Micronutrient deficiencies in patients with chronic atrophic autoimmune gastritis: A review

Chronic atrophic autoimmune gastritis (CAAG) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease characterized by an immune response, which is directed towards the parietal cells and intrinsic factor of the gastric body and fundus and leads to hypochlorhydria, hypergastrinemia and inadequate production of the intrinsic factor. As a result, the stomach’s secretion of essential substances, such as hydrochloric acid and intrinsic factor, is reduced, leading to digestive impairments. The most common is vitamin B12 deficiency, which results in a megaloblastic anemia and iron malabsorption, leading to iron deficiency anemia. However, in the last years the deficiency of several other vitamins and micronutrients, such as vitamin C, vitamin D, folic acid and calcium, has been increasingly described in patients with CAAG. In addition the occurrence of multiple vitamin deficiencies may lead to severe hematological, neurological and skeletal manifestations in CAAG patients and highlights the importance of an integrated evaluation of these patients. Nevertheless, the nutritional deficiencies in CAAG are largely understudied. We have investigated the frequency and associated features of nutritional deficiencies in CAAG in order to focus on any deficit that may be clinically significant, but relatively easy to correct. This descriptive review updates and summarizes the literature on different nutrient deficiencies in CAAG in order to optimize the treatment and the follow-up of patients affected with CAAG.

The thesis stems from the study carried out by two students on two different topics water,typology and new design *** union of these studies resulted in a project capable of solving various problems,managing the project under various scales of detail thanks to the BIM *** thesis,specially,observe the aspect of water management in China in relation to current urban transformations and the contemporary debate regarding climate *** thesis aims to open with a collective study on the typology of the area taken into consideration in order to understand the history and new needs of the inhabitants of Hehua Tang.A specific portion of the urban fabric is then selected to graft a design strategy that is based on the redesign of two pivotal elements,the historical fabric of the Chinese city in relation to the rethinking of macro-objects resulting from Nanjing's rapid and uncontrolled *** objective of the research work is to explore the transformative possibilities of a Chinese city,Hehua Tang,through a methodology that attempts to combine two different approaches: on the one hand,the typological reading of the Chinese city as a design tool that in the study of the ancient city finds the basis for the redesign of the future city;on the other hand,the use of a complex and structured workflow related to BIM,which starting from the design of the land,a pivotal element for water management,reaches the modeling of architectural and plant objects,at different scales of detail.

Myeloid cells in tumor tissues constitute a dynamic immune population characterized by a non-uniform phenotype and diverse functional *** tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs),which are more abundantly represented,and tumor-associated neutrophils(TANs)are known to sustain tumor cell growth and invasion,support neoangiogenesis and suppress anticancer adaptive immune *** recent decades,several therapeutic approaches have been implemented in preclinical cancer models to neutralize the tumor-promoting roles of both TAMs and *** of the most successful strategies have now reached the clinic and are being investigated in clinical *** this review,we provide an overview of the recent literature on the evergrowing complexity of the biology of TAMs and TANs and the development of the most promising approaches to target these populations therapeutically in cancer patients.

Seismotectonics of Southern Calabria Terrane(South Italy)

Seismic data of earthquakes recorded during the last 40 years in southern Calabria have been compared with geological data in order to obtain a seismotectonic picture of the area. We sought for any possible correlation between the main regional tectonic structures, the distribution of earthquake hypocentres and the focal mechanism of earthquakes with magnitude(Ml)≥*** of historical and recent seismicity and analysis of geological structures allowed to define the main shear strips on a regional scale. More than 2600 earthquakes with 1.5 ≤ Ml ≤ 4.5 have been considered. The focal mechanisms of earthquakes with Ml≥3 have been compared with the kinematics of known faults and used to give insight on the current active stress field. From the analysis carried out it was possible to expand the cognitive framework regarding the activity of the main tectonic structures present in the area. This study also served to identify areas of high seismicity which do not correspond to any evidence of tectonic structures on the surface, and areas where recognized tectonic structures have not shown any seismicity during the last decades. These cases could be the subject of future investigation in order to correctly assess the seismic hazard in *** task is important in the context of seismic hazard evaluation and mitigation.

Do pathological variables have prognostic significance in rectal adenocarcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and surgery?

To clarify which factors may influence pathological tumor response and affect clinical outcomes in patients with locally advanced rectal carcinoma treated with neo-adjuvant chemoradiotherapy and *** regression grade (TRG) according to the Dworak system and yTNM stage were assessed and correlated with pre-treatment clinico-pathological variables in 215 clinically locally advanced (cTNM stage II and III) rectal carcinomas. Prognostic value of all pathological and clinical factors on disease free survival (DFS) and cancer specific survival (CSS) was analyzed by Kaplan Meier and Cox-regression ***+ status, mucinous histotype or poor differentiation in the pre-treatment biopsy were significantly associated with lower pathological response (low Dworak grade and TNM remaining unchanged/upstaging). Cases showing acellular mucin pools in surgical specimens all had unremarkable clinical courses with no deaths or recurrences during follow-up. Dworak grade had prognostic significance for DFS and CSS. However, compared to the 5-tiered system, a simplified two-tiered grading system, in which grades 0, 1 and 2 were grouped as absent/partial regression and grades 3 and 4 were grouped as total/subtotal regression, was more reproducible and prognostically informative. The two-tiered Dworak system, yN stage, craniocaudal extension of the tumor and radial margin status were significant independent prognostic *** data suggest that caution should be applied in using a conservative approach in rectal carcinomas with cN+ status, extensive/lower involvement of the rectum and mucinous histotype or poor differentiation. Although Dworak TRG is prognostically significant, a simplified two-tiered system could be preferable. Finally, cases with acellular mucin pools should be carefully evaluated to definitely exclude residual mucinous carcinoma.

Fundamental organelles that occur in every cell type with the exception of mammal erythrocytes,the mitochondria are required for multiple pivotal processes that include the production of biological energy,the biosynthesis of reactive oxygen species,the control of calcium homeostasis,and the triggering of cell *** disruption of anyone of these processes has been shown to impact strongly the function of all cells,but especially of *** this review,we discuss the role of the mitochondria impairment in the development of the neurodegenerative diseases Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis,Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's *** highlight how mitochondria disruption revolves around the processes that underlie the mitochondria's life cycle:fusion,fission,production of reactive oxygen species and energy *** genetic and sporadic forms of neurodegenerative diseases are unavoidably accompanied with and often caused by the dysfunction in one or more of the key mitochondrial ***,in order to get in depth insights into their health status in neurodegenerative diseases,we need to focus into innovative strategies aimed at characterizing the various mitochondrial *** techniques include Mitostress,Mitotracker,transmission electron microscopy,oxidative stress assays along with expression measurement of the proteins that maintain the mitochondrial *** will also discuss a panel of approaches aimed at mitigating the mitochondrial *** include canonical drugs,natural compounds,supplements,lifestyle interventions and innovative approaches as mitochondria transplantation and gene *** conclusion,because mitochondria are fundamental organelles necessary for virtually all the cell functions and are severely impaired in neurodegenerative diseases,it is critical to develop novel methods to measure the mitochondrial state,and novel therapeutic strategies aimed at improving their health.

Non-invasive evaluation of intestinal disorders: The role of elastographic techniques

Over the recent years the non-invasive techniques for the evaluation of the small bowel have been playing a major role in the management of chronic intestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD). The diagnostic performances of magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and ultrasound in the field of small bowel disorders, have been assessed and established for more than two decades. Newer sonographic techniques, such as strain elastography and shear wave elastography, have been put forward for the assessment of disease activity and characterization of IBD-related damage in the setting of Crohn's disease and other gastrointestinal disorders. The data from the preliminary research and clinical studies have shown promising results as regards the ability of elastographic techniques to differentiate inflammatory from fibrotic tissue. The distinction between IBD activity(inflammation) and IBD-related damage(fibrosis) is currently considered crucial for the assessment and management of patients. Moreover, all the elastographic techniques are currently being considered in the setting of other intestinal disorders(e.g., rectal tumors, appendicitis). The aim of this paper is to offer both a comprehensive narrative review of the non-invasive techniques available for the assessment of small-bowel disorders, with particular emphasis on inflammatory bowel diseases, and a summary of the current evidence on the use of elastographic techniques in this setting.

CGR3： A Golgi-Localized Protein Influencing Homogalacturonan Methylesterification

Plant cell walls are complex structures that offer structural and mechanical support to plant cells and are ultimately responsible for plant architecture and form. Pectins are a large group of complex polysaccharides of the plant cell wall that are made in the Golgi and secreted to the wall. The methylesterification of pectins is believed to be an important factor for the dynamic properties of the cell wall. Here, we report on a protein of unknown function discovered using an extensive proteomics analysis of cotton Golgi. Through bioinformatic analyses, we identified the ortholog of such protein, here named cotton Golgi-related 3 （CGR3） in Arabidopsis and found that it shares conserved residues with S- adenosylmethionine methyltransferases. We established that CGR3 is localized at the Golgi apparatus and that the expression of the CGR3 gene is correlated with that of several cell wall biosynthetic genes, suggesting a possible role of the protein in pectin modifications. Consistent with this hypothesis, immunofluorescence microscopy with antibodies for homogalacturonan pectins （HG） indicated that the celt wails of cgr3 knockout mutants and plants overexpressing CGR3 are decreased and increased in HG methylesterification, respectively. Our results suggest that CGR3 plays a role in the methylesterification of homogalacturonan in Arabidopsis.
