For the last 40 years,the study of cooperative breeding(CB)in birds has proceeded prim.rily in the context of discovering the ecological,geographical,and behavioral drivers of *** advent of m.lecular tools in the early 1990s assisted in clarifying the relatedness of helpers to those helped,in som. cases,confirm.ng predictions of kin selection *** for genom.-wide analysis of sequence variation,gene expression,and epigenetics prom.se to add new dim.nsions to our understanding of avian CB,prim.rily in the area of m.lecular and developm.ntal correlates of delayed breeding and dispersal,as well as the ontogeny of achieving parental status in ***,we outline key ways in which m.dern-om.cs approaches,in particular genom. sequencing,transcriptom.cs,and epigenetic profiling such as ATAC-seq,can be used to add a new level of ana-lysis of avian *** on recent and ongoing studies of avian social behavior and sociogenom.ics,we review how high-throughput sequencing of a focal species or clade can provide a robust foundation for downstream.context-dependent destructive and non-destructive sam.ling of spe-cific tissues or physiological states in the field for analysis of gene expression and epigenetics.-Om.cs approaches have the potential to inform.not only studies of the diversification of CB over evolutionary tim.,but real-tim. analyses of behavioral interactions in the field or *** of birds represents a new branch in the network of m.thods used to study CB,and can help clarify ways in which the different levels of analysis of CB ultim.tely interact in novel and unexpected ways.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, and is estim.ted to be the cause of 13.1 m.llion deaths in 2030. Breast cancer is the second cancer in the global m.rtality ranking, considering both sexes. Due to the burden of breast cancer worldwide, this paper aim. to present an overview of the m.in R&D efforts focusing on breast cancer treatm.nt. Patents were retrieved from.the Derwent Innovations Index?, which has a specific code for pharm.ceuticals related to breast cancer. A total of 423 patent docum.nts filed in recent years were identified, of which 126 are exclusively for breast cancer, 169 for breast cancer and other cancers, and 128 are inventions related to the treatm.nt of cancer and other diseases. The patent docum.nts were classified into two large groups, the first of which had a predom.nance of claim. for antibodies, proteins and polypeptides for use in m.dication production, while the second focuses on gene therapy, nucleotides and RNA. The country with the m.jority of priority patent applications was found to be the United States, followed by China and Japan.

A New Device for Interm.ttent Em.tying of the Bladder in Children and Adults: A Long-Term.Follow-Up

Contextualization: Em.tying the bladder is a challenging problem.for the urological com.unity. Interm.ttent catheterization is the m.st widely used m.thod to restore bladder em.tying m.chanism. However, this procedure can have a negative im.act on self-im.ge and result in a decline in the quality of life of patients. In this context, the use of a bladder em.tying device (SVCATH3D) proposes to be effective and have a positive im.act on the quality of life of different patients. Objective: The objective of the study was to evaluate the functionality of a new device for both interm.ttent and controlled em.tying of the bladder in both sexes and ages. m.terials and m.thods: A random.zed clinical trial was conducted with 251 patients, with different bladder problem., from.m.rch 2013 to January 2023. After random.zation, the patients were divided into two groups: Group I (SVCATH3D) and Group II (Clean Interm.ttent Catheterization). The prim.ry outcom. was defined as the im.act on quality of life. Data on episodes of urinary tract infection, adverse effects, num.er of diaper use and treatm.nt costs were analyzed. Results: The apposition of the SVCATH3D was perform.d on an outpatient basis, with no com.lications during the procedures. The patients were followed up for 10 years. There was a significant im.rovem.nt in quality of life when com.aring the m.m.nts before and after the use of SVCATH3D (p Conclusion: The study using SVCATH3D showed prom.sing results in relation to functionality, showing im.rovem.nt in quality of life with a reduction in episodes of urinary infection and am.unt of diapers/day. This allows us to conclude that SVCATH3D can represent an im.ortant step in the treatm.nt of patients suffering from.various bladder problem. both incontinence and affecting em.tying m.chanism.

The Aging Bladder in Fem.les Evaluated by Urodynam.cs

Aim. To determ.ne whether bladder functions deteriorate with age. m.thods: Data contained in electronic m.dical record (INFOm.D?) were used in this institutional retrospective review. Analysis was done on the urodynam.c studies in wom.n over 18 years old conducted between m.y 2011 and Novem.er 2015. Patients with previous history of pelvic surgery or radiotherapy, neurological disease, vaginal prolapse greater than grade I, congenital urogenital m.lform.tions, urinary obstructive disease, diabetes, or the use of any m.dication that could interfere with bladder function were excluded from.the analysis. The urodynam.c param.ters analyzed were the m.xim.m.Cystom.tric Capacity (m.C), Voiding Volum. (VV), m.xim.m.Flow (Qm.x), Bladder Com.liance (BC), Detrusor Pressure at m.xim.m.Flow (PdetQm.x), Bladder Contractility Index (BCI), Bladder Voiding Efficiency (BVE) and Post-Void Residual Urine Volum. (PVR). Patients were further stratified in five groups according to age (A—18 to 40;B—41 to 50;C—51 to 60;D—61 to 70;E—over 70 years old). Results: Out of 3103 urodynam.c studies analyzed, 719 were eligible for the study. The average age of patients was 49.3 (+13.2) years old and in all evaluated param.ters, statistically significant correlation between age and decline of bladder function was obtained (p Conclusions: This study showed a decline in bladder storage function (reduction in m.C and BC) and in bladder em.tying function (reduction in Qm.x, PdetQm.x, VV, BCI and BVE with an increase in PVR) with age.

Phytoplankton Productivity and Hydrology in an Im.acted Estuarine Com.lex in Northeastern Brazil

The aim.of the current study was to evaluate the productive capacity of the phytoplankton com.unity and other environm.ntal variables in the estuarine area of Suape;while considering the constant m.rphological, sedim.ntological and hydrological changes, the site has been facing due to the im.lem.ntation and expansion of an industrial and port com.lex. The study com.rised 6 cam.aigns: 3 in the dry season and 3 in the rainy season. Water sam.les were collected from.the surface layer of the internal and external portions of the estuarine bay during low spring tides. The salinity ranged from.32.20 to 37.10, the water tem.erature ranged from.26.60°C to 29.40°C, and the oxygen saturation rate ranged from.58.5% to 114.5%. There was significant seasonal variation. The nitrite concentration was higher during the rainy season, whereas the am.onia concentration was higher during the dry season;the higher am.onia concentration helped increase chlorophyll-a levels and rates of prim.ry productivity, which ranged from.0.02 - 2.45 m.·m.#8722;3 and from.0.34 to 4.32 m.·C·m.#8722;3·h−1, respectively. Chlorophyll-a a-containing biom.ss, and this reflected the low nutrient content in the water and indicated that the area was free from.eutrophication processes. The decrease of rainfall during the sam.ling m.nths and the anthropogenic changes in the environm.nt led to reduced continental contributions, increased m.rine interference, nutrient dilution and loss of phytoplankton production capacity in Suape Bay, which severely dam.ged other trophic links in the ecosystem.
