of the Desirability Function Approach are greater accordance with the TOPSIS and COPRAS top *** confirmation results are observed with lesser deviation suggesting the selection of the above independent parameters.
