Histopathological and molecular study of Neospora caninum infection in bovine aborted fetuses

Objective:To estimate the extent to which abortion in dairy cows was associated with of Neospom caninum(***) and to determine the risk factors of neosporosis in dairy farms from 9 provinces in ***:Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) test was used to detect Neospora infection in the brain of 395 bovine aborted fetuses from 9 provinces of *** addition,the brains of aborted fetuses were taken for histopathological *** identify the risk factors associated with neosporosis,data analysis was performed by ***:*** was detected in 179(45%) out of 395 fetal brain samples of bovine aborted fetuses using *** the PCR-positive brain samples,only 56 samples were suited for histopathological *** characteristic lesions of Neospora infection including non-suppurative encephalitis were found in 16(28%) of PCR-positive *** risk factors including season,parity of dam,history of bovine virus diarrhea and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis infection in herd,cow's milk production,herd size and fetal appearance did not show association with the *** study showed that Neospora caused abortion was significantly more in the second trimester of pregnancy than other *** addition,a significant association was observed between Neospora infection and ***:The results showed *** infection was detected in high percentage of aborted *** addition,at least one fourth of abortions caused by Neospora *** results indicate increasing number of abortions associated with the protozoa more than reported before in Iran.

Epidemiology of livestock-related injuries in a major trauma center in Kashan, Iran

Objective： Livestock-related injuries are one of the important factors causing morbidity and mortality in patients admitted to hospital. Treatment of these patients is still a major problem in health care system. The aim of current study was to assess the epidemiology of livestock-related injuries in a major trauma center in Iran from 2006 to 2011. Methods： In a prospective study, patients with live- stock-related injuries who were consecutively admitted to the trauma center in Kashan, Iran between 2006 and 2011 were evaluated. The data collected included patient＇s demographics, place and nature of accident, damaged organ, educational level, transport and outcome. Data were expressed as mean±standard deviation. Results： A total of 129 patients were included in this study, accounting for 0.3% of all trauma admission （40 273 cases）. The mean age was （55.27±14.45） years. Men were affected four times more than women. Falling down from livestock is the main mechanism of trauma in all groups. Upper and lower extremities were most frequently injured （n=72）, followed by the head, neck and spine （n=33 for each）. There was one death resulting from livestock-related injury in this study. Conclusion： Despite the low incidence, livestock-related injuries can damage major organs of human body and therefore appropriate training program to increase the safety awareness in home and outdoor is very important.

Category-Based Intrusion Detection Using PCA

Existing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) examine all the network features to detect intrusion or misuse patterns. In feature-based intrusion detection, some selected features may found to be redundant, useless or less important than the rest. This paper proposes a category-based selection of effective parameters for intrusion detection using Principal Components Analysis (PCA). In this paper, 32 basic features from TCP/IP header, and 116 derived features from TCP dump are selected in a network traffic dataset. Attacks are categorized in four groups, Denial of Service (DoS), Remote to User attack (R2L), Remote to User attack (U2R) and Probing attack. TCP dump from DARPA 1998 dataset is used in the experiments as the selected dataset. PCA method is used to determine an optimal feature set to make the detection process faster. Experimental results show that feature reduction can improve detection rate for the category-based detection approach while maintaining the detection accuracy within an acceptable range. In this paper KNN classification method is used for the classification of the attacks. Experimental results show that feature reduction will significantly speed up the train and the testing periods for identification of the intrusion attempts.

Management of Environmental Protection and Sustainability in the Islamic Revolution

Conservation of environmental resources and divine merits does not mean the absence of exploitation or the minimal use of it, but to use it optimally and seamlessly. Therefore, awareness and education in the field of environmental ethics can have a spiritual guarantee in the light of faith and piety;considering the religious teachings and the experiences of the executives and officials of the Islamic Revolution that become more colorful topics such as environmental justice, environmental ethics, environmental degradation, health and optimal consumption. The expansion of morality is considered to be in the context of human-environmental relations as a revolutionary opportunity and an environmental imperative. In fact, the interests of man are in balance with the interests of other beings;as a result, there are solutions to protect the inhumane community against human harm. In this project, we used of library methods, review and integration on the basis of articles and environmental studies. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between religious beliefs and revolutionary approaches to the environment and environmental ethics. The mentioned verses and narratives, the leadership’s recommendations all emphasize on environmental protection;and authorities have done this knowledge and information in the best way to raise the level of education. The results of the research show the upward trend in the environment after the Islamic Revolution in the process of approving and drafting laws.

The Evolution of Botanical and Herbal Medicine in Islamic Civilization

Botanical science and medicinal plants are shaped by the translation movement in Islamic civilization and in the fifth century (AH), through the development of specialized media and the commencement of scientific and research trips, its foundations are strengthened. In the sixth and seventh centuries (AH), the development of the first botanical encyclopedias, the introduction of objective observations and practical experiences on theoretical issues, the prosperity of this science was provided by writing comprehensive books on medicinal plants and in the eighth century (AH). Like other intellectual and transcendental sciences, the loss of the past lost due to the decline of the writings and led to a recession. The Muslims played a role in preserving and building the body of knowledge of the Greek, Roman times. In fact, they gained this science from the distant paths. In the history of medicine, Islamic medicine is the science of medicine developed in the Islamic Golden Age, and written in Arabic, the lingua franca of Islamic civilization. In this article, we try to investigate the effect of Islamic scholars on the dynamics of medicinal herbs and the continuation of Muslim researches and innovations in the field of botany and medicinal herbs.

The effects of different autumn-seeded cover crops on subsequent irrigated corn response to nitrogen fertilizer

A common crop rotation in the west Iran is wheat-fallow-corn. The fallow period after wheat harvest (during fall and winter) can lead to soil erosion, nutrient losses (e.g. nitrate leaching) and offsite movement of pesticides. This period is an ideal time to establish a cover crop. In order to investigate the effects of different autumn-seeded cover crops on subsequent irrigated corn response to nitrogen fertilizer, field studies were carried out during the 2007-2008 growing season at the Agricultural Research Farm, Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran. The experiment was conducted in a split plot arrangement based on a randomized complete block design with three replications. The main plots consisted of four cover crops including alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.), common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) and winter rye (Secale cereale L.) and a control (no cover crop). The sub plots consisted of two fertilizer N rates (0 and 250 kg ha-1). Cover crops were grown for nearly 5 months and then were incorporated into the soil as green manures. The results indicated that corn plant traits including seed yield, the number of seeds per ear and leaf chlorophyll content were significantly influenced by cover crops. Whereas, the cover crops had no signif-icant effects on the number of ears per plant, 100-seed weight and harvest index of corn. Among the cover crop species, common vetch produced higher dry weight and showed the highest positive effects on the corn plant traits. Dry weight produced by this cover crop was 56.41, 120.16 and 124.19% higher than those of winter rye, berseem clover and alfalfa, respectively. Common vetch enhanced seed yield, the number of seeds per ear and leaf chlorophyll content of corn by 46.30, 21.95 and 8.52%, respectively, compared to control. All of the corn traits under study, except the number of ears per plant and harvest index were significantly improved by nitrogen fertilizer. In general, this study revealed that

The Role of Ecotourism Potentials in Ecological and Environmental Sustainable Development of Miankaleh Protected Region

Protected areas are considered as suitable environments for tourism development where the performance of tourism, consumer, and economic activities consistent with each region based on total management plan provides the context for sustainable tourism development. Therefore, the aim of the present study1 was to explore the role of ecotourism potentials in the environmental development of Miankaleh Protected Region using a descriptive, analytical, survey method. It also aimed to examine factors affecting sustainable tourism development in the region under study. The data were collected using documentation and library techniques, field methods, questionnaires, note taking, observation, and conducting interviews with people, tourists, and authorities in charge of ecotourism development. The research population included people living in Noushahr, of whom 384 families, 30 experts, and 100 tourists were selected as the respondents in the research sample using Cochrane formula. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, and Spearman test through SPSS. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between ecotourism potentials, environmental, economic and sociocultural development in the region under study.

Rapid detection of coliforms in drinking water of Arak city using multiplex PCR method in comparison with the standard method of culture(Most probably Number)

Objective:To analyse molecular detection of coliforms and shorten the time of ***:Rapid detection of coliforms by amplification of lacZ and uidA genes in a multiplex PCR reaction was designed and performed in comparison with most probably number(MPN)method for 16 artificial and 101 field *** molecular method was also conducted on isolated coliforms from positive MPN samples;standard sample for verification of microbial method certificated reference material;isolated strains from certificated reference material and standard *** PCR and electrophoresis parameters were changed for reducing the operation ***:Results of PCR for lacZ and uidA genes were similar in all of standard,operational and artificial samples and showed the 876 bp and 147 bp bands of lacZ and uidA genes by multiplex *** results were confirmed by MPN culture method by sensitivity 86%(95%CI:0.71-0.93).Also the total execution time,with a successful change of factors,was reduced to less than two and a half ***:Multiplex PCR method with shortened operation time was used for the simultaneous detection of total coliforms and Escherichia coli in distribution system of Arak ***'s recommended to be used at least as an initial screening test,and then the positive samples could be randomly tested by MPN.
