A dynamic infiltration technique to synthesize nanolayered cathodes for high performance and robust solid oxide fuel cells

Solution infiltration is a popular technique for the surface modification of solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)***,the synthesis of nanostructured SOFC cathodes by infiltration is a tedious process that often requires several infiltration and high temperature(≥500℃)calcination ***,fabricating large-area nanostructured cathodes via infiltration still requires serious ***,we propose a facile and scalable urea assisted ultrasonic spray infiltration technique for nanofabrication of SOFC *** is demonstrated that by using urea as a precipitating agent,the calcination after each infiltration cycle can be omitted and the next infiltration can be performed just after a drying step(≤100℃).Finally,the precipitates can be converted into a desired catalyst phase in single calcination thus,a nanostructured cathode can be fabricated in a much faster *** is also shown that the low calcination temperature of the cathode(≤900℃)can produce highly durable SOFC performance even without employing a Ce_(0.9)Gd_(0.1)O_(2)(GDC)diffusion barrier layer which provides the ease of SOFC *** coupling with an ultrasonic spray technique,the urea assisted infiltration can be scaled up for any desired cathode ***_(0.6)Sr_(0.4)Co_(0.2)Fe_(0.8)O_(3) nanolayered cathode was fabricated and it was characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)*** showed the formation of a nanolayer cathode just after 5 cycles of the urea assisted infiltration while the XRD and TEM confirmed the phase and stoichiometric uniformity of the 100 nm cathode *** effectiveness of the newly developed technique was further verified by the stable operation of a GDC buffer layer free SOFC having an active cathode area of 25 cm^(2) during a 1200 h durability *** research outcomes propose urea assisted ultrasonic spray infiltration as a facile,scalable,and commercially viable method

Analysis of genetic diversity and differentiation of artificial populations of yellowhorn(Xanthoceras sorbifolium) in China using ISSR markers

Yellowhorn （Xanthoceras sorbifolium Bunge） is a drought-tolerant tree in the family Sapindaceae that is native to northeastern China. Its remarkably oil-rich seeds are a reliable biodiesel source. An inter simple sequence repeat （ISSR） analysis showed genetic variation among four artificial populations in China： two in Inner Mongolia （IM）, one in Liaoning （LN）, and one in Shandong （SD）. The average percentage of polymorphic loci was 81.25 % for these four populations. The Forest Farm in SD showed the highest number of effective alleles （Ne）, Shannon index （I）, and expected heterozygosity （He）, i.e., 1.598, 0.470, and 0.325, respectively, but the lowest number of alleles （Na） as 1.600. Based on an analysis of molecular variance, 23 % of the total genetic variation was found among populations, and 77 % within populations. A principal coordinate analysis revealed two groups （Group 1： Lindonglinchang, Jianping Agriculture Research Station and Forest Farm; Group 2： Jinjilinchang）. Understanding the genetic diversity among artificial yellowhorn populations in China, detected using ISSRs, will be useful for yellowhorn conservation and improvement. Additional arti-ficial and natural populations need to be included in the future for a country-wide perspective.

Rumex acetosella Inhibits Platelet Function via Impaired MAPK and Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase Signaling

Objective:To examine the antiplatelet and antithrombotic activity of Rumex acetosella ***:Standard light aggregometry was used for platelet aggregation,intracellular calcium mobilization assessed using Fura-2/AM,granule secretion(ATP release)by luminometer,and fibrinogen binding to integrin α_(Ⅱb)β_(3) detected using flow *** blotting is carried out to determine the phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt ***:Rumex acetosella displayed the ability to inhibit platelet aggregation,calcium mobilization,granule secretion,and fibrinogen binding to integrin α_(Ⅱb)β_(3).Rumex acetosella has also down-regulated MAPK and PI3K/Akt phosphorylation(all P<0.01).Conclusion:Rumex acetosella extract exhibits antiplatelet activity via modulating GPVI signaling,and it may protect against the development of platelet-related cardiovascular diseases.

A critical regulation of Th2 cell responses by RORa in allergic asthma

Allergic asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lung and the airway,which is characterized by aberrant type 2 immune responses to otherwise unharmful *** the central role of Th2 cells and type 2 cytokines in the pathogenesis of allergic asthma is well documented,the regulation and plasticity of Th2 cells remain incompletely *** using an animal model of allergic asthma in IL-4-reporter mice,we found that Th2 cells in the lung expressed higher levels of Rora than those in the lymph nodes,and that treatment with an RORa agonist SRI 078 resulted in diminished Th2 cell responses in *** determine the T cell-intrinsic role of RORa in allergic asthma in vivo,we established T cell-specific RORa-deficient^(f/f)fyf(Cd4creRora^(f/f))*** intranasal allergen challenges,Cd4creRora^(f/f)mice exhibited a significantly increased Th2 cells in the lungs and the airway and showed an enhanced eosinophilic inflammation compared to littermate control *** with Foxp3^(YFP-cre)Rora^(f/f)mice and CD^(8+)T cell depletion showed that the increased Th2 cell responses in the Cd4creRora^(f/f)mice were independent of Treg cells and CD^(8+)T *** findings demonstrate a critical regulatory role of RORa in Th2 cells,which suggest that RORa agonists could be effective for the treatment of allergic diseases.

A two-dimensional(2D)/2D hybrid heterojunction with face-to-face interfacial assembly is a desirable dimensionality design with significant potential for various photocatalytic applications due to the large interfacial contact area,which facilitates charge migration and ***,we developed an ef-ficient 2D/2D hybrid heterojunction consisting of BiOIO 3 nanoplates(BIO)and g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheets(CN)using a simple but effective in situ growth method for photocatalytic aqueous antibiotic degradation and H_(2) *** face-to-face interfacial assembly of the BIO and CN components in the BIO/CN hy-brid heterojunction was verified using electron ***,the BIO/CN hybrid heterojunc-tion outperformed both the BIO and CN counterparts in terms of norfloxacin degradation and H_(2) gen-eration under simulated solar light ***,the photocatalytic performance of the hybrid catalyst remained nearly unchanged throughout five consecutive test *** exceptional performance and stability of the hybrid catalyst are attributable to its extended optical absorption range,large interfa-cial contact area provided by the face-to-face assembly in the 2D/2D hybrid configuration,and enhanced photoexcited charge separation efficiency and redox power of the separated charges,which are supported by an efficient S-scheme charge transfer *** study illuminates the rational construction of novel 2D/2D S-scheme hybrid heterojunction photocatalysts with practical applications in environmental remediation and sustainable energy generation.

Ascaris-mimicking common bile duct stone: A case report

BACKGROUND In most cases,it is not difficult to differentiate common bile duct(CBD)stone from Ascaris infection because they are different disease entities and have different imaging *** two diseases usually demonstrate unique characteristic findings on computed tomography or magnetic resonance ***,we report a rare case from our experience in which a CBD stone mimicked and was misdiagnosed as *** SUMMARY A 72-year-old male presented with elevated serum liver *** tomography showed a hyper-attenuated,elongated lesion in the CBD lumen and associated biliary *** resonance cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography revealed a linear filling defect in the bile ***,elongated echogenic material with a central hypoechogenic area was seen on endoscopic *** the imaging findings caused us to suspect infection with the nematode Ascaris,the lesion was revealed to be a dark-brown-colored CBD stone through endoscopic *** We report a rare case of a CBD stone that mimicked *** also review the literature for side-by-side comparisons of the imaging features of CBD stones and ascariasis.

NOAA/AVHRR sea surface temperature accuracy in the East/Japan Sea

Sea surface temperature(SST)retrieved from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer(AVHRR)onboard National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA)polar orbiting environmental satellites were validated in the East/Japan Sea(EJS)using surface drifter measurements as ground truths from 2005 to ***,the root-mean-square(rms)errors of multichannel SSTs(MCSSTs)and non-linear SSTs(NLSSTs)using global SST coefficients were approximately 0.85℃ and 0.80℃,*** analysis of the SST errors(satellite-drifter)revealed a dependence on the amount of atmospheric *** addition,satellite-derived SSTs tended to be related to wind speeds,particularly during the *** SST errors also demonstrated diurnal variations with relatively higher rms from 0.80℃ to 1.00℃ during the night than the day,with a small rms of about 0.50℃.Bias also exhibited reasonable diurnal differences,showing small biases during the *** a satellite zenith angle has been considered in the global SST coefficients,its effect on the SST errors still remained in case of the *** the diverse use of SST data,the continuous validation and understanding of the characteristic errors of satellite SSTs should be conducted based on extensive in-situ temperature measurements in the global ocean as well as local seas.

Oxygen permeability of soft contact lenses in different pH, osmolality and buffering solution

AIMTo determine the effect of pH, osmolality, and buffering system on the oxygen permeability (Dk) of soft contact *** hydrogel lenses (nelfilcon A and etafilcon A) and 2 silicone hydrogel lenses (lotrafilcon A and balafilcon A) were used in the study. These lenses were incubated in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and borate-buffered saline (BBS) solutions adjusted by 0.8 pH increments to a pH in the range of 5.8-9.0 or in hypotonic (280 mOsmol/kg), isotonic (310 mOsmol/kg) and hypertonic (380 mOsmol/kg) PBS solutions. Polarographic method was used for measuring the Dk and lenses were stacked as 4 layers to correct the boundary *** values of all contact lenses measured in BBS solutions were more stable than those in PBS solutions. Especially the etafilcon A lens showed a relative big change compared with other types of contact lenses at the same conditions. When the osmolality of PBS solution increased from hypotonic to hypertonic, Dk of all contact lenses decreased. Variations in Dk existed depending on lens materials, etafilcon A lens was the most affected and nelfilcon A was the least affected by *** the result obtained, it is revealed that Dk of contact lenses is changed by the pH, osmolality, and buffering condition of tear. Thus, Dk of contact lens can be varied by the lens wearers' physiological and/or pathological conditions.

Spatial phase-shifting interferometry with compensation of geometric errors based on genetic algorithm(Invited Paper)

We propose a novel spatial phase-shifting interferometry that exploits a genetic algorithm to compensate for geometric errors. Spatial phase-shifting interferometry is more suitable for measuring objects with properties that change rapidly in time than the temporal phase-shifting interferometry. However, it is more susceptible to the geometric errors since the positions at which interferograms are collected are different. In this letter, we propose a spatial phase-shifting interferometry with separate paths for object and reference waves. Also, the object wave estimate is parameterized in terms of geometric errors, and the error is compensated by using a genetic algorithm.

Artemisia kruhsiana leaf extract induces autophagic cell death in human prostate cancer cells

Some species of Artemisia have been reported to induce apoptosis and autophagy,but little is known of the apoptotic and autophagic effects of the stems and leaves of Artemisia kruhsiana Bess.(AkB).This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant and anti-autophagic effects of the methanol extracts of the stems(EAkBs)and leaves(EAkBl)of AkB on human prostate cancer PC-3 *** antioxidant effects of EAkBs and EAkBl were measured using in vitro total flavonoid and total phenolic assays and a free radical scavenging *** effects of EAkBl on cell viability,apoptosis,autophagy,intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and protein expression levels were also *** was found to induce apoptosis,autophagy,and intracellular ROS generation in PC-3 *** terms of protein levels,EAkBl reduced phospho(p)-protein kinase B(AKT)/AKT,p-mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)/mTOR,B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2)/Bcl-2-associated X protein(Bax)ratios,and the activations of beclin 1/β-actin and microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3(LC3)Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratios in PC-3 *** results of this study indicate EAkBl has antioxidant and anticancer effects on prostate cancer cells,and that these effects are associated with suppressions of p-AKT,p-mTOR,Bcl-2,and Bax,and the activations of beclin 1 and *** results indicate EAkBl has potential as a treatment for prostate cancer.
