Appropriate interaction between pantograph and catenary is imperative for smooth operation of electric *** heights of overhead lines to accommodate level crossings,overbridges,and tunnels pose significant challenges in maintaining consistent current collection performance as the pantograph aerodynamic profile,and thus aerodynamic load changes significantly with operational *** research aims to analyse the global flow characteristics and aerodynamic forces acting on individual components of an HSX pantograph operating in different configurations and orientations,such that the results can be combined with multibody simulations to obtain accurate dynamic insight into contact ***,computational fluid dynamics simulations are used to investigate the pantograph component loads in a representative setting,such as that of the recessed cavity on a Class 800 *** an aerodynamic perspective,this study indicates that the total drag force acting on non-fixed components of the pantograph is larger for the knuckle-leading orientation rather than the knuckle-trailing,although the difference between the two is found to reduce with increasing pantograph *** the aerodynamic loads acting on individual components with multibody tools allows for realistic dynamic insight into the pantograph *** results obtained show how considering aerodynamic forces enhance the realism of the models,leading to behaviour of the pantograph-catenary contact forces closely matching that seen in experimental tests.

Context: Advanced heart failure (AHf) poses a global challenge, where heart transplantation is a treatment option but limited by donor scarcity. Proposal: This study aims to enhance the performance of ventricular assist devices (VADs) in the face of adverse events (AEs) using a resilience-based approach. The objective is to develop a method for integrating resilience attributes into VAD control systems, employing dynamic risk analysis and control strategies. Results: The outcomes include a resilient control architecture enabling anticipatory, regenerative, and degenerative actions in response to AEs. A method of applied resilience (MAR) based on dynamic risk management and resilience attribute analysis was proposed. Conclusion: Dynamic integration between medical and technical teams allows continuous adaptation of control systems to meet patient needs over time, improving reliability, safety, and effectiveness of VADs, with potential positive impact on the health of heart failure patients.

BACKGROUND Paracoccidioidomycosis(PCM)may involve the hepatic pedicle and peripan creatic lymph nodes,cause damage to the bile duct and manifest,exceptionally,in combination with extrahepatic cholestasis(EHC),making investigation and treatment *** To investigate the management of patients with visceral PCM admitted with *** All patients diagnosed with PCM treated in a public,tertiary teaching hospital between 1982 and 2020 were retrospectively *** also identified with EHC were allocated to two groups according to the treatment approach for the purpose of comparing clinical,laboratory,and imaging findings,resources used for etiological diagnosis,treatment results,and *** analyses were performed using the linear mixed-effects model(random and fixed effects),which was adjusted using the PROC MIXED procedure of the SAS®9.0 software,and fisher’s exact *** Of 1645 patients diagnosed with PCM,40(2.4%)had *** these,20(50.0%)lived in the rural area and 29(72.5%)were men,with a mean age of 27.1 years(3-65 years).Jaundice as first symptom and weight loss of at least 10 kg were observed in 16 patients(40.0%),and a mass in the head of the pancreas was observed in 8(20.0%).The etiological diagnosis was made by tissue collection during surgery in 4 cases(10.0%)and by endoscopic methods in 3 cases(7.5%).Twenty-seven patients(67.5%)received drug treatment alone(Group 1),whereas 13(32.5%)underwent endoscopic and/or surgical procedures in combination with drug treatment(Group 2).EHC was significantly reduced in both groups(40.7% in Group 1,with a mean time of 3 months;and 38.4% in Group 2,with a mean time of 7.5 months),with no statistically significant difference between *** recurrence rates,associated mainly with treatment nonadherence,were similar in both groups:37% in Group 1 and 15.4% in Group *** mortality rate was 18.5% in Group 1 and 23% in Group 2,with survival estimates of 71.3% and 72.5%,respectively,with

Background Anthonomus grandis grandis is the main cotton pest in the Americas,with the potential to become a pest in other *** insect uses the plant's reproductive organs for feeding,oviposition,and survival strategies in the off-season,sheltering in dry *** study aimed to know the reproductive potential,feeding,longevity,and morphometric characteristics of boll weevils from dry bolls,squares,and *** were obtained from infested squares,dry bolls,and traps installed in cotton fields and the Caatinga *** weevil pairs were maintained in the laboratory to assess the oviposition,feeding holes,longevity,and morphometric measurements of the parental and f_(1) *** In the parental generation,boll weevils from traps(the Caatinga area and cotton cultivation)showed greater reproductive *** weevils from squares and the Caatinga area showed greater feeding activity compared with those from cotton *** rostrum length,thorax+abdomen length,and abdomen width were observed in boll weevils from cotton cultivation and dry *** origin of boll weevils parental generation did not affect progeny emergence *** f_(1) generation of boll weevils showed significant differences in average longevity depending on the origin of different ***,differences in rostrum lengths were observed,with the boll weevils coming from traps installed in cotton cultivation,the Caatinga area,and dry bolls being the *** thorax+abdomen length and abdomen width,the highest values were observed in those from the Caatinga area and cotton *** It was proven that dry bolls did not affect the reproductive,feeding,and longevity performance of boll weevils,enabling better insect fitness(reproduction and size)in relation to those coming from *** use of dry bolls as off-season shelter is an important survival strategy for the boll weevil.

Natural Gas Power Plants in the System Security Role—The Situation and Solutions in Brazil

This study aims to apply a methodology to analyze the regulatory obstacles for the development of thermal power plants in a country. The study uses Brazil as an application case, although mostly of the findings can be useful to other countries. It also discusses other policies and actions by the government that may contribute to the growth of natural gas-fired power plants. Using deductive and comparative research methods, the first part of this method focuses on the stage of thermoelectric power generation in Brazil. The subsequent sections present the role of the integration of gas and electricity sectors, the main obstacles to the expansion of natural-gas power generation, how the country has deal with the expansion of natural-gas power generation, as well as how other obstacles has been faced. In raising the research question, when comparing the research results of selected countries, it should be noticed the impact that the experience and lessons elsewhere have had on policies formulation on Brazil. Our conclusions pointed out that adequate policies for the natural gas-electricity Brazilian market integration make advisable the unification of electricity and natural gas agencies. We recommended developing a mathematical model to support decision-making on natural gas and electricity integration.

Polygenic Profile and Magnitude Impact of Inflammatory Response in Soccer Athletes

The practice of soccer involves carrying-out actions of high intensity, which demand a great generation of eccentric strength, which in turn results in an increase in the inflammatory response after training practice and game matches. The study aimed to investigate, in combination and individually, the association of 28 polymorphisms with the inflammatory responses of soccer athletes. The sample consisted of 47 male under-20 soccer athletes who belong to clubs in the first division of Brazilian soccer. Blood samples were collected at Pre, and 03, 24, and 48 hours after the training session to evaluate the inflammatory responses (hematological analyzes (hemogram), creatine phosphokinase (CK), high sensitivity quantitative C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha, (TNfα), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGf-1)). DNA was obtained through scraping of buccal cells, where a sterile swab was rubbed on the inner side of the mouth of each participant 06 times. The database was built using the TruSeq DNA PCRfree kit (Illumina®) and the Covaris equipment for shearing genomic DNA (gDNA) by ultrasound. Of the analyzed SNPs, 09 (ACTN3 rs1815739, COL5A1 rs12722, COL5A1 rs3196378, HGf rs5745697, IGf1 rs35767, IL-6 rs1800795, MMP3 rs679620, SLC30A8 rs13266634, SOX15 rs4227) were individually associated with biomarkers and 07 SNPs, (COL5A1 rs12722, COL5A1 rs3196378, COL5A1 rs1800012, HGf rs5745697, IGf1 rs35767, IL-6 rs1800795 and MMP3 rs679620) analyzed in combination, explained 16% to 40% of the variation of inflammatory responses in soccer athletes. The results suggest that the genotypic profile can be taken into account for a more individualized distribution of the training load, along with the elaboration of recovery strategies for high-level athletes between training sessions and games of high physical and physiological demand.

Rotating effects on the photoionization cross-section of a 2D quantum ring

In this article, we investigate the nonrelativistic quantum motion of a charged particle within a rotating frame, taking into account the Aharonov–Bohm(AB) effect and a uniform magnetic field. Our analysis entails the derivation of the equation of motion and the corresponding radial equation to describe the system. Solving the resulting radial equation enables us to determine the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, providing a clear expression for the energy levels. furthermore,our numerical analysis highlights the substantial influence of rotation on both energy levels and optical properties. Specifically, we evaluate the photoionization cross-section with and without the effects of rotation. To elucidate the impact of rotation on the photoionization process of the system, we present graphics that offer an appealing visualization of the intrinsic nature of the physics involved.

With the increase in antimicrobial resistance,it has become necessary to explore alternative approaches for combating and preventing ***-cinnamaldehyde(CNM)and Benzyl4-amino(B4AM)are bioactive compounds derived from chalcones but with restricted solubility in aqueous *** can enhance the solubility of compounds and can be a promising alternative in the development of novel antimicrobials,with reduced side effects and prolonged *** objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of oil-in-water nanoemulsions loaded with two distinct types of chalcones at two different dosages,to propose a stable formulation with antimicrobial *** showed that nanoemulsions presented high encapsulation efficiency,low polydispersity index(PDI)and particle size below 200 nm,indicating that emulsification was a suitable method for nanoemulsion *** with higher dosages exhibited significant antimicrobial effects when compared to free chalcones and positive ***,B4AM nanoemulsions at higher dosages showed expressive activity against Salmonella minnesota,with a 420%greater inhibitory response compared to the free form and showing equivalence to the positive *** nanoemulsions showed excellent inhibitory activity at the highest dosage,equivalent to the positive control against *** and Staphylococcus *** greater number of conjugated bonds in CNM increased the antimicrobial activity in comparison with B4AM,and the formation of nanometric domains enhanced the bioavailability,being a promising alternative for antimicrobial applications.
