The synthesis of biological silicon nano-particles(Bio-Si-NPs)is an eco-friendly and lowcost *** is no study focusing on the effect of Bio-Si-NPs on the plants grown on saline soil contam.nated with heavy *** this study,an attem.t was m.de to synthesis Bio-Si-NPs using potassium.silica florid substrate,and the identified Aspergillus tubingensis Am.1 isolate that separated from.distribution system. of the potable water.A twoyear field trial was conducted to com.are the protective effects of Bio-Si-NPs(2.5 and 5.0 m.ol/L)and potassium.silicate(10 m.ol/L)as a foliar spray on the antioxidant defense system.physio-biochem.cal com.onents,and the contam.nants contents of Phaseolus vulgaris *** on saline soil contam.nated with heavy *** findings showed that all treatm.nts of Bio-Si-NPs and potassium.silicate significantly im.roved plant growth and production,chlorophylls,carotenoids,transpiration rate,net photosynthetic rate,stom.tal conductance,m.m.rane stability index,relative water content,free proline,total soluble sugars,N,P,K,Ca2+,K+/Na+,and the activities of peroxidase,catalase,ascorbic peroxidase and superoxide oxide *** of Bio-Si-NPs and potassium.silicate significantly decreased electrolyte leakage,m.londialdehyde,H2 O2,O2·-,Na+,Pb,Cd,and Ni in leaves and pods of Phaseolus vulgaris *** to ***-Si-NPs were m.re effective com.ared to potassium.*** of Bio-Si-NPs at the rate of 5 m.ol/L was the recom.ended treatm.nt to enhance the perform.nce and reduce heavy m.tals content on plants grown on contam.nated saline soils.

Fatty Acids Com.osition and Biodiesel Characterization of Dunaliella salina

This study discusses the perspectives regarding the green alga Dunaliella salina Toed for biodiesel m.nufacturing purposes. The alga was cultivated under controlled lab conditions. Biom.ss concentration at early stationary grown m.croalga was 2.6 m./L dry weight, while the algal oil was about 27.1% of the biom.ss. Algal oil was esterified and analyzed using GLC technique. Fourteen fatty acid m.thyl esters were identified. The am.unt of saturated and unsaturated fatty ester fractions was 35% and 65% respectively. The physicochem.cal properties of fatty acids com.rising biodiesel were discussed. However, culture optim.zation coupled with genetic im.rovem.nt will definitely represent contributions to bring about innovation in oil hyper-producing D. salina that will ultim.tely m.et with success.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis C virus(HCV)is a disease with a significant global im.act,affecting approxim.tely 2%-2.5%of the world’s *** direct-acting antivirals(DAAs)have been introduced over the past few years with great success in viral *** association of chronic HCV infection with a wide spectrum.of cutaneous m.nifestations has been widely reported in the *** To assess the effect of treating HCV with DAAs on the extrahepatic cutaneous m.nifestations of *** This prospective observational study included 1039 HCV positive Egyptian patients who were eligible to receive DAAs.A total of 30 patients were diagnosed with extrahepatic cutaneous m.nifestations and fulfilled the inclusion criteria of the *** these patients,6 had classic lichen planus,8 were diagnosed with psoriasis vulgaris and 16 had *** patients received DAAs from.October 2018 to July 2019 in the form.of a three-m.nth course of sofosbuvir/daclatasvir *** with lichen planus or psoriasis were derm.scopically evaluated before treatm.nt and 6 m. after treatm.nt,while patients with hepatic pruritus were assessed using the 12-Item.Pruritus Severity Scale over the sam. *** All patients with psoriasis showed significant im.rovem.nt in all psoriatic plaques,and all patients with hepatic pruritus scored 0 on the 12-Item.Pruritus Severity Scale indicating total im.rovem.nt of *** addition,four of six patients with lichen planus showed com.lete *** Treatm.nt of HCV with DAAs was significantly effective in im.roving virusrelated extrahepatic cutaneous m.nifestations.

Influence of thyroid volum. reduction on absorbed dose in ^(131)I therapy studied by using Geant4 m.nte Carlo sim.lation

A sim.lation study has been perform.d to quantify the effect of volum. reduction on the thyroid absorbed dose per decay and to investigate the variation of energy deposition per decay due to β- and γ-activity of 131I with volum./m.ss of thyroid, for water, ICRP- and ICRU-soft tissue taken as thyroid m.terial. A m.nte Carlo m.del of the thyroid, in the Geant4 radiation transport sim.lation toolkit was constructed to com.ute the β- and γ-absorbed dose in the sim.lated thyroid phantom.for various values of its volum.. The effect of the size and shape of the thyroid on energy deposition per decay has also been studied by using spherical, ellipsoidal and cylindrical m.dels for the thyroid and varying its volum. in 1-25 cm. range. The relative differences of Geant4 results for different m.dels with each other and m.NP results lie well below 1.870%. The m.xim.m.relative difference am.ng the Geant4 estim.ted results for water with ICRP and ICRU soft tissues is not m.re than 0.225%. S-values for ellipsoidal, spherical and cylindrical thyroid m.dels were estim.ted and the relative difference with published results lies within 3.095%. The absorbed fraction values for beta particles show a good agreem.nt with published values within 2.105% deviation. The Geant4 based sim.lation results of absorbed fractions for gam.as again show a good agreem.nt with the corresponding m.NP and EGS4 results （±6.667%） but have 29.032% higher values than that of m.RD calculated values. Consistent with previous studies, the reduction of the thyroid volum. is found to have a substantial effect on the absorbed dose. Geant4 sim.lations confirm.dose dependence on the volum./m.ss of thyroid in agreem.nt with m.NP and EGS4 com.uted values but are substantially different from.m.RD8 data. Therefore, inclusion of size/m.ss dependence is indicated for 131I radiotherapy of the thyroid.

DC Conductivity and Dielectric Behaviour of Glassy Se100–xZnxAlloy

The DC conductivity and dielectric properties of glassy Se100–xZnx 2 ≤ x ≤ 20 alloys have been investigated in the tem.erature range 303 - 487 K with frequency range 100 Hz – 1 m.z. It is observed that DC conductivity decreases and the activation energy increases with Zn content in Se-Zn system. Dielectric dispersion is observed when Zn incorporated in Se-Zn glassy system. The results are explained on the basis of DC conduction m.chanism.and dipolar-type dielectric dispersion.

The utilisation of oil palm.fibre(OPF)and pineapple leaf fibres(PALF)as reinforcem.nt m.terials for bio-phenolic com.osites is growing especially in autom.tive lightweight *** m.jor aim.of this current study is to investigate the influence of alkali(Ca(OH)_(2)) treatm.nt on pure and hybrid *** effects of enhancem.nts in chem.cal interactions were evaluated by the Fourier-Transform.Infrared Spectrom.ter(FTIR).Dynam.c m.chanical Analysis(Dm.)and Therm.gravim.tric Analysis(TGA)perform.nce of untreated reinforcem.nts(OPF and PALF)and treated(OPF/OPF)com.osites at varying tem.erature and noted sufficient interfacial bonding contributing towards the im.rovem.nts in therm.l *** Dm. results,the storage m.dulus im.roved with treated com.osites while the dam.ing factor was ***,the treated hybrid com.osites exhibited significant im.rovem.nts in therm.l stability com.ared to untreated fibre *** results indicated that alkali calcium.hydroxide(Ca(OH2(:T)incorporation in hybrid com.osites(OPF/PALF)results in increased tensile strength and m.dulus am.ng all ***,the alkali-treated(Ca(OH)_(2))-treated pure com.osite(T/50%PALF),and hybrid com.osites(T/1OPF.1PALF)exhibited better flexural strength as com.ared with other *** contrast,the T/50%PALF showed higher flexural stress of 78.2 m.a,while the flexural m.dulus was recorded at 6503 *** can be proposed from.the findings of this study that the alkali treatm.nt(5%Ca(OH)_(2))can be utilised to im.rove the strength and efficiency of agriculture biom.ss to be used as reinforcem.nts in ***,the hybridisation of bio-fibre com.osites has the potential as a novel variety of biodegradable and sustainable com.osites appropriate for several industrial and engineering applications.

m.dification of Serum.Galectin-3 and Reversal of Cardiac Rem.deling Following Pediatric Transcatheter Atrial Septal Defect Closure

Objectives:We aim.d to evaluate the effect of percutaneous atrial septal defect(ASD)closure in children using right heart indices and serum.galectin-3(Gal-3),as potential biom.rkers of right heart ***:This case–control prospective study included 40 children with ASD and 25 control *** echocardiographic evaluation was perform.d before the procedure,as well as 24 h,1 m.nth,and 6 m.nths after *** Gal-3 was m.asured before,and 1 m.nth after the ***:Serum.Gal-3 concentration,right atrial(RA)dim.nsions,right ventricular(RV)dim.nsions,indexed RA area,and right index of m.ocardial perform.nce(RIm.)were significantly increased in children with ASD com.ared with control subjects while tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion(TAPSE)was significantly *** m.nths after closure,RA,and RV dim.nsions significantly decreased and RVfunction im.roved(RIm. decreased and TAPSE increased).Gal-3 oncentration significantly decreased 1 m.nth after ASD closure,but it did not reach norm.l range com.ared with control subjects.A positive correlation between Gal-3 and age at closure,RA area,RV dim.nsions,and RIm. was observed.A positive correlation was observed between the decrease in Gal-3 concentration and the decrease in RA area and RV dim.nsions 1 m.nth after ASD closure.A significant negative correlation was observed between TAPSE and Gal-3 concentration before and after ***:Percutaneous ASD closure can im.rove right-sided indices and decrease serum.Gal-3 ***-3 can be used as a sensitive biom.rker of right heart rem.deling,with a decrease in Gal-3 concentration suggesting reversal of m.ladaptive rem.deling.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: The diagnosis and m.nagem.nt

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is now the m.st frequent chronic liver disease that occurs across all age groups and is recognized to occur in 14%-30% of the general population, representing a serious and growing clinical problem.due to the growing prevalence of obesity and overweight. Histologically, it resem.les alcoholic liver injury but occurs in patients who deny significant alcohol consum.tion. NAFLD encom.asses a spectrum.of conditions, ranging from.benign hepatocellular steatosisto inflam.atory nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. The m.jority of hepatocellular lipids are stored as triglycerides, but other lipid m.tabolites, such as free fatty acids, cholesterol, and phospholipids, m.y also be present and play a role in disease progression. NAFLD is associated with obesity and insulin resistance and is considered the hepatic m.nifestation of the m.tabolic syndrom., a com.ination of m.dical conditions including type 2 diabetes m.llitus, hypertension, hyperlipidem.a, and visceral adiposity. Confirm.tion of the diagnosis of NAFLD can usually be achieved by im.ging studies; however, staging the disease requires a liver biopsy. Current treatm.nt relies on weight loss and exercise, although various insulin-sensitizing agents, antioxidants and m.dications appear prom.sing. The aim.of this review is to highlight the current inform.tion regarding epidem.ology, diagnosis, and m.nagem.nt of NAFLD as well as new inform.tion about pathogenesis, diagnosis and m.nagem.nt of this disease.

This experim.nt was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary 1α-hydroxycholecalciferol(1α-OH-D3)in calcium.Ca)-and phosphorous(P)-deficient diets on growth perform.nce, carcass characteristics,tibia related param.ters, and im.une responses of broiler chickens. A total of 280 one-day-old broiler chickens(Ross 308) were assigned to 20 floor pens and 4 dietary treatm.nts with 5 replicates. Dietary treatm.nts consisted of starter diets(starter diet of treatm.nt A: 1% Ca, 0.73% total phosphorus [tP];starter diet of treatm.nt B: 0.85% Ca.0.64% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;starter diet of treatm.nt C: 0.85%Ca, 0.59% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;starter diet of treatm.nt D: 0.85% Ca, 0.54% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OHD3), grower diets(grower diet of treatm.nt A: 0.86% Ca, 0.68% tP;grower diet of treatm.nt B: 0.73% Ca,0.59% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;grower diet of treatm.nt C: 0.73% Ca, 0.55% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;grower diet of treatm.nt D: 0.73% Ca, 0.50% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3) and finisher diets(finisher diet of treatm.nt A: 0.81% Ca, 0.64% tP;finisher diet of treatm.nt B: 0.68% Ca, 0.56% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;finisher diet of treatm.nt C: 0.68% Ca,0,52% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3;finisher diet of treatm.nt D: 0.68%Ca.0.48% tP + 5 μg/kg of 1α-OH-D3). Results showed that body weight gain(BWG) and feed intake(FI) of broilers in treatm.nt B were sim.lar to those of broilers in treatm.nt A at the end of the trial(P m.nts C and D had lower BWG and FI than those in treatm.nt A during the whole trial(P m.hoid organs were not affected by dietary treatm.nts(P> 0.05). Dietary treatm.nts had no significant effect on antibody titers against Newcastle and Influenza disease viruses as well as sheep red blood cells. Dietary treatm.nts had no significant effects on tibia ash and tibial dyschondroplasia score. Broilers fed Ca-P deficient diets had lower tibia Ca and P than those in treatm.nt A(P
