Integrating multiple photosensitive properties into an“all-in-one”photosensitizer(PS)shows great promise for the treatment of cancers owing to synergistic effect among ***,the development of such PSs,especially those that need a single laser source,remains a ***,we report an orchestration of electron donors and acceptors in a propeller-like pentad,PBI-4Cz,where four carbazole(Cz)units are covalently linked to the ortho-positions of the perylene bisimide(PBI)*** intramolecular donor-acceptor interaction significantly quenches the luminescence and largely extends the absorption spectra to near-infrared ***-state dynamics investigated via femto-and nano-second transient absorption spectroscopy revealed exclusive charge separation of the PBI-4Cz within initial 0.5 ps when photoexcited regardless of which intermediate is *** dissipation of the resulting charge-separated state(PBI^(•−)-4Cz^(•−))is subjected to the toggle between intersystem-crossing toward excited triplet states and charge recombination toward ground *** importance of the two pathways can be tuned by micro-environmental polarity,which endows PBI-4Cz remarkable performances of singlet-oxygen generation(>90.0%)in toluene and photothermal conversion(∼28.6%)in *** intrinsic photostability and excited-state processes of heavy-atom-free PBI derivatives not only holds a promise for multifunctional phototheranostics,but also provides a prototype for designing high-performance PSs with tunable photoconversion pathways.

An Improved Synthetic Method of Saquinavir

An improved synthetic method of saquinavir, an HIV protease inhibitor, is described. In comparison with the methods in the reported works, the improved procedures had several advantages, such as less expensive agents, shorter reaction time, and a smaller amount of the solvent needed. To measure the optical purities of the products, the intermediates were determined by means of chiral HPLC. Some of the intermediates can also be used for the preparation of new protease inhibitors.

Endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)and endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)are well-established therapeutics for gastrointestinal neoplasias,but complications after EMR/ESD,including bleeding and perforation,result in additional treatment morbidity and even threaten the lives of ***,designing biomaterials to treat gastric bleeding and wound healing after endoscopic treatment is highly desired and remains a ***,a series of injectable pH-responsive selfhealing adhesive hydrogels based on acryloyl-6-aminocaproic acid(AA)and AA-g-N-hydroxysuccinimide(AA-NHS)were developed,and their great potential as endoscopic sprayable bioadhesive materials to efficiently stop hemorrhage and promote the wound healing process was further demonstrated in a swine gastric hemorrhage/wound *** hydrogels showed a suitable gelation time,an autonomous and efficient self-healing capacity,hemostatic properties,and good *** the introduction of AA-NHS as a micro-cross-linker,the hydrogels exhibited enhanced adhesive strength.A swine gastric hemorrhage in vivo model demonstrated that the hydrogels showed good hemostatic performance by stopping acute arterial bleeding and preventing delayed bleeding.A gastric wound model indicated that the hydrogels showed excellent treatment effects with significantly enhanced wound healing with type I collagen deposition,α-SMA expression,and blood vessel *** injectable self-healing adhesive hydrogels exhibited great potential to treat gastric wounds after endoscopic treatment.

Novel Synthesis of Sol-gel Derived Nanosized Mullite Powder

Using hydrous aluminum chloride （AlCl3·6H2O） and silicon ethoxide （Si （OC2H5）4） as raw materials, a kind of nano-sized mullite powder was synthesized with the sol-gel process at the medium calcination temperature. The microstructures of the alumina-silica binary aerogel and calcined nano-sized materials were investigated by means of thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis （TG-DTA）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and X-ray diffractometer （XRD）. The results show that the mullitization of Al2O3-SiO2 in gel starts from about 1 000℃ and its formation ofmullite takes place in the range of 1 100℃-1 250 ℃. The size of the nano-sized mullite powder calcined at 1 250 ℃ is measured to be about 30 nm.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress sensitizes human esophageal cancer cell to radiation

AIM:To investigate the role of endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress in cancer radiotherapy and its molecular ***:Tunicamycin(TM) was applied to induce ER stress in human esophageal cancer cell line EC109,and the radiosensitization effects were detected by acute cell death and clonogenic survival *** cycle arrest induced by TM was determined by flow cytometric analysis after the cellular DNA content was labeled with propidium *** of EC109 cells induced by TM was detected by annexin V staining and Western blotting of caspase-3 and its substrate poly ADP-ribose *** response was determined by acridine orange(AO) staining and Western blotting of microtubule-associated protein-1 light chain-3(LC3) and autophagy related gene 5(ATG5).In order to test the biological function of autophagy,specific inhibitor or Beclin-1 knockdown was used to inhibit autophagy,and its effect on cell apoptosis was thus ***,involvement of the phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase(PI3K)/Akt/mammalian target of the rapamycin(mTOR) pathway was also detected by Western ***,male nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with EC109 cells were used to confirm cell model ***:Our results showed that TM treatment enhanced cell death and reduced the colony survival fraction induced by ionizing radiation(IR),which suggested an obvious radiosensitization effect of ***,TM and IR combination treatment led to a significant increase of G2/M phase and apoptotic cells,compared with IR *** also observed an increase of AO positive cells,and the protein level of LC3-II and ATG5 was induced by TM treatment,which suggested an autophagic response in EC109 ***,inhibition of autophagy by using a chemical inhibitor or Beclin-1 silencing led to increased cell apoptosis and decreased cell viability,which suggested a cytoprotective role of autophagy in stressed EC109 ***,TM treatment also activated mTORC1,and

Implications of agricultural success in the Yellow River Basin and its strategy for green development

The Yellow River Basin is an important food production area and an ecological challenge for China, where environmental protection and water scarcity are the major constraints. For the upper reaches of the Yellow River Basin,optimizing the adoption of chemicals in agricultural production and integrating crops with livestock are the key strategies for protecting the *** dryland agriculture in the middle and upper reaches, this study summarizes four aspects of efficient precipitation techniques in terms of collection,storage, conservation, and use, which have greatly improved crop yields and supported dryland crop production. Irrigated agriculture in the middle and lower reaches is the core area of China's grain production, where the area under water-saving irrigation reached 13.0 Mha in 2018, greatly improving water use. Compared with 1998, cereal production in 2018 increased by 62.2 Mt under similar total water withdrawals(49.7 billion to 51.6 billion m~3),and the annual soil erosion at the Tongguan Hydrological Observatory reduced by 584 million m~3 in 2018, achieving great success in environmental protection and efficient water use. The Chinese government has set a goal for the Yellow River Basin to become the national leader in environmental protection and efficient water use by 2035. Such a high demand requires the combined efforts of the whole community, as well as the adoption of new technologies,coordinated basin-wide development, and adequate policy support.

Thermal Conductivity of Complex Plasmas Using Novel Evan-Gillan Approach

The thermal conductivity of complex fluid materials （dusty plasmas） has been explored through novel Evan-Gillan homogeneous non-equilibrium molecular dynamic （HNEMD） algorithm. The thermal conductivity coefficient obtained from HNEMD is dependent on various plasma parameters （T,k）. The proposed algorithm gives accurate results with fast convergence and small size effect over a wide range of plasma parameters. The cross microscopic heat energy current is discussed in association with variation of temperature （1/Г） and external perturbations （Pz）. The thermal conductivity obtained from HNEMD simulations is found to be very good agreement and more reliable than previously known numerical techniques of equilibrium molecular dynarnic, nonequilibrium molecular dynamic simulations. Our new investigations point to an effective conclusion that the thermal conductivity of complex dusty plasmas is dependent on an extensive range of plasma coupling （P） and screening parameter （k） and it varies by the alteration in these parameters. It is also shown that a different approach is used for computations of thermal conductivity in 2D complex plasmas and can be appropriate method for behaviors of complex systems.
