Bulk geochemistry,Sr,Nd,and O-h isotope systematics are reported for the first time on banded iron formation(BIF)-hosted high-grade iron ore at the northwestern segment of Congo Craton(CC).Located in Mbalam iron ore district,Southern Cameroon,Metzimevin iron ore deposit is a hematite-magnetite BIF system,dominated by SiO_(2)+Fe_(2)O_(3)(97.1 to 99.84 wt%),with low concentrations of clastic elements e.g.,Al_(2)O_(3),TiO_(2),and hFSE,depicting a nearly pure chemical *** REE+Y signature of the iron deposit displays strong positive Eu anomaly,strong negative Ce anomaly,and chondritic to superchondritic Y/ho ratios,suggestive of formation by mixed seawater-high temperature hydrothermal fluids in oxidising ***^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios of the BIF are higher than the maximum^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr evolution curves for all Archean reservoirs(bulk silicate earth,Archean crust and Archean seawater),indicating involvement of continentally-derived components during BIF formation and ***Ɛ_(Nd)(t)(+2.26 to+3.77)and Nd model age indicate that chemical constituents for the BIF were derived from undifferentiated crustal source,between 3.002 and 2.88 *** variable and diverse O and h isotope data(−1.9‰to 17.3‰and−57‰to 136‰respectively)indicate that the Metzimevin iron ore formed initially from magmatic plumes and later enriched by magmatic-metamorphic-modified meteoric *** balance calculations indicate mineralisation by combined leaching and precipitation,with an average iron enrichment factor of>2.67 and SiO_(2)depletion factor of>*** is associated with an overall volume reduction of 28.27%,reflecting net leaching and volume collapse of the BIF protholith.

BACKGROUND Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD)and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis(MASh)are a growing health burden across a significant portion of the global patient ***,these conditions seem to have disparate rates and outcomes between different ethnic *** combination of MASLD/MASh and type 2 diabetes increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma(hCC),and hispanic patients experience the greatest burden,particularly those in South *** To compare outcomes between hispanic and non-hispanic patients in the United States,while further focusing on the hispanic population within Southeast Texas to determine whether the documented disparity in outcomes is a function of geographical circumstance or if there is a more widespread reason that all clinicians must account for in prognostic *** This cohort analysis was conducted with data obtained from TriNetX,LLC(“TriNetX”),a global federated health research network that provides access to deidentified medical records from healthcare organizations *** cohort networks were used:University of Texas Medical Branch(UTMB)hospital and the United States national database collective to determine whether disparities were related to geographic regions,like Southeast *** This study findings revealed hispanics/Latinos have a statistically significant higher occurrence of hCC,type 2 diabetes mellitus,and liver fibrosis/cirrhosis in both the United States and the UTMB hispanic/Latino *** mortality in hispanics/Latinos was lower within the United States group and not statistically elevated in the UTMB *** This would appear to support that hispanic patients in Southeast Texas are not uniquely affected compared to the national hispanic population.

The proliferation of Internet of Things(IoT)devices that operate unattended providing a multitude of important and often sensitive services highlights the need for seamless interoperability and increased *** argue that digital twins of IoT devices,with the right design,can enhance the security,reliability,auditability,and interoperability of IoT *** salient features of digital twins have made them key elements for the IoT and Industry *** this paper,we leverage advances in W3C’s Web of Things(WoT)standards and distributed ledger technologies(DLTs)to present a novel design of the smart contract-based digital twins with enhanced security,transparency,interoperability,and *** provide two different variations of that general design using two different blockchains(one public and one private,permissioned blockchain),and we present design ***,we introduce an architecture for accessing and controlling IoT devices securely and reliably,providing full auditability,while at the same time using the proposed digital twins as an indirection mechanism(proxy).The proposed architecture leverages the blockchain to offer notable properties,namely,decentralization,immutability,auditability,non-repudiation,availability,and ***,it introduces mass actuation,easier management of IoT devices,and enhanced security to the IoT gateways,enables new business models,and makes consumer devices(vendor-)agnostic.

The Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)is a joint mission of the European Space Agency(ESA)and the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS).Primary goals are investigating the dynamic response of the Earth's magnetosphere to the solar wind(SW)impact via simultaneous in situ magnetosheath plasma and magnetic field measurements,X-Ray images of the magnetosheath and magnetic cusps,and UV images of global auroral *** deformations associated with magnetosheath high speed jets(hSJs)under a quasi-parallel interplanetary magnetic field condition are studied using a threedimensional(3-D)global hybrid *** X-ray intensity calculated based on both physical quantities of solar wind proton and oxygen ions is *** obtain key findings concerning deformations at the magnetopause:(1)Magnetopause deformations are highly coherent with the magnetosheath hSJs generated at the quasi-parallel region of the bow shock,(2)X-ray intensities estimated using solar wind h+and self-consistentO7+ions are consistent with each other,(3)Visual spacecraft are employed to check the discrimination ability for capturing magnetopause deformations on Lunar and polar orbits,*** SMILE spacecraft on the polar orbit could be expected to provide opportunities for capturing the global geometry of the magnetopause in the equatorial plane.A striking point is that SMILE has the potential to capture small-scale magnetopause deformations and magnetosheath transients,such as hSJs,at medium altitudes on its *** results also demonstrate that a lunar based imager(e.g.,Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager,LEXI)is expected to observe a localized brightening of the magnetosheath during hSJ events in the meridian *** preliminary results might contribute to the pre-studies for the SMILE and LEXI missions by providing qualitative and quantitative soft X-ray estimates of dayside kinetic processes.

Seasonal flu,primarily caused by influenza A h1N1 and h3N2 subtype viruses or influenza B viruses,is the most prevalent respiratory tract infection globally and leads to substantial morbidity andmortality *** the influenza virus being initially recognized as a respiratory pathogenwithwell-characterized transmission through respiratory droplets,its impact on the ocular epithelium and associated gene expression remains relatively *** this study,we investigated the transcriptional profiles of immortalized human corneal epithelial cells(hCE-S)and A549 human lung epithelial cells infected with h1N1 and h3N2 influenza *** comparison with A549 cells,a reduced number of differentially expressed geneswas observed in hCE-S upon influenza virus ***,there was a significant upregulation of the genes IFI44L and OAS1,along with lower release of the CCL5/RANTES ***,our findings revealed uniquely upregulated LGALS9(encoding galectin-9)in hCE-S following infection with the 2009 pandemic h1N1 ***,targeted knockdown of LGALS9 in these cells resulted in a measurable decrease in viral infection,highlighting its role in the cellular responses to influenza virus and suggesting a novel avenue for antiviral ***,our findings provide insight into the distinct mechanisms of influenza virus interactions with different epithelial cells and underscore the importance of studying the ocular surface in understanding influenza pathogenesis.

Effect of silicone oil on the microstructure, gelation and rheological properties of sorbitan monostearate–sesame oil oleogels

Oleogels contain oil or a non-polar liquid which is gelled with an agent called an organogelator. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the addition of silicone oil(cyclopentasiloxane) to the gelation process and to the properties of sorbitan monostearate(SMS)–sesame oil oleogel and compared with that of SMS–sesame oil oleogel and SMS–cyclopentasiloxane oleogel. Three different oil phases; sesame oil phase, cyclopentasiloxane phase and a mixture of cyclopentasiloxane and sesame oil, were used to prepare oleogels with SMS gelator. The critical gelling concentrations(CGC) for oleogels were determined using different concentration of SMS in a range of 5%–22%(w/w). The characterization of the developed oleogels was done using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), polarized light microscope, rheometer, X-ray diffraction(XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The addition of cyclopentasiloxane reduced the CGC of SMS–sesame oil oleogel from 20% to 10%(w/w). In microscopic characterization, the oleogels with a mixture of oil phases showed the longer and thicker three-dimensional gel network than that of oleogels with sesame oil and cyclopentasiloxane. FTIR studies demonstrated that this network formation was mainly due to hydrogen bonding. Rheological measurements revealed that the combination of cyclopentasiloxane and sesame oil produced strong gel with higher complex modulus values and longer linear viscoelastic region than oleogels prepared with sesame oil and cyclopentasiloxane. In addition, oleogels with the combination of the two oils had higher enthalpy( h m) and entropy( S m) thus could increase thermodynamic stability of the oleogels. Therefore, the addition of cyclopentasiloxane can improve the physical, ther-mal properties and stability of SMS–sesame oil oleogel, provide greater sensory profile and better product aesthetics. The developed oleogel can be a novel carrier for topical drug delivery.
