This study focuses on the potential role of plugin electric vehicles(PEVs) as a distributed energy storage unit to provide peak demand minimization in power distribution systems. Vehicle-to-grid(V2 g) power and currently available information transfer technology enables utility companies to use this stored energy. The V2 g process is first formulated as an optimal control ***, a two-stage V2 g discharging control scheme is proposed. In the first stage, a desired level for peak shaving and duration for V2 g service are determined off-line based on forecasted loading profile and PEV mobility model. In the second stage, the discharging rates of PEVs are dynamically adjusted in real time by considering the actual grid load and the characteristics of PEVs connected to the grid. The optimal and proposed V2 g algorithms are tested using a real residential distribution transformer and PEV mobility data collected from field with different battery and charger ratings for heuristic user case scenarios. The peak shaving performance is assessed in terms of peak shaving index and peak load reduction. Proposed solution is shown to be competitive with the optimal solution while avoiding high computational loads. The impact of the V2 g management strategy on the system loading at night is also analyzed by implementing an off-line charging scheduling algorithm.

Economic development, industrialization and dense population in Trabzon City have caused residential construction to increase by 300% in the last decade. The settlement area is moun- tainous and covered with heavy vegetation. Thus, the steep-sided topography and heavy precipita- tion means floods and landslides are common and in areas with little flat land. Since the mass movements in some parts of city create an enormous danger for buildings, site selection for residen- tial areas becomes increasingly important. This paper describes geotechnical and seismic properties of Tertiary volcanic rock and establishes the link between these units and construction. In this study, refraction tomography and multichannel analysis surface wave methods were applied in order to seek the best construction site in the residential area. The results of the geophysical study were com- pared with the borehole applications. A series of geomechnical tests were carried out on the core samples. Following that, statistical correlations were conducted by regression analysis to evaluate re- lationships between measured parameters. Rock Quality Designation and weathering degree were also determined. The methodology defined in this investigation proves to be an appropriate ap- proach to determine geotechnical properties of the foundation rocks and soils and a proper guide on future geotechnical studies for other cities.

Comparison of one and three initial monthly intravitreal ranibizumab injection in patients with macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion

AIM： To compare three initial monthly intravitreal ranibizumab（IVR） injections followed by pro re nata（PRN） dosing with one initial monthly IVR injections followed by PRN dosing for macular edema（ME） secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion（BRVO）.METHODS： Forty-two eyes of 42 patients who had IVR injections for BRVO were retrospectively studied. Eighteen eyes received 1 initial IVR injection（1＋PRN group） and 24 eyes received 3 monthly IVR injections（3＋PRN）. At 1, 3, 6 and 12mo; spectral-domain optical coherence tomography（SD-OCT） was performed. Central macular thickness（CMT）, the integrity of the external limiting membrane（ELM）, the presence of subretinal fluid, cyst size, the presence of inner segment/outer segment（IS/OS） defect were ***： At baseline the mean CMT was 521.3±153.2 μm in the 3＋PRN group while it was 438.1±162.4 μm in 1＋PRN group. At the final visit, mean CMT was 278.3±87.8 μm in the 3＋PRN group and 285.2±74.2 μm in the 1＋PRN group（P=0.079）. The changes in CMT over the entire study period were also comparable in both groups（243±160 μm in the 3＋PRN group, and 152.9±175.3 μm in the 1＋PRN group; P=0.090）. At baseline, best-corrected visual acuity（BCVA） was 0.92±0.60 logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution（logMAR） in the 3＋PRN group, while it was 0.72±0.46 logMAR in the 1＋PRN group. Final BCVA was 0.42±0.55 logMAR in the 3＋PRN group and 0.38±0.50 logMAR in the 1＋PRN group（P=0.979）. Additionally, the BCVA changes from baseline to final visit were not significantly different（-0.50±0.45 logMAR in the 3＋PRN group, and-0.33±0.39 logMAR in the 1＋PRN group; P=0.255）.CONCLUSION： No significant differences in the anatomical or functional results are found between 3＋PRN and 1＋PRN regimens in the patients receiving ranibizumab for ME secondary to BRVO. Intact IS/OS and baseline BCVA are good predictor of the visual gain, while baseline CMT is a good predictor of the anatomical gain.

The lattice parameters,bulk modulus,rst derivative of the bulk modulus,electronic band structures,phonon dispersion curves and phonon density of states calculations for Li_(2)Alga and Li_(2)AlIn Heusler alloys are performed and compared in this study using density functional theory within the generalized gradient *** lattice parameters display a good agreement with the *** electronic band structures of both Heusler alloys show that they are in semi-metallic *** dispersion curves and the phonon density of states graphs are also obtained in order to study the lattice dynamics of these Heusler *** is noticed that Li_(2)Alga and Li_(2)AlIn Heusler alloys are dynamically stable in the ground state.

AIM： To evaluate the clinical, radiological, and treatment features of lacrimal gland ***： Retrospective review of 99 eyes of 92 patients with lacrimal gland tumors diagnosed and managed in a single institution between January 1999 and March 2017. Clinical and radiological features, histopathology, treatment methods, and prognosis were ***： The mean patient age was 40.3（range： 7-80）*** diagnosis was made histopathologically in 91（91.9%） tumors and on a clinical and radiological basis in 8（8.1%） tumors. Final diagnoses included idiopathic orbital inflammation（pseudotumor） in 46（46.5%） lesions, pleomorphic adenoma in 14（14.1%）, adenoid cystic carcinoma in 12（12.1%）, granulomatous inflammation in 10（10.1%）, lymphoma in 5（5.0%）, benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia in 3（3.0%）, dacryops in 3（3.0%）, carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma in 2（2.0%）, adenocarcinoma in 1（1.0%）, dermoid cyst in 1（1.0%）, cavernous hemangioma in 1（1.0%）, and leukemic infiltration in 1（1.0%）. Nonepithelial tumors comprised 64.6%（n=64） of all lacrimal gland tumors, epithelial tumors 32.3%（n=32）, dermoid cyst 1%（n=1）, cavernous hemangioma 1%（n=1）, and leukemic infiltration 1%（n=1）. There were in total 78（78.8%） benign and 21（21.2%） malignant tumors. CONCLUSION： Overall, 65% of lacrimal gland tumors were of non-epithelial origin and 32% of epithelial origin. By histopathology and clinical evaluation, 79% of lacrimal gland tumors were benign. The most common lacrimal gland tumors include idiopathic orbital inflammation（46.5%）, epithelial（32.3%）, and lymphoproliferative（8.1%） lesions.

great strides have been made over the past decade to establish femtosecond lasers in advanced manufacturing systems for enabling new forms of non-contact processing of transparent *** advances have shown that a myriad of additive and subtractive techniques is now possible for flexible 2D and 3D structuring of such materials with micro-and nano-scale *** this paper,these techniques have been refined and scaled up to demonstrate the potential for 3D writing of high-density optical packaging components,specifically addressing the major bottleneck for efficiently connecting optical fibres to silicon photonic(SiP)processors for use in telecom and data *** 84-channel fused silica interposer was introduced for high-density edge coupling of multicore fibres(MCFs)to a SiP *** laser irradiation followed by chemical etching was further harnessed to open alignment sockets,permitting rapid assembly with precise locking of MCF positions for efficient coupling to laser written optical waveguides in the interposer.A 3D waveguide fanout design provided an attractive balancing of low losses,modematching,high channel density,compact footprint,and low *** 3D additive and subtractive processes thus demonstrated the potential for higher scale integration and rapid photonic assembly and packaging of micro-optic components for telecom interconnects,with possible broader applications in integrated biophotonic chips or micro-displays.

Microplastics in municipal wastewater treatment plants:a case study of Denizli/Turkey

Plastic particles smaller than 5 mm are *** are among the significant pollutants that recently attracted *** quantities of microplastics enter the sewage system daily and reach wastewater treatment plants （WWTPs）.As a result,WWTPs are potential microplastic ***,they create a pathway for microplastics to reach aquatic environments with treated wastewater *** on microplastic characterization in WWTPs have gained momentum in *** study investigates the abundance,size,shape,color,polymer type,and removal efficiencies of microplastics in a municipal wastewater treatment plant （WWTP） in Denizli/*** results showed that the dominant microplastic shape in wastewater samples was fibers （41.78%-60.77%） in the 100-500μm （58.57%-80.07%） size *** of the microplastics were transparent-white（32.86%-58.93%）.The dominant polymer types were polyethylene （54.05%） and polyethylene vinyl acetate （37.84%） in raw ***,the microplastic removal efficiencies of the Denizli Central WWTP as a whole and for individual treatment units were *** the microplastic pollution removal efficiency of the Denizli Central WWTP was over 95%,the microplastic concentration discharged daily into the receiving environment was considerably high(1.28×1010MP/d).Thus,Denizli Central WWTP effluents result in a high volume of emissions in terms of microplastic pollution with a significant daily discharge to the?ürüksu Stream.
