Broadband vectorial ultrathin optics with experimental efficiency up to 99%in the visible region via universal approximators

Integrating conventional optics into compact nanostructured surfaces is the goal of flat *** the enormous progress in this technology,there are still critical challenges for real-world applications due to the limited operational efficiency in the visible region,on average lower than 60%,which originates from absorption losses in wavelengththick(~500 nm)*** issue is the realization of on-demand optical components for controlling vectorial light at visible frequencies simultaneously in both reflection and transmission and with a predetermined wavefront *** this work,we developed an inverse design approach that allows the realization of highly efficient(up to 99%)ultrathin(down to 50 nm thick)optics for vectorial light control with broadband input-output responses in the visible and near-IR regions with a desired wavefront *** approach leverages suitably engineered semiconductor nanostructures,which behave as a neural network that can approximate a user-defined input-output *** performance results from the ultrathin nature of these surfaces,which reduces absorption losses to nearnegligible ***,we discuss polarizing beam splitters,comparing their performance with the best results obtained from both direct and inverse design techniques,and new flat-optics components represented by dichroic mirrors and the basic unit of a flat-optics display that creates full colours by using only two subpixels,overcoming the limitations of conventional LCD/OLED technologies that require three subpixels for each composite *** devices can be manufactured with a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS)-compatible process,making them scalable for mass production at low cost.

This paper talks about the effect of heat treatmant (HT) on the cast and direction solidified (DS) Ti-46Al-6Nb and Ti-46Al-6.3Nb-0.1B compositions. These materials were prodused by cold crucible electromagnetic process. Samples were heat treated with six different conditions with the Muffle Atmosphere furnace XY-1600A. HT1: temperature at1270℃for2h+air cooling. HT2:temperature at1330℃for2h+air cooling. HT3:temperature at1330℃for2h+900℃for30min+air cooling. HT4: temperature at1330℃for2h+air cooling, and then was repeat heating at1330℃for10min. HT5:temperature at1330℃for10min+air cooling, and then was repeated the same HT process. HT6:temperature at1330℃for10min+air cooling, and then was repeated the same HT process four times. After HT process all samples were polished, etched and prepared for further analysis. firstly samples were taken pictures by a digital camera. Analysis of microstructure was performed by the optical microscope (OM) and the scanning electron microscope (SEM). After microstructure analysis all samples were cut into several small cylinders for compressive stress (CS) tests. CS test were tested by Inston5960Dual Column Tabletop Universal Testing Systems. Analysis of fracture mechanism before and after heat treatment was done by SEM.HT1decreased of average grain size of cast alloy from1.4mm to0.3mm, but didn't change the grain morphology of DS samples. Also HTlincreased of the lamellar spacing from2.46μm to4.38μm. The compressive stress decreased after HT1. HT2-HT4had insignificant influence on changing average grain size macrostructure of cast materials, but cardinally changed morphology and microstructure of DS materials. HT2-HT4and HT6caused elimination of all segregations. HT2-HT6decreased the lamellar spacing. The best result of compressive stress property had showed HT5. Also HT5caused the smallest lamellar spacing. HT1and HT2changed fracture mechanisms a little, but HT5and HT6significant changed fracture mechanism from inter or trans-lame

＜正＞ The strength of the structural components and pipelines NPP determines largely their lifetime, radiation and nuclear safety. As shows world experience of operation NPP, in a series of cases during operation the local damages, breaks and destructions of elements of the equipment and pipelines emerge. These cases force maintaining organizations to execute on NPP large volumes of the control, repair and modernizing of the equipment and pipelines. These activities require large material inputs （net less than 50% of the cost of operation NPP）, however not always are effective and in a series of cases do not allow to reach required of level reliability and safety.

Merging bound states in the continuum in an open acoustic resonator

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error because its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

Expression of auxin synthesis gene tms1 under control of tuber-specific promoter enhances potato tuberization in vitro

Phytohormones, auxins in particular, play an important role in plant development and productivity. Earlier data showed positive impact of exogenous auxin on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tuberization. The aim of this study was to generate potato plants with increased auxin level predominantly in tubers. To this end, a pBinB33-tms1 vector was constructed harboring the Agrobacterium auxin biosynthesis gene tms1 fused to tuber-specific promoter of the class I patatin gene (B33-promoter) of potato. Among numerous independently generated B33:tms1 lines, those without visible differences from control were selected for detailed studies. In the majority of transgenic lines, tms1 gene transcription was detected, mostly in tubers rather than in shoots. Indoleacetic acid (IAA) content in tubers and the auxin tuber-to-shoot ratio were increased in tms1-expressing transformants. The organ-specific increase in auxin synthesis in B33:tms1-transformants accelerated and intensified the process of tuber formation, reduced the dose of carbohydrate supply required for in vitro tuberization, and decreased the photoperiodic dependence of tuber initiation. Overall, a positive correlation was observed between tms1 expression, IAA content in tubers, and stimulation of tuber formation. The revealed properties of B33:tms1 transformants imply an important role for auxin in potato tuberization and offer prospects to magnify potato productivity by a moderate organ-specific enhancement of auxin content.

New Extracellular Bacillus subtilis Lectins with Sialic Acid-Specificity

The purpose of this work is to perform a detailed study of carbohydrate specificity of the new extracellular bacilli lectins which is considered to determine mechanisms of the lectins action. Sources of lectins were bacterial strains from Ukrainian collection of microorganisms. The optimized protocol of bacilli lectins isolation and purification included precipitation with ammonium sulfate with subsequent gel filtration chromatography on Sepharose CL-6B. Hemagglutinating activity of bacilli lectins and their fine carbohydrate specificity to sialic acids and their derivatives as well as sialic asid-containing and asialic glycoconjugates were studied. The ability of extracellular bacilli lectins to discriminate a- and 13-conformation of carbohydrate molecule and the type of connection between the monomers was determined. Studied lectins showed the most affinity to glycoconjugates containing both types of sialic acids （N-acetylneuraminic acid （Neu5Ac） and N-glycolylneuraminic acid （NeuGc）） and it is supposed to be a basis of their diagnostic and analytical potential.

Effect of cyclic heat treatment on microstructures and mechanical properties of directionally solidified Ti-46Al-6Nb alloy

The Ti-46A1-6Nb （mole fraction, %） ingots that were directionally solidified by cold crucible were cyclic heat treated at 1330 ℃ in the a phase region. The microstructures and mechanical properties of the ingots before and after heat treatment were investigated. The results show that the large columnar grains are changed into equiaxed grains after heat treatment. The grain size decreases with increasing the cyclic times, which is caused by the recrystallization and the transition from the large grain of small lamellae to the small grain of large lamellae. four times of cyclic heat treatment refines the grain size from 1.33 mm to 0.59 turn, nevertheless the lamellar spacing increases from 0.71 ~tm to 1.38 lim. Extending the holding time and increasing the cyclic times of heat treatment eliminate the fl-segregation at the grain boundary and the interlamellar. The compression testing shows that the compressive strength of the directionally solidified ingot in the parallel and perpendicular directions are 1385.09 MPa and 1267.79 MPa, respectively, which are improved to 1449.75 MPa and 1527.76 MPa after two and four times of cyclic heat treatment, respectively, while that is 1180.64 MPa for the as-cast sample. The fracture mode of the sample after cyclic heat treatment is quasi-cleavage fracture.

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

Acoustic radiation force and torque on a lossless eccentric layered fluid cylinder

Exact analytical equations and computations for the longitudinal and transverse acoustic radiation force and axial torque components for a lossless eccentric liquid cylinder submerged in a nonviscous fluid and insonified by plane waves progressive waves(of arbitrary incidence in the polar plane)are established and computed *** modal matching method and the translational addition theorem in cylindrical coordinates are used to derive exact mathematical expressions applicable to any inner and outer cylinder sizes without any approximations,and taking into account the interaction effects between the waves propagating in the layer and those scattered from the cylindrical *** results show that longitudinal and transverse radiation force components arise,in addition to the emergence of an axial radiation torque component acting on the non-absorptive compound cylinder due to geometrical asymmetry as the eccentricity *** computations demonstrate that the axial torque component,which arises due to a geometrical asymmetry,can be positive(causing counterclockwise rotation in the polar plane),negative(clockwise rotation)or neutral(rotation cancellation)depending on the size parameter of the cylinder and the amount of ***,verification and validation of the results have been accomplished from the standpoint of energy conservation law applied to scattering,and based on the reciprocity theorem.
