The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) orcoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has exhausted the health systemsin many countries with thousands cases diagnosed daily. The currently usedtreatment guideline is to manage the common symptoms like fever and cough,but doesn’t target the virus itself or halts serious complications arising from thisviral infection. Currently, SARS-CoV-2 exhibits many genetic modulations whichhave been associated with the appearance of highly contagious strains. Thenumber of critical cases of COVID-19 increases markedly, and many of theinfected people die as a result of respiratory failure and multiple organ dysfunction. The regenerative potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has beenextensively studied and confirmed. The impressive immunomodulation and antiinflammatoryactivity of MSCs have been recognized as a golden opportunity forthe treatment of COVID-19 and its associated complications. Moreover, MSCsregenerative and repairing abilities have been corroborated by many studies withpositive outcomes and high recovery rates. Based on that, MSCs infusion could bean effective mechanism in managing and stemming the serious complications andmultiple organ failure associated with COVID-19. In the present review, wediscuss the commonly reported complications of COVID-19 viral infection and theestablished and anticipated role of MSCs in managing these complications.

BACKGROUND Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are a type of stem cells that possess relevant regenerative abilities and can be used to treat many chronic *** mellitus(DM)is a frequently diagnosed chronic disease characterized by hyperglycemia which initiates many multisystem complications in the *** patients can benefit from MSCs transplantation to curb down the pathological consequences associated with hyperglycemia persistence and restore the function of damaged *** therapeutic outcomes are found to last for short period of time and ultimately these regenerative cells are eradicated and died in DM disease *** To investigate the impact of high glucose or hyperglycemia on the cellular and molecular characteristics of *** Human adipose tissue-derived MSCs(hAD-MSCs)were seeded in low(5.6 mmol/L of glucose)and high glucose(25 mmol/L of glucose)for 7 ***,viability,mitochondrial dynamics,and apoptosis were deplored using specific *** blotting was performed to measure the protein expression of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K),TSC1,and mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)in these *** hAD-MSCs cultured in high glucose for 7 d demonstrated marked decrease in their viability,as shown by a significant increase in lactate dehydrogenase(P<0.01)and a significant decrease in Trypan blue(P<0.05)in these cells compared to low glucose *** membrane potential,indicated by tetramethylrhodamine ethyl ester(TMRE)fluorescence intensity,and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)/NADH ratio were significantly dropped(P<0.05 for TMRE and P<0.01 for NAD+/NADH)in high glucose exposed hAD-MSCs,indicating disturbed mitochondrial ***3K protein expression significantly decreased in high glucose culture MSCs(P<0.05 compared to low glucose)and it was coupled with significant upregulation in TSC1(P<0.05)and downregulation in mTOR protein expression(P<0.05).Mitochondrial complexes I,IV,and V were downregul

In this article we discuss the explicit solvability of both Schwarz boundary value problem and Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problem on a half hexagon in the complex plane. Schwarz-type and Pompeiu-type integrals are obtained. The boundary behavior of these operators is discussed. Finally, we investigate the Schwarz problem and the Riemann-Hilbert problem for inhomogeneous Cauchy-Riemann equations.

Comparison of electron transmittances and tunneling currents in an anisotropic TiN_x/HfO_2/SiO_2/p-Si(100) metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) capacitor calculated using exponential- and Airy-wavefunction approaches and a transfer matrix method

Analytical expressions of electron transmittance and tunneling current in an anisotropic TiNx/HfO2/SiO2/p-Si（100） metal-oxide-semiconductor （MOS） capacitor were derived by considering the coupling of transverse and longitudinal energies of an electron. Exponential and Airy wavefunctions were utilized to obtain the electron transmittance and the electron tunneling current. A transfer matrix method, as a numerical approach, was used as a benchmark to assess the analytical approaches. It was found that there is a similarity in the transmittances calculated among exponential- and Airy-wavefimction approaches and the TMM at low electron energies. However, for high energies, only the transmit- tance calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach is the same as that evaluated by the TMM. It was also found that only the tunneling currents calculated by using the Airy-wavefunction approach are the same as those obtained under the TMM for all range of oxide voltages. Therefore, a better analytical description for the tunneling phenomenon in the MOS capacitor is given by the Airy-wavefunction approach. Moreover, the tunneling current density decreases as the titanium concentration of the TiNx metal gate increases because the electron effective mass of TiNx decreases with increasing nitrogen concentration. In addition, the mass anisotropy cannot be neglected because the tunneling currents obtained under the isotropic and anisotropic masses are very different.

Management of difficult intravenous access: a qualitative review

BACKGROUND: A perennial challenge faced by clinicians and made even more relevant with the global obesity epidemic, difficult intravenous access(DIVA) adversely impacts patient outcomes by causing significant downstream delays with many aspects of diagnoses and therapy. As most published DIVA strategies are limited to various point-of-care ultrasound techniques while other “tricks-of-the-trade” and pearls for overcoming DIVA are mostly relegated to informal nonpublished material, this article seeks to provide a narrative qualitative review of the iterature on DIVA and consolidate these strategies into a practical algorithm. METHODS: We conducted a literature search on PubMed using the keywords “difficult intravenous access”, “peripheral vascular access” and “peripheral venous access” and searched emergency medicine and anaesthesiology resources for relevant material. These strategies were then categorized and incorporated into a DIVA algorithm. RESULTS: We propose a Vortex approach to DIVA that is modelled after the Difficult Airway Vortex concept: starting off with standard peripheral intravenous cannulation(PIVC) techniques, progressing sequentially on to ultrasound-guided cannulation and central venous cannulation and finally escalating to the most invasive intraosseous access should the patient be in extremis or should best efforts with the other lifelines fail. CONCLUSION: DIVA is a perennial problem that healthcare providers across various disciplines will be increasingly challenged with. It is crucial to have a systematic stepwise approach such as the DIVA Vortex when managing such patients and have at hand a wide repertoire of techniques to draw upon.

The first principle calculation of elemental-vacancy-assisted modifications on structural properties and optical responses of ZnO system

The structural properties and optical responses of ZnO0.94and Zn0.94O systems as the possible models of ZnO system containing elemental defect states were studied using the plane-wave method within the generalized gradient *** pristine ZnO system was used as the *** simulated XRD patterns showed the three highest intensity for（100）,（002）,and（101） orientations for all the *** to O vacancy,Zn vacancy mostly provided higher structure factor shifts of ZnO ***,the strongest local-symmetry distortion at ZnO4tetrahedra was implied in Zn0.94O *** optical responses showed that all the systems exhibited the optical dichroism based on the extinction coefficient ***,Zn0.94O system showed the lowest energy levels of absorption and high-reflectance ***,the highest saturation threshold energy of the effective number of valence electrons was obtained for this *** result emphasizes the importance of Zn vacancy in providing the significant effect on the optical responses of ZnO system.

Torsional behavior of triangular web profile （TRIWP） steel section by experimental study

A triangular web profile （TriWP） is a modified section where the flanges are connected to a web plate of triangular profile. This study examined the torsional behavior of TriWP steel sections and compared to that of the fiat web （FW） steel sections. Three types of specimen sizes were used： 180 mmx 75 mm × 5 mm× 2 mm, 200 mm × 100 mm× 8 mm ×6 mm, and 200 mm× 100 mm × 6 mm× 5 mm. All the specimens were loaded vertically until the maximum load was achieved and then the load was released. For both types of specimens, it was observed that the torsional rotation for bigger size [200 mm× 100 mm× 8 mm × 6 mm] were smaller than that of smaller size [ 180 mm × 75 mm×5 mm× 2 mm] of the specimens. At the maximum torsional loading, the experimental result was compared to the theoretical calculation. The comparison showed that the percentage difference ranged from 1.10% to 16.80%. From the graph of torsional load versus rotational angle, the torsional rotation for all TriWP steel sections were smaller than that of the FW steel section under the same torsional loading i.e., 0.2 kNm and 1 kNm. The range between FW and TriWP were 3.74 to 71.83 at 0.2 kNm while 14.5 to 75.1 at 1.0 kNm. The findings were shown that the TriWP steel sections had better resistance against torsion in comparison to FW steel section.

An Efficient Schema Transformation Technique for Data Migration from Relational to Column-Oriented Databases

Data transformation is the core process in migrating database from relational database to NoSQL database such as column-oriented database. However,there is no standard guideline for data transformation from relational database toNoSQL database. A number of schema transformation techniques have been proposed to improve data transformation process and resulted better query processingtime when compared to the relational database query processing time. However,these approaches produced redundant tables in the resulted schema that in turnconsume large unnecessary storage size and produce high query processing timedue to the generated schema with redundant column families in the transformedcolumn-oriented database. In this paper, an efficient data transformation techniquefrom relational database to column-oriented database is proposed. The proposedschema transformation technique is based on the combination of denormalizationapproach, data access pattern and multiple-nested schema. In order to validate theproposed work, the proposed technique is implemented by transforming data fromMySQL database to MongoDB database. A benchmark transformation techniqueis also performed in which the query processing time and the storage size arecompared. Based on the experimental results, the proposed transformation technique showed significant improvement in terms query processing time and storagespace usage due to the reduced number of column families in the column-orienteddatabase.

IWD-Miner: A Novel Metaheuristic Algorithm for Medical Data Classification

Medical data classification(MDC)refers to the application of classification methods on medical *** work focuses on applying a classification task to medical datasets related to specific diseases in order to predict the associated diagnosis or *** gain experts’trust,the prediction and the reasoning behind it are equally ***,we confine our research to learn rule-based models because they are transparent and *** approach to MDC involves the use of metaheuristic(MH)*** we report on the development and testing of a novel MH algorithm:*** algorithm can be viewed as a fusion of Intelligent Water Drops(IWDs)and AntMiner+.It was subjected to a four-stage sensitivity analysis to optimize its *** this purpose,21 publicly available medical datasets were used from the Machine Learning Repository at the University of California ***,there were only limited differences in performance between IWDMiner variants which is suggestive of its ***,using the same 21 datasets,we compared the performance of the optimized IWD-Miner against two extant algorithms,AntMiner+and *** experiments showed that both rival algorithms are considered comparable in the effectiveness to IWD-Miner,as confirmed by the Wilcoxon nonparametric statistical *** suggest that IWD-Miner is more efficient than AntMiner+as measured by the average number of fitness evaluations to a solution(1,386,621.30 vs.2,827,283.88 fitness evaluations,respectively).J48 exhibited higher accuracy on average than IWD-Miner(79.58 vs.73.65,respectively)but produced larger models(32.82 leaves vs.8.38 terms,respectively).
