We present an alternative and,for the purpose of non-crystalline materials design,a more suitable description of covalent and ionic glassy solids as statistical ensembles of crystalline local minima on the potential energy *** by the concept of partially broken ergodicity,we analytically formulate the set of approximations under which the structural features of ergodic systems such as the radial distribution function(RDF)and powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)intensity can be rigorously expressed as statistical ensemble averages over different local *** is carried out by evaluating these ensemble averages for elemental Si and SiO_(2) over the local minima obtained through the first-principles random structure sampling that we performed using relatively small simulation cells,thereby restricting the sampling to a set of predominantly crystalline *** comparison with XRD and RDF from experiments(amorphous silicon)and molecular dynamics simulations(glassy SiO_(2))shows excellent agreement,thus supporting the ensemble picture of glasses and opening the door to fully predictive description without the need for experimental inputs.

Results of the two-dimensionally reconstructed distribution of soft X-ray emission in HL-2A and electromagnetic radiation in large helical device （LHD） are presented. Hardware improvements of in-vessel soft X-ray cameras and the development of tomographic software have made detailed and visual studies of soft X-ray emission possible in HL-2A. Several algorithms are employed in order to get as detail as possible in the images while keeping the guiding assumptions to a minimum. Recently success has been achieved in applying a 2D peeling away algorithm for tomographic reconstruction of LHD bolometric data jointly under the China-Japan collaboration. The data analysed so far have been used to study magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） instabilities on HL-2A tokamak and radiation losses on LHD.

background Long-term outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries hospitalised with transient ischaemic attack(TIA)and role of AbCD^(2) score in identifying high-risk individuals are not *** We identified 40825 Medicare beneficiaries hospitalised from 2011 to 2014 for a TIA to a Get With The Guidelines(GWTG)-Stroke hospital and classified them using AbCD^(2)s of mortality and rehospitalisation(all-cause,ischaemic stroke,haemorrhagic stroke,myocardial infarction,and gastrointestinal and intracranial haemorrhage)for high-risk versus low-risk groups adjusted for patient and hospital *** Of the 40825 patients,35118(86%)were high risk(AbCD^(2)≥4)and 5707(14%)were low risk(AbCD^(2)=0-3).Overall rate of mortality during 1-year follow-up after hospital discharge for the index TIA was 11.7%,44.3% were rehospitalised for any reason and 3.6%were readmitted due to *** with AbCD^(2) score≥4 had higher mortality at 1 year than not(adjusted HR 1.18,95%CI 1.07 to 1.30).Adjusted risks for ischaemic stroke,all-cause readmission and mortality/all-cause readmission at 1 year were also significantly higher for patients with AbCD^(2) score≥4 vs *** contrast,haemorrhagic stroke,myocardial infarction,gastrointestinal bleeding and intracranial haemorrhage risk were not significantly different by AbCD^(2) *** This study validates the use of AbCD^(2) score for long-term risk assessment after TIA in patients aged 65 years and *** efforts for community-based follow-up care after TIA are needed for ongoing prevention in Medicare beneficiaries who were hospitalised for TIA.

The liver is the central organ involved in lipid metabolism. Dyslipidemia and its related disorders, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD), obesity and other metabolic diseases, are of increasing public health concern due to their increasing prevalence in the population. besides their well-characterized functions in cholesterol homoeostasis and nutrient absorption, bile acids are also important metabolic regulators and function as signaling hormones by activating specific nuclear receptors, G-protein coupled receptors, and multiple signaling pathways. Recent studies identified a new signaling pathway by which conjugated bile acids(CbA) activate the extracellular regulated protein kinases(ERK1/2) and protein kinase b(AKT) signaling pathway via sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2(S1PR2). CbA-induced activation of S1PR2 is a key regulator of sphingosine kinase 2(Sph K2) andhepatic gene expression. This review focuses on recent findings related to the role of bile acids/S1PR2-mediated signaling pathways in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism.

Observations of microstructural coarsening at cryogenic temperatures,as well as numerous simulations of grain boundary motion that show faster migration at low temperature than at high temperature,have been troubling because they do not follow the expected Arrhenius *** work demonstrates that classical equations,that are not simplified,account for all these oddities and demonstrate that non-Arrhenius behavior can emerge from thermally activated *** to this classical model,this occurs when the intrinsic barrier energies of the processes become small,allowing activation at cryogenic *** thermal energy then allows the low energy process to proceed in reverse,so increasing temperature only serves to frustrate the forward *** classical form is shown to reconcile and describe a variety of diverse grain boundary migration observations.

Separate sanitary sewer systems are designed to convey sewage waste from municipal areas to a central treatment facility;they are not designed to handle water associated with precipitation events. However, intercept of groundwater (infiltration) and of flows through manholes or unauthorized connections (inflows) introduces rainwater into the sanitary sewer system. Infiltration/Inflow (I/I) increases the costs associated with treatment and can create additional environmental problems. Identifying and quantifying the volume I/I can be complicated and costly. A simple quantitative method was developed to quantify the extent of I/I occurring in sewer sheds. The method uses measured sewer flows, water usage, precipitation values, and land cover data to calculate the volume of extraneous flows. To assess its utility, the method was used to compare two urban sewer sheds, Holiday Knolls and Eagle View. both sewer sheds showed evidence of I/I in excess of 200 gallons per day per inch-mile of sewer pipe (gpd/in-mile). Holiday Knolls, the older subdivision had an average I/I of 1912 gpd/in-mile, while Eagle View had an average of 1143 gpd/in-mile. The devel- oped method provided simple means to calculate I/I and to identify sewer sheds in need of repair.

Regimes of continuous and pulsed laser action on high-melting oxide compounds of ZrO2 were found with the aim of obtaining steady coatings on monocrystal silicon on laser ablation.X-ray phase analyses,scanning and atomic-force microscopy reveal that the coatings obtained are of nanocluster structure with the cubic *** this case the nanoclusters reach several hundreds of nanometers in *** assumption was made that on laser ablation of ZrO2 thermostabilization may take place where a minimum of the surface energy is attained just at cubic ordering.
