The treatment of wastewaters is crucial to maintain the ecological status of receiving waters,and thereby guarantee the protection of aquatic life and human *** quality evaluation is conventionally based on physicochemical parameters,but increasing attention has been paid to integrate physicochemical and biological ***,the regulatory use of fish in biological testing methods has been subject to various ethical and cost concerns,and in vitro cell-based assays have thus become an important topic of ***,the present study intends:(a) to evaluate the efficiency of two different sample pre-concentration techniques (lyophilisation and solid phase extraction) to assess the toxicity of municipal effluents on rat cardiomyoblast H9c2(2-1) cells,and (b) maximizing the use of the effluent sample collected,to estimate the environmental condition of the receiving *** gathered results demonstrate that the H9c2(2-1) sulforhodamine B-based assay is an appropriate in vitro method to assess biological effluent toxicity,and the best results were attained by lyophilising the sample as *** to its response,the H9c2(2-1) cell line might be a possible alternative in vitro model for fish lethal testing to assess the toxicity of municipal *** physicochemical status of the sample suggests a high potential for eutrophication,and iron exceeded the permissible level for wastewater discharge,possibly due to the addition of ferric chloride for wastewater *** general,the levels of carbamazepine and sulfamethoxazole are higher than those reported for other countries,and both surpassed the aquatic protective values for long-term exposure.

A comparative analytical study of several control strategies for semi-active(SA) devices installed in baseisolated buildings aiming to reduce earthquake induced vibrations is *** force tracking schemes comprising a linear controller plus a 'clipped' algorithm and a nonlinear output feedback controller(NOfC) are considered to tackle this *** controllers include the integral controller(I),the linear quadratic regulator(LQR) and the model predictive controller(MPC).A single degree-of-freedom system subjected to input accelerograms representative of the Portuguese seismic actions are first used to validate and evaluate the feasibility of these *** obtained results show that structural systems using SA devices can in general outperform those equipped with passive devices for lower fundamental frequency structural systems,namely base-isolated *** effectiveness of the proposed strategies is also evaluated on a 10 storey base-isolated dual frame-wall *** force tracking scheme with an integral controller outperforms the other three as well as the original structure and the structure equipped with passive devices.

Sufficient fault ride-through(fRT)of large wind power plants(WPPs)is essential for the operation security of transmission *** majority of studies on fRT do not include all disturbances originating in the transmission system or the disturbances irrelevant to the operation *** on the knowledge of power quality,this paper provides a guide to stakeholders in different aspects of fRT for wind turbines(WTs)and *** paper details the characteristics of the most common disturbances originated in the transmission system,how they propagate to the WT terminals,and how they impact the dynamic behavior of a large *** paper shows that the details of the voltage disturbances,not only in the transmission system,but also at the WT terminals,should be taken into ***,a detailed representation or characterization of voltage dips is important for fRT studies,despite that the simplified models used in the literature are *** paper strongly recommends that distinct events and additional characteristics such as the phase-angle jump and oscillations in the transition segments should be considered in fRT analysis.

The energy functional associated with different models is analyzed and stability inequalities are established.
