Almond is appreciated for its nutraceutical value and for the aromatic profile of the *** this work,an almond collection composed of 96 Sicilian accessions complemented with 10 widely cultivated cultivars was phenotyped for the production of volatile organic compounds using a proton-transfer time-of-flight mass spectrometer and genotyped using the Illumina Infinium®18 K Peach SNP *** profiling of the aroma was carried out on fresh and roasted kernels enabling the detection of 150 mass *** eight,for the most related with sulfur compounds,furan containing compounds,and aldehydes formed by Strecker degradation,significantly increased during roasting,while the concentration of fifty-four mass peaks,for the most belonging to alcohols and terpenes,significantly *** hundred and seventy-one robust SNPs were selected and employed for population genetic *** analysis detected three subpopulations with the Sicilian accessions characterized by a different genetic stratification compared to those collected in Apulia(South Italy)and the International *** linkage-disequilibrium(LD)decay across the genome was equal to r^(2)=***,a high level of collinearity(r^(2)=0.96)between almond and peach was registered confirming the high synteny between the two genomes.A preliminary application of a genome-wide association analysis allowed the detection of significant marker-trait associations for 31 fresh and 33 roasted almond mass peaks *** accurate genetic and phenotypic characterization of novel germplasm can represent a valuable tool for the set-up of marker-assisted selection of novel cultivars with an enhanced aromatic profile.

Disjoint sampling is critical for rigorous and unbiased evaluation of state-of-the-art(SOTA)models e.g.,Attention graph and Vision *** training,validation,and test sets overlap or share data,it introduces a bias that inflates performance metrics and prevents accurate assessment of a model’s true ability to generalize to new *** paper presents an innovative disjoint sampling approach for training SOTA models for the Hyperspectral Image Classification(HSIC).By separating training,validation,and test data without overlap,the proposed method facilitates a fairer evaluation of how well a model can classify pixels it was not exposed to during training or *** demonstrate the approach significantly improves a model’s generalization compared to alternatives that include training and validation data in test data(A trivial approach involves testing the model on the entire Hyperspectral dataset to generate the ground truth *** approach produces higher accuracy but ultimately results in low generalization performance).Disjoint sampling eliminates data leakage between sets and provides reliable metrics for benchmarking progress in *** sampling is critical for advancing SOTA models and their real-world application to large-scale land mapping with Hyperspectral ***,with the disjoint test set,the performance of the deep models achieves 96.36%accuracy on Indian Pines data,99.73%on Pavia University data,98.29%on University of Houston data,99.43%on Botswana data,and 99.88%on Salinas data.

Smartphones have ubiquitously integrated into our home and work environments,however,users normally rely on explicit but inefficient identification processes in a controlled ***,when a device is stolen,a thief can have access to the owner’s personal information and services against the stored *** a result of this potential scenario,this work proposes an automatic legitimate user identification system based on gait biometrics extracted from user walking patterns captured by smartphone sensors.A set of preprocessing schemes are applied to calibrate noisy and invalid samples and augment the gait-induced time and frequency domain features,then further optimized using a non-linear unsupervised feature selection *** selected features create an underlying gait biometric representation able to discriminate among individuals and identify them *** classifiers are adopted to achieve accurate legitimate user *** experiments on a group of 16 individuals in an indoor environment show the effectiveness of the proposed solution:with 5 to 70 samples per window,KNN and bagging classifiers achieve 87–99%accuracy,82–98%for ELM,and 81–94%for *** proposed pipeline achieves a 100%true positive and 0%false-negative rate for almost all classifiers.

Osteoarthritis action alliance consensus opinion-best practice features of anterior cruciate ligament and lower limb injury prevention programs

AIM To identify best practice features of an anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) and lower limb injury prevention programs(IPPs) to reduce osteoarthritis(OA).METHODS This consensus statement started with us performing a systematic literature search for all relevant articles from 1960 through January 2017 in PubM ed, Web of Science and CINAHL. The search strategy combined the Medical Subject Heading(Me SH) and keywords for terms:(1) ACL OR "knee injury" OR "anterior cruciate ligament";(2) "prevention and control" OR "risk reduction" OR "injury prevention" OR "neuromuscular training"; and(3) meta-analysis OR "systematic review" OR "cohort study" OR randomized. We found 166 different titles. The abstracts were reviewed for pertinent papers. The papers were reviewed by at least two authors and consensus of best practice for IPP to prevent OA was obtained by conference calls and e-mail discussions. All authors participated in the *** The best practice features of an IPP have the following six components:(1) lower extremity and core strengthening;(2) plyometrics;(3) continual feedback to athletes regarding proper technique;(4) sufficient dosage;(5) minimal-to-no additional equipment; and(6) balance training to help prevent injuries. Exercises focused on preventing ankle sprains, hamstring injuries and lateral trunk movements are important. Plyometric exercises should focus on correcting knee valgus *** should focus on optimizing the hamstring to quadriceps strength ratio. In order for IPP to be successful, there should be increased education and verbal feedback along with increased athletic compliance. Additional equipment is not necessary. Balance training alone does not significantly reduce injuries, but is beneficial with other exercises. Micro RNAs in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) refers to a group of disorders that arise from the accrual of fat in hepatocytes. Although various factors have been associated with the development of NAFLD, including genetic predisposition and environmental exposures, little is known aboutthe underlying pathogenesis of the disease. Research efforts are ongoing to identify biological targets and signaling pathways that mediate NAFLD. Emerging evidence has implicated a role for micro RNAs(mi RNAs), short single-stranded molecules that regulate gene expression either transcriptionally, through targeting of promoter regions, or post-transcriptionally, by blocking translation or promoting cleavage of specific target m RNAs. Several mi RNAs have been associated with NAFLD, although our understanding of the biology underlying their role is still emerging. The goal of this review is to present an overview of the current state of knowledge of mi RNAs involved in the development of NAFLD across a range of in vitro and in vivo models, including mi RNAs that contribute to pathological mechanisms related to fatty liver in humans. Much less is known about the specific targets of mi RNAs in cells, nor the molecular mechanisms involved in the development and progression NAFLD and related outcomes. More recently, the identification and validation of mi RNA signatures in serum may facilitate the development of improved methods for diagnosis and clinical monitoring of disease progression.

Tumor progression and metastasis are the major causes of death among cancer associated *** cells acquire features of migration and invasion and usually undergo epithelia-mesenchymal transition(EMT).Acquirement of these various hallmarks rely on different cellular pathways,including TgF-βand Wnt ***,we reported that WW domain-containing oxidoreductase(WWOX)acts as a tumor suppressor and has anti-metastatic activities involving regulation of several key microRNAs(miRNAs)in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC).Here,we report that WWOX restoration in highly metastatic MDA-MB435S cancer cells alters mRNA expression profiles;further,WWOX interacts with various proteins to exert its tumor suppressor *** alignment and analysis of gene and miRNA expression in these cells revealed profound changes in cellular pathways mediating adhesion,invasion and *** further demonstrate that WWOX,through regulation of miR-146a levels,regulates SMAD3,which is a member of the TgF-βsignaling ***,proteomic analysis of WWOX partners revealed regulation of the Wnt-signaling activation through physical interaction with ***,these findings underscore a significant role for WWOX in antagonizing metastasis,further highlighting its role and therapeutic potential in suppressing tumor progression.

Rapid radiations in Fungi are only beginning to be studied with phylogenomic *** evolutionary history of the lichenized fungal order Peltigerales has not been well resolved,particularly for the ***,we used concatenation and coalescent-based species tree methods to reconstruct the phylogeny of the Peltigerales based on sequences of 125 nuclear single-copy exon sequences among 60 samples,representing 58 *** uneven,lineage-specific missing data and significant topological incongruence of individual exon trees,the resulting phylogenies were concordant and successfully resolved the phylogenetic relationships of the *** in the Collematineae were defined by short branches and lower nodal support than in other parts of the tree,due in part to conflicting signal in exon trees,suggesting rapid diversification events in the early evolution of the *** tree distance measures,we were able to identify a minimum subset of exons that could reconstruct phylogenetic relationships in Peltigerales with higher support than the 125-exon *** between the minimum and complete datasets in species tree inferences,bipartition analyses,and divergence time estimations displayed similar results,although the minimum dataset was characterized by higher levels of error in estimations of divergence *** our inferences from the complete and minimum datasets to those derived from few nuclear and mitochondrial loci reveal that our topology is concordant with topologies reconstructed using the nuclear large subunit and mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal DNA markers,but the target capture datasets had much higher support *** demonstrated how target capture approaches can effectively decipher ancient rapid radiations in cases where well resolved individual exon trees are sufficiently sampled and how to identify subsets of loci that are appropriate for fungal order-level phylogenetics.
