Plants play an e.se.tial role.in matte. and e.e.gy transformations and are.ke. me.se.ge.s in the.carbon and e.e.gy cycle. Ne. primary productivity (NPP) re.le.ts the.capability of plants to transform solar e.e.gy into photosynthe.is. It is ve.y se.sible.for factors affe.ting on ve.e.ation variability such as climate. soils, plant characte.istics and human activitie.. So, it can be.use. as an indicator of actual and pote.tial tre.d of ve.e.ation. In this study we.use. the.actual NPP which was de.ive. from MODIS to asse.s the.re.ponse.of NPP to climate.variable. in Gadarif State. from 2000 to 2010. The.corre.ations be.we.n NPP and climate.variable. (te.pe.ature.and pre.ipitation) are.calculate. using Pe.rson’s Corre.ation Coe.ficie.t and ordinary le.st square. re.re.sion. The.main re.ults show the.following 1) the.corre.ation Coe.ficie.t be.we.n NPP and me.n annual te.pe.ature.is Some.hat ne.ative.for Fe.haga, Rahd, Gadarif and Galabat are.s and we.kly ne.ative.in Faw are.;2) the.corre.ation Coe.ficie.t be.we.n NPP and annual total pre.ipitation is we.kly ne.ative.in Faw, Rahd and Galabat are.s and some.hat ne.ative.in Galabat and Rahd are.s.
