Introduction: Metabolic acidosis (MA) is a frequent alteration in chronic kidney disease (CKD) that is associated with numerous complications, which is why its correction is recommended. Oral sodium bicarbonate is currently the treatment of choice. Objective: The objective is to determine if venous bicarbonate is equal to arterial bicarbonate in the follow-up of a patient with chronic kidney disease. Materials Methods: Single-center Cross-sectional studies in a cohort of adult patients with stage 4 - 5 CKD. Samples were taken between January 2022 and January 2023, in a Clinic in the city of Ibague/ Colombia obtained from the radial artery. The inclusion criteria were: not being treated with alkaline at the time of inclusion. Results: A total of 71 patients were included, 73.2% male (52) and 26.8% female (19), with different stages: stage 3 with 5.6% (4), stage 4 with 60.6% (43), stage 5 with 33.8% (23). 66.2% were diabetic, 88.7% had arterial hypertension, and 15.5% of the patients presented hematoma as a complication and pain associated with arterial puncture. The result of mean venous bicarbonate was 18.8 with a standard deviation of 2.3, arterial bicarbonate a mean of 19.4 with a standard deviation of 2.1 with a value of P 0.46, venous pH with a mean of 7.37 with a standard deviation of 0.48 and a mean arterial pH of 7.38 with a standard deviation of 0.48 with a P value of 0.01. Values of venous bicarbonate compared to arterial bicarbonate showed no statistically significant difference in patients with chronic kidney disease, but there were more complications such as hematoma and pain in patients in the arterial puncture cohort, because of this result venous bicarbonate corresponds to arterial bicarbonate, but has less risk of complications associated with the procedure. In Arabidopsis thaliana, multiple genes involved in shoot apical meristem （SAM） transitions have been char- acterized, but the mechanisms required for the dynamic attainment of vegetative, inflorescence, and floral meristem （VM, IM, FM） cell fates during SAM transitions are not well understood. Here we show that a MADS-box gene, XAANTAL2 （XAL2/AGL14）, is necessary and sufficient to induce flowering, and its regula- tion is important in FM maintenance and determinacy, xal2 mutants are late flowering, particularly under short-day （SD） condition, while XAL2 overexpressing plants are early flowering, but their flowers have vege- tative traits. Interestingly, inflorescences of the latter plants have higher expression levels of LFY, AP1, and TFL1 than wild-type plants. In addition we found that XAL2 is able to bind the TFL1 regulatory regions. On the other hand, the basipetal carpels of the 35S：：XAL2 lines lose determinacy and maintain high levels of WUS expression under SD condition. To provide a mechanistic explanation for the complex roles of XAL2 in SAM transitions and the apparently paradoxical phenotypes of XAL2 and other MADS-box （SOCl, AGL24） over- expressors, we conducted dynamic gene regulatory network （GRN） and epigenetic landscape modeling. We uncovered a GRN module that underlies VM, IM, and FM gene configurations and transition patterns in wild- type plants as well as loss and gain of function lines characterized here and previously. Our approach thus provides a novel mechanistic framework for understanding the complex basis of SAM development.

Valproic acid (VPA) is used in the treatment of epilepsy and behavioral disorders. However, the exposure to VPA during pregnancy increases the risk of having offspring with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Reports indicate that men are more likely to suffer ASD than women who were exposed to VPA prenatally. Few studies have related the sex differences and behavioral changes in the ASD rat model. Our aim was to determinate whether male and female Wistar rats whose mothers were exposed to either VPA (600 mg/kg;animal model for ASD) or saline (0.9%) i.p. at 12.5 day of gestation, have different effects on immobility induce by clamping (IC), dorsal immobility (DI), catalepsy, locomotor activity, stereotypes, and analgesia (tail flick). For this purpose, we made four groups (n = 8). Group: A) saline male rats, B) saline female rats, C) VPA male rats and D) VPA female rats. At 35 (prepubertal age), 56 (postpubertal age) and 180 days, we tested the behaviors previously mentioned. Finding that VPA has the same effect on IC, catalepsy, and analgesia in male and female rats, the time of these tests was increased. However, VPA only has an effect on DI in males but not in female rats. On the contrary, there is hyperactivity and an increase of stereotypes in female but not in male rats. Thereby, VPA has an effect on the three immobility responses tested (IC, DI and catalepsy), locomotor activity and analgesia but in a differential way on DI, stereotypes and locomotor activity between male and female rats.

AIM:To examine the effect of gastric bypass surgery on cardiometabolic health among women with polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS).METHODS:Retrospective medical chart review identified women(n = 389) with PCOS who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery from 2001-2009 in one surgical *** repeated measures linear mixed models were fit using the MIXED procedureto assess mean change in cardiometabolic disease risk factors from before to 1-year after surgery and were evaluated by ethnicity [Hispanic,non-Hispanic black(NHB) and white(NHW)].RESULTS:The majority of the sample was Hispanic(66%,25% NHB,9% NHW).Mean body mass index significantly improved 1 year post-surgery for all ethnic groups(45.5 to 35.5 kg/m2 for Hispanics,46.8 to 37.7 kg/m2 for NHB and 45.7 to 36.7 kg/m2 for NHW,P density lipoproteins(LDL) cholesterol(120.9 to 91.0 mg/dL),triglycerides(148.6 to 104.8 mg/dL),hemoglobin A1c(6.2% to 5.6%),alanine aminotransferase(28.1 to 23.0 U/L) and aspartate aminotransferase(23.5 to 21.6 U/L) decreased significantly(P des(99.7 to 70.0 mg/dL) decreased significantly(P decreased significantly(P < 0.05).Pairwise ethnic group comparisons of all cardiometabolic outcomes adjusted for age and type of surgery before and 1 year after surgery showed no statistical difference between the three groups for any ***:Cardiometabolic disease risk improvements vary by ethnicity and obesity may impact glucose tolerance and liver function changes more in Hispanic women with PCOS vs non-Hispanic women.

AIM To investigate the main current etiologies of cirrhosis in *** We performed a cross-sectional retrospective multicenter study that included eight hospitals in different areas of Mexico. These hospitals provide health care to people of diverse social classes. The inclusion criteria were a histological, clinical, biochemical, endoscopic, or imaging diagnosis of liver cirrhosis. Data were obtained during a 5-year period(January 2012-december 2017). RESULTS A total of 1210 patients were included. The mean age was 62.5 years(SD = 12.1), and the percentages of men and women were similar(52.0% vs 48.0%). The most frequent causes of liver cirrhosis were hepatitis C virus(HCV)(36.2%), alcoholic liver disease(ALD)(31.2%), and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(23.2%), and the least frequent were hepatitis B virus(1.1%), autoimmune disorders(7.3%), and other conditions(1.0%).CONCLUSION HCV and ALD are the most frequent causes of cirrhosis in Mexico. However, we note that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) as an etiology of cirrhosis increased by 100% compared with the rate noted previously. We conclude that NAFLD will soon become one of the most frequent etiologies of liver cirrhosis in Mexico.

We present a case of a myxoid and lipomatous solitary fibrous tumor that was observed in a 67-year-old man. The tumor, which had a maximum diameter of 10 cm, was located in the soft tissues of the dorsal region and appeared macroscopically well delimited and encapsulated. Upon cutting, a markedly gelatinous internal surface was observed. A microscopic study revealed an intense and diffusely myxoid neoplasia, with small areas of adipose aspect, in which histological (staghorn vessels, perivascular hyalinization, fusiform cells of benign aspect) and immunohistochemical (intensive positivity for CD34, Bcl-2 and Cd99 and negativity for muscle markers) data were consistent with a solitary fibrous tumor were observed. To conclude, the main characteristics of this lesion are discussed, and a differential diagnosis is established with other entities.

Pesticides Recovery and detection from Agricultural Soil Leachates Using Gas Chromatography Masses with Electron Capture detector

In this study, it is reported an analytical approach to recover organochlorine pesticides from a clay soil. Soil was physical and chemically characterized. Also pesticides extraction was carried out using packed columns and various aqueous media (H2O-milliQ, NaOH, HCl, SDS, Triton X-114, Humic acids and Acetonitrile). The leachate samples were analyzed on an Agilent Technologies 6890N Gas Chromatograph with electron capture in a# AB002 Column 30.0 m × 250 μm × 0.25 μm calibrated, 25 psi pressure, flow 2.9 ml/min, temperature 25°C, ultra-high purity Helium as the entrainment gas and an elution time of 50 min. The results show that the highest extraction percentage of pollutants in the soil washing was obtained with acetonitrile recovering: p, p’-DDT (91.0%);p, p’-Dde (92.0%);p, p’-DDD (96.0%);aldrin (98.6%);dieldrin (98.0%). With Triton X-114, the extractions recovery was: p, p’-DDT (63.0%);p, p’-Dde (64.0%);p, p’-DDD (65.0%);aldrin (67.0%);dieldrin (72.0%). This study illustrates the potential Applicability of SPME for routine analysis of organochlorine pesticides in soils.

Segmented all-electron basis set of triple zeta valence quality plus polarization functions(TZP)for the elements of the fifth row to be used together with the zero-order regular approximation(ZORA)is carefully *** correctly describe electrons distant from atomic nuclei,the basis set is augmented with diffuse functions giving rise to a set designated as *** the ZORA-B3LYP theoretical level,these sets are used to calculate the ionization energy and mean dipole polarizability of some atoms,bond length,dissociation energy,and harmonic vibrational frequency of diatomic ***,these results are compared with the theoretical and experimental data found in the *** considering that our sets are relatively compact,they are sufficiently accurate and reliable to perform property calculations involving simultaneously electrons from the inner shell and outer *** performances of the ZORA and second-order Douglas-Kroll-Hess Hamiltonians are evaluated and the results are also discussed.
