We present a method to fabricate handcrafted thermoelectric devices on standard office paper *** devices are based on thin films of WS_(2),Te,and BP(P-type semiconductors)and TiS_(3)and TiS_(2)(N-type semiconductors),deposited by simply rubbing powder of these materials against *** thermoelectric properties of these semiconducting films revealed maximum Seebeck coefficients of(+1.32±0.27)mV K^(-1)and(-0.82±0.15)mV K^(-1)for WS_(2)and TiS_(3),***,Peltier elements were fabricated by interconnecting the P-and N-type films with graphite electrodes.A thermopower value up to 6.11 mV K^(-1)was obtained when the Peltier element were constructed with three *** findings of this work show proof-of-concept devices to illustrate the potential application of semiconducting van der Waals materials in future thermoelectric power generation as well as temperature sensing for low-cost disposable electronic devices.

Abnormal function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal （HPA） axis is an important pathological finding in pregnant women exhibiting major depressive disorder. They show high levels of cortisol pro- inflammatory cytokines, hypothalamic-pituitary peptide hormones and catecholamines, along with low dehydroepiandrosterone levels in plasma. During pregnancy, the TH2 balance together with the immune system and placental factors play crucial roles in the development of the fetal allograft to full term. These factors, when altered, may generate a persistent dysfunction of the HPA axis that may lead to an overt transfer of cortisol and toxicity to the fetus at the expense of reduced activity of placental 1113-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2. Epigenetic modifications also may contribute to the dysregulation of the HPA axis. Affective disorders in pregnant women should be taken seriously, and therapies focused on preventing the deleterious effects of stressors should be implemented to promote the welfare of both mother and baby.

Most of the studies devoted to thiolated gold clusters suppose that their core and Au-S framework do not suffer from distortion independently of the protecting ligands(-SR) and it is assumed as correct to simplify the ligand as SCH. In this work is delivered a systematic study of the structure and vibrational properties(IR and Raman)of the Au(SR)cluster. The pursued goal is to understand the dependency of the displayed vibrational properties of the thiolated Aucluster with the ligands type. A set of six ligands was considered during calculations of the vibrational properties based on density functional theory(DfT) and in its dispersioncorrected approach(DfT-D).

Shot peening is a widely used technique to improve fatigue life in metallic *** processing technique introduces a subsurface compressive residual stress field through a plastic deformation of the surface caused by the impact of a large number of high-speed *** are a number of parameters that affect the residual stress field depth and *** effects of the impact angle,shot speed and shot geometry are currently being *** particular,substituting spherical cast shots by cylindrical cut wire shots is an attractive option,especially in terms of *** effect of shot geometry on residual stresses,however,needs to be further *** industrial-scale experimentation is costly and cumbersome,mathematical modeling offers a convenient alternative to carry out this type of *** present work shows a comparison between the residual stresses generated by the impact of spherical and cylindrical projectiles on a steel *** threedimensional model was developed using ABAQUS finite element commercial software(Release 6.12,Dassault Systémes,france).The results show that cylindrical shots generate residual stress fields t hat a re higher in magnitude than t hose generated by a spherical ***,the residual stress field of cylindrical shots impacting the surface at an oblique angle shows an important degree of *** effect is not found when spherical shots impact the surface at the same oblique angle.

Major depression during pregnancy is a common psychiatric disorder that arises from a complex and mul- tifactorial etiology. Psychosocial stress, sex, hormones, and genetic vulnerability increase the risk for triggering mood disorders. Microglia and toll-like receptor 4 play a crucial role in triggering wide and varied stress-induced responses mediated through activation of the inflammasome; this leads to the secretion of inflammatory cytokines, increased serotonin metabolism, and reduction of neurotransmitter availability along with hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis hyperactivity. Dysregulation of this intricate neu- roimmune communication network during pregnancy modifies the maternal milieu, enhancing the emergence of depressive symptoms and negative obstetric and neu- ropsychiatric outcomes. Although several studies have clearly demonstrated the role of the innate immune system in major depression, it is still unclear how the placenta, the brain, and the monoaminergic and neuroendocrine systems interact during perinatal depression. Thus, in the present review we describe the cellular and molecular interactions between these systems in major depression during preg- nancy, proposing that the same stress-related mechanisms involved in the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in microglia and peripheral myeloid cells in depressed patients operate in a similar fashion in the neuroimmune placenta during perinatal depression. Thus, activation of Toll-like receptor 2 and 4 signaling and the NLRP3 inflammasome in placental immune cells may promote a shift of the Thl/Th2 bias towards a predominant Thl/Thl7 inflammatory response, associated with increased secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, among other secreted autocrine and paracrine mediators, which play a crucial role in triggering and/or exacerbating depressive symptoms during pregnancy.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of a protein synthesis inhibitor cycloheximide on arresting activity in spermato-genesis and sperm count in male rats. Methods: The study used seminiferous tubule (ST) segments from adult rats cultured in vitro with or without cycloheximide to condition culture media, which have been concentrated, size fractioned (30-50 kDa) and administered 7 days to adult rats by intraperitoneal injections. The effects on testicular and epididymal weights, spermatogenesis and epididymal sperm count were determined. Results: The fraction (30-50 kDa), named arresting, obtained from the culture without cycloheximide decreased testicular and epididymal weights (Pficantly. Study of the spermatogenic cycle by transillumination showed spermatogenic arrest at stage VII in rats treated with arresting compared to that observed in controls. The length of stage VII in the group receiving the seminiferous tubules culture media with cycloheximide (30-50 KDa CHX-STCM fraction) was similar to control. Conclusion: The difference in the effect may be the result of the presence or absence of arresting, a protein secreted by the tubules.

The KCI：Eu2＋ system response to UV-C was investigated by analyzing the optically stimulated luminescence （OSL） and ther- mo-luminescence （TL） signal produced by ultraviolet light exposure at room temperature. It was found that after UV-C ***, OSL was produced on a wide band of visible wavelengths with decay time that varied by several orders of magnitude depending on the Eu2＋ aggregation state. In spite of the low intensity of solar UV-C reaching the Earth＇s surface in Madrid （40° N, 700 m a.s.1.）, it was possible to measure the UV-C radiation dose at 6：48 solar time by using the TL response of the KCI：Eu2＋ system and differentiate it from the ambient beta radiation dose.

We report electronic properties of a hydrogen atom encaged by an endohedral cavity under the influence of a weak plasma interaction. Weimplement a finite-difference approach to solve the Schrodinger equation for a hydrogen atom embedded in an endohedral cavity modeled by theWoods-Saxon potential with well depth V0, inner radius R0, thickness D, and smooth parameter g. The plasma interaction is described by aDebye-Hu¨ckel screening potential that characterizes the plasma in terms of a Debye screening length lD. The electronic properties of theendohedral hydrogen atom are reported for selected endohedral cavity well depths, V0, and screening lengths, lD, that emulate differentconfinement and plasma conditions. We find that for low screening lengths, the endohedral cavity potential dominates over the plasma interaction by confining the electron within the cavity. for large screening lengths, a competition between both interactions is observed. We assessand report the photo-ionization cross section, dipole polarizability, mean excitation energy, and electronic stopping cross section as function of lD and V0. We find a decrease of the Generalized Oscillator Strength (GOS) when the final excitation is to an s state as the plasma screeninglength decreases. for a final excitation into a p state, we find an increase in the GOS as the endohedral cavity well-depth increases. for the caseof the electronic stopping cross section, we find that the plasma screening and endohedral cavity effects are larger in the low-to-intermediateprojectile energies for all potential well depths considered. Our results agree well to available theoretical and experimental data and are afirst step towards the understanding of dipole and generalized oscillator strength dependent properties of an atom in extreme conditions encagedby an endohedral cavity immersed in a plasma medium.
