Kinematic error modeling and error compensation of desktop 3d printer

desktop 3d printers have revolutionized how designers and makers prototype and manufacture certain *** popular fuse deposition modeling(FdM)desktop printers have enabled a shift to low-cost consumer goods markets,through reduced capital equipment investment and consumable material ***,with this drive to reduce costs,the computer numerical control(CNC)systems implemented in FdM printers are often compromised by poor accuracy and contouring *** condition is most critical as users begin to use 3d-printed components in load-bearing applications or to perform mechanical *** methods of low-cost 3d printer calibration are needed before their open-design potential can be realized in applications,including 3d-printed.orthotics and *** paper applies methodologies associated with high-precision CNC machining systems,namely,kinematic error modeling and compensation coupled with standardized test methods from ISo230-4,such as the ballbar for kinematic and dynamic error measurements,to examine the influence and feasibility for use on low-cost CNC/3d printing ***,the *** and drug Administration's"Technical considerations for additive manufactured medical devices"highlighted the need to develop standards specific to additive manufacturing in regulated manufacturing *** paper shows the benefits of the methods described within ISo230-4 for error assessment,alongside applying kinematic error modeling and compensation to the popular kinematic configuration of an Ultimaker 3d printer.A Renishaw ballbar QC10 is used to quantify the Ultimaker's errors and thereby populate the error *** method quantifies machine errors and populates these in a mathematical model of the CNC ***,a post-processor can be used to compensate the printing ***,the ballbar is used to demonstrate the dramatic impact of the error compensation model on the accuracy and contouring of the Ultimaker pr

Simple and customizable method for fabrication of high-aspect ratio microneedle molds using low-cost 3d printing

We present a simple and customizable microneedle mold fabrication technique using a low-cost desktop SLA 3d *** opposed to conventional microneedle fabrication methods,this technique neither requires complex and expensive manufacturing facilities nor expertise in *** most low-cost 3d-printed microneedles to date display low aspect ratios and poor tip sharpness,we show that by introducing a two-step“Print&Fill”mold fabrication method,it is possible to obtain high-aspect ratio sharp needles that are capable of penetrating *** first the effect of varying design input parameters and print settings,it is shown that printed needles are always shorter than *** decreasing input height,needles also begin displaying an increasingly greater than specified needle base *** factors contribute to low aspect ratio needles when attempting to print submillimeter height *** setting input height tall enough,it is possible to print needles with high-aspect ratios and tip radii of 20–40μ*** tip sharpness is smaller than the specified printer ***,high-aspect ratio sharp needle arrays are printed in basins which are backfilled and cured in a second step,leaving sub-millimeter microneedles exposed resulting microneedle arrays which can be used as male *** female master molds are then formed from the fabricated microneedle *** the molds,both carboxymethyl cellulose loaded with rhodamine B as well as polylactic acid microneedle arrays are produced and their quality examined.A skin insertion study is performed to demonstrate the functional capabilities of arrays made from the fabricated *** method can be easily adopted by the microneedle research community for in-house master mold fabrication and parametric optimization of microneedle arrays.

Localization of urea transporter B in the developing bovine rumen

Urea nitrogen secreted from blood to rumen is a crucial factor shaping the symbiotic relationship between host ruminants and their microbial *** of urea across rumen epithelia is facilitated by urea transporter B(UT-B),but the long-term regulation of these proteins remains *** ruminal function develops over a period.of months,the developing rumen is an excellent model with which to investigate this *** rumen epithelium samples of calves from birth to 96 d.of age,this study performed immunolocalization studies to localize and semi-quantify UT-B protein *** expected,preliminary experiments confirmed that ruminal monocarboxylate transporter 1(MCT1)short chain fatty acid transporter protein abundance increased with age(Pon revealed that ruminal UT-B was present in the first few weeks of life and initially detected in the basolateral membrane of stratum basale *** the next 2 months,UT-B staining spread to other epithelial layers and semi-quantification indicated that UT-B abundance significantly increased with age(Por 6).These changes were in line with the development of rumen function after the advent of solid feed intake and weaning,exhibiting a similar pattern to both MCT1 transporters and papillae *** study therefore confirmed age-dependent changes of in situ ruminal UT-B protein,adding to our understanding of the long-term regulation of ruminal urea transporters.

Sustained virologic response following HCV eradication in two brothers with X-linked agammaglobulinaemia

X-linked agammaglobulinaemia (XLA) is a humoral immunodeficiency synd.ome characterized from child.ood by the absence of circulating B lymphocytes, absent or reduced levels of serum immunoglobulin and recurrent bacterial infections. For many affected patients, regular treatment with immunoglobulin is life saving. Hepatitis C viral (HCV) infection acquired through contaminated blood products is widely described in this patient cohort. The natural history of HCV infection in patients with XLA tends to follow a more rapid and aggressive course compared to immunocompetent individuals. Furthermore, standard anti-viral therapy appears to be less efficacious in this patient cohort. Here we report the cases of two brothers with XLA who contracted HCV through contaminated blood products. They were treated with a six month course of Interferon alpha-2b and Ribavirin. We report a sustained virologic response five years after completing treatment.

Ultrabroadband and sensitive cavity optomechanical magnetometry

Magnetostrictive optomechanical cavities provide a new optical readout approach to room-temperature *** we report ultrasensitive and ultrahigh bandwidth cavity optomechanical magnetometers constructed by embedding a grain of the magnetostrictive material Terfenol-d within a high quality(Q)optical microcavity on a silicon *** engineering their physical structure,we achieve a peak sensitivity of26 p T∕Hz1/2 p comparable to the best cryogenic microscale magnetometers,along with a 3 d B bandwidth as high as 11.3 *** classes of magnetic response are observed,which we postulate arise from the crystallinity of the *** allows single crystalline and polycrystalline grains to be distinguished at the level of a single *** results may enable applications such as lab-on-chip nuclear magnetic spectroscopy and magnetic navigation.

口蹄疫病毒野毒株利用整联蛋白(integrin)αvβ1、αvβ3、αvβ6和αvβ8作为受体侵入细胞。本研究采用实时逆转录聚合酶链反应(qRT-PCR)技术,定量检测绵羊胎儿(45、75和110 d的绵羊胎儿)、新生羔羊和成年绵羊组织中整联蛋白亚单位αv、β3、β6和β8转录水平。比较分析发现,在蹄冠上皮组织中,成年绵羊和新生羔羊的β6 mRNA水平低于75和110 d胎儿的;在心组织中,成年绵羊、新生羔羊和110 d胎儿的β6 mRNA高于45和75 d胎儿的;在肌肉组织中,胎儿和新生羔羊的β6以及β8 mRNA水平高于成年绵羊的;在舌上皮组织中,成年绵羊的β3 mRNA水平低于其他发育时期的。在软腭组织、扁桃体中整联蛋白mRNA水平在胎儿、新生儿和成年绵羊之间变化不大。本研究首次获得相关整联蛋白mRNA在绵羊不同发育阶段组织中分布的定量数据,为了解整联蛋白在口蹄疫病毒感染组织嗜性中的作用机制提供新的科学依据。
