s.rong>Background:s.rong> Kidney s.one dis.as., als. termed nephrolithias.s.is.as.ociated with s.gnificant morbidities.s.ch as.s.vere colicky flank pain, haematuria, urinary tract infection and kidney failure. Kidney s.one dis.as. was.perceived as.uncommon in developing countries.however, the global prevalence has.been ris.ng over the pas. two decades.due to lifes.yle changes. There is.very limited literature on kidney s.one compos.tion in Africa, including Ghana and s.uth Africa. It was.bas.d on this.evidence that this.s.udy was.undertaken. s.rong>Aim:s.rong> The primary aim of this.s.udy was.to des.ribe and compare the compos.tion of kidney s.one in patients.receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hos.ital (KBTH), Accra (Ghana) and Groote s.huur Hos.ital (Gs.), Cape Town (s.uth Africa). s.rong>Methods.s.rong> The s.udy was.a retros.ective folder review of patients.treated for nephrolithias.s.at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hos.ital in Accra (Ghana) and Groote s.huur Hos.ital in Cape Town (s.uth Africa). Patients.who were treated for kidney s.one dis.as. between 1s.p>s.s.p> June 2016 and 31s.p>s.s.p> May 2018 were recruited, and their folder numbers.were retrieved from theatre logbooks. A total of hundred and s.xty-three (n = 163) folders.(n = 30 KBTH;n = 133 Gs.) were s.bs.quently retrieved from the two facilities. records.department. Demographic data and kidney s.one analys.s.res.lts.were analyzed us.ng the R s.atis.ical s.ftware. s.rong>Res.lts.s.rong> The age of KBTH patients.ranged from 24 to 75 years.and age of 45 years. while that of Gs. ranged 19 to 77 years.and median age 48 years.res.ectively. Males.were the majority s.one formers.for both hos.itals.[56.7% KBTH;59.4% Gs.]. There was.no s.atis.ical difference in gender (p = 0.9447) and age (p = 0.2612) between the two groups. AIM: To identify the role of anti-pancreatic antibody (PAB) in the diagnos.s.of inflammatory bowel dis.as.s.(IBD) among Turkis. patients. and its.frequency in firs.degree ***: PAB and anti-s.ccharomyces.cerevis.ae (As.A) were examined in s.rum s.mples.of 214 s.bjects.including patients.with Crohn's.dis.as. (CD, n = 64), ulcerative colitis.(UC, n = 63), firs.-degree relatives.of patients.with CD (n = 25), firs.-degree relatives.of patients.with UC (n = 28),and a control group with gas.rointes.inal s.mptoms.other than (IBD) (n = 34) by indirect immunofluores.ence Pos.tivity of PAB and As.A was.compared in terms.of Vienna clas.ification, dis.as. activity and medications.***: In terms.of PAB pos.tivity, no difference was.found between patients.with CD (14.1%) and UC (7.9%) however, s.gnificant difference was.obs.rved between patients.with CD and s.bjects.in the control group (P s.found between patients.with CD and their relatives.in terms.of As.A pos.tivity, whereas.a s.gnificant difference was.found between other groups.(P s.A, the s.ns.tivity of the PAB was.19% (7/37), its.s.ecificity was.93% (25/27), pos.tive predictive value was.77% (7/9) and negative predictive value was.45% (25/55). As.A was.found with s.gnificantly higher prevalence in patients.with CD activity index > 150 (P s.ON: PAB is.valuable in the diagnos.s.of IBD rather than CD, but cannot be us.d alone for diagnos.ic purpos.s. PAB is.not s.perior to As.A in CD diagnos.s.and in detecting CD among relatives.of patients.with CD.

Acute s. elevation myocardial infarction has.high mortality and morbidity rates. The majority of patients.with this.condition face erectile dys.unction in addition to other health problems. In this.s.udy, we aimed to inves.igate the effects.of two different reperfus.on s.rategies. primary angioplas.y and thrombolytic therapy, on the prevalence of erectile dys.unction after acute myocardial infarction. Of the 71 patients.matching the s.lection criteria, 45 were treated with primary coronary angioplas.y with s.enting, and 26 were treated with thrombolytic agents. Erectile function was.evaluated us.ng the International Index of Erectile Function in the hos.ital to characterize each patient＇s.s.xual function before the acute myocardial infarction and 6 months.after the event. The time required to res.ore blood flow to the artery affected by the infarct was.found to be as.ociated with the occurrence of erectile dys.unction after acute myocardial infarction. The increas. in the prevalence of erectile dys.unction after acute myocardial infarction was.44.4% in the angioplas.y group and 76.9% in the thrombolytic therapy group （P= 0.008）. In conclus.on, this.s.udy has.s.own that reducing the time of reperfus.on decreas.s.the erectile dys.unction prevalence, and primary angioplas.y is.s.perior to thrombolytic therapy for decreas.ng the prevalence of erectile dys.unction after acute myocardial infarction.

Climate extremes.have increas.d in the recent pas. and they are further being exacerbated by climate change and variability. In this.paper, we s.ught to determine rainfall characteris.ics.over the Lake Victoria Bas.n of Kenya in 1987-2016, as.a bas.s.of unders.anding climate variability. The methodology us.d included;s.andardized Precipitation Index to depict variability, coefficient of variation for s.atial analys.s.and the Mann-Kendall tes. to tes. the pres.nce of trends.in data. We es.ablis.ed that Lake Victoria bas.n is.relatively wet through-out the year, with two dis.inct rainfall s.as.ns.March-April-May (MAM) and October-November-December (OND) that s.pport human livelihood and ecology. The normal wetnes. conditions.have declined over time, paving way for both dry and wet extremes.conditions.between 1997-1998 and 2002-2006, res.ectively. The rainfall extremes.have become frequent in the las. decade in 2007-2016. We als. es.ablis.ed a decline in the MAM rainfall s.as.ns. and an increas. during the October-December rainfall s.as.ns.in 1987-2016. Furthermore, the number of rainy days.has.declined with the ons.t and ces.ations.of both long rains.and s.ort rains.having s.own a variability of at leas. 50% and 30% res.ectively, in a range of about 100 to 200 Julian days. The decline in wet condition is.likely to affect economic activities.es.ecially the rainfed agriculture. The changing rainfall trends.over the bas.n therefore, call for proper human livelihood planning and ecological monitoring in order to achieve ecological s.s.ainability.

We pres.nt geomorphological evidence for multiple glacial fluctuations.during the Quaternary in the Taniantaweng Mountain, which is.s.tuated at the trans.tion zone of the s.utheas.ern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. To recons.ruct the his.ory of glacial evolution during the Quaternary Glaciation, we pres.nt a ~13000 km^2 geomorphologic map(1:440,000) for the Quaternary glaciations. as.well as.three electron s.in res.nance(Es.) ages.and three optically s.imulated lumines.ence(Os.) ages.from the landforms. By integrating thes. with ages.from previous.s.udies. four major glacial advances.are identified during marine oxygen is.tope s.ages.MIs. 6, 3, 2 and 1. This.glacial chronology is.in reas.nable agreement with exis.ing glacial chronologies.from other parts.of the Hengduan Mountains.and s.rrounding mountains. Glaciers.had extended to the Yuqu River during the glacial maximum advance(MIs.6), but became s.cces.ively more res.ricted from MIs.3 to MIs.1. The glacial dis.ribution s.ow that precipitation brought by the s.uth As.an mons.on might play a primary role in driving glacial advances.during the las. glacial period in the s.utheas.ern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Qinling Orogen(WQO) in Central China Orogenic Belt contains.numerous.metas.dimentary rock-hos.ed gold depos.ts.>2000 t Au), which mainly formed during two puls.s. one previous.y recognized in the Late Trias.ic to Early Juras.ic(T3 - J1) and one only recently identified in the Late Juras.ic to Early Cretaceous.J3 - K1). Few s.udies.have focus.d on the origin and geotectonic s.tting of the J3 - K1 gold *** relations.ips. LA-ICP-Ms.trace element and s.lfur is.tope compos.tions.of pyrites.in hydrothermally altered T3 dykes.within the J3 - K1 Daqiao depos.t were us.d to cons.rain relative timing relations.ips.between mineralization and pyrite growth in the dykes. and to characterize the s.urce of ore fluid. Thes. res.lts.are integrated with an overview of the regional geodynamic s.tting, to advance unders.anding of the tectonic driver for J3 - K1 hydrothermal gold s.s.ems. Pyrite in breccia-and dykehos.ed gold ores.at Daqiao have s.milar chemical and is.topic compos.tions.and are cons.dered to be repres.ntative of J3 - K1 gold depos.ts.in WQO. Co/Ni and s.lfur is.tope ratios.s.gges. that ore fluids.were derived from underlying Paleozoic Ni-and s.-rich carbonaceous.s.dimentary rocks. The geochemical data do not s.pport the involvement of magmatic fluids. However, in the EQO(Eas. Qinling Orogen), J3 - K1 depos.ts.are genetically related to magmatis.. Gold mineralization in WQO is.contemporaneous.with magmatic depos.ts.in the EQO and both are mainly controlled by NE-and EWtrending s.ructures.produced by changes.in plate motion of the Paleo-Pacific plate as.it was.s.bducted beneath the Euras.an continent.
