Background: Anemia is multifactorial and very frequently observed in the evolution of cirrhosis. Only biological investigations can clarify its mechanisms. Objective: To determine the frequency of anemia in cirrhosis patients and to identify the different types of anemia encountered. Patients and Methods: Descriptive and analytical study based on the retrospective collection of data was carried out over 12 months in the hepato-gastroenterology unit of the University Hospital Campus of Lome (Togo). This study included hospitalized cirrhotic patients with a complete medical file including a blood count and presenting anemia. Results: During the study period, we collected 253 cases of cirrhosis, of which 153 patients had anemia (60.5%);there was a male predominance of 73.2%. The mean age was 51 ± 13 years. The B viral origin of cirrhosis was the most common (60.1%). Oedemato-ascitic decompensation (82.4%) and hepatocellular carcinoma (34%) were the main complications

The regulatory mechanisms of drought and salt-associated miRNAs have not been fully understood in Sorghum bicolor. In this study, we investigated the effect of salinity stress (200 and 300 mM NaCl) and drought stress at pre- and post-flowering stages on the expression pattern of small regulatory RNAs in six Sorghum genotypes using semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-qPCR). The results indicated that both drought and salt stresses altered the expression pattern of miRNAs in a dose-dependent manner. However, each miRNA responded to drought and salt stress in a different pattern among the six sorghum genotypes. miR156, miR167, miR168 and miR399 give different expressions levels compared to other studied miRNAs which may attribute to the adaption of sorghum to drought and salt stress and are good candidates for improving sorghum by transgenic technology.

目的介绍巴黎ROBERT DEBRE医院的小儿外科应用在膀胱镜下输尿管下端开口处注射聚糖酐/透明质酸共聚物治疗(DEFLUX)治疗小儿膀胱输尿管返流的经验.方法选取从2001～2003年,ROBERT DEBRE 医院(巴黎)小儿外科治疗的57个患儿,其中男11例,女46例.平均年龄71个月.患者有急性肾盂肾炎(APN)史,有药物治疗史,并有不同程度的膀胱输尿管返流.共80侧返流的输尿管,行膀胱镜下输尿管开口处注射DEFLUX.结果治疗的患儿术后1年随访.未发现明显的并发症.被治愈的输尿管共58侧(72.5%),1年内未有尿路感染的45例(78.9%).Ⅰ度返流治愈率82.5%.Ⅱ度返流治愈率75.9%.Ⅲ度返流治愈率68.7%.Ⅳ度返流治愈率0.结论在膀胱镜下输尿管下端注射DEFLUX来治疗小儿膀胱输尿管返流,从而控制因膀胱输尿管返流引起的尿路感染是有效的,且安全和简单.

Context and Aim: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) have emerged as ideal candidates for advanced therapies of various therapeutically-challenging diseases;however, their regenerative potential in diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) has not been well determined. In this study, we reviewed our clinical experience in mitigating chronic ulcer complications of diabetic foot through a conventional treatment of autologous adipose-derived MSCs embedded in PRF with pure PRF injections. Materials and Methods: The present study was carried out in 10 patients with an open DFU wound selected over a period of 1 year starting from April 2019. Patients were either injected with PRF alone (Group A) or injected with MSCs derived from adipose tissue (ADMSC) embedded in (PRF (Group B). Results: Patients in Group B had a better healing index when compared to Group A. Conclusion: Use of ADMSC embedded in PRF showed promising results to treat DFU.

Primary Melanoma of the Vagina Treated by Imatinib: Case Report

Melanoma of the vagina is a rare lesion. It results from the malignant transformation of ectopic melanocytes occurring in post-menopause. The CKIT is expressed in 36% of cases in addition to melanoma markers. Prognosis is poor especially for inoperable and disseminated forms despite systemic therapy. Treatment with Imatinib is an option in cases of metastatic mucosal melanoma with CKIT mutation or amplification. We report the case of post-menopausal women, treated at Hassan II University Hospital, diagnosed with metastatic melanoma of the vagina, that didn’t respond to first line of chemotherapy, and received Imatinib as second line of treatment, with good clinical response and durable stability at radiological assessment.

Effects of the Shading Rate on the electrical Parameters of CIGS-Based Solar Modules

The aim of this article is to study the effects of the shading rate on the electrical performance parameters of CIGS PV modules. The study concerns a new flexible CIGS type photovoltaic module with a power of 90 W, manufactured by the company Shenzhen Shine Solar Co., Ltd. This module, reference SN-CIGS90, is tested under the initial conditions to ensure its correct operation and to determine the initial values of the electrical parameters before shading. After this characterization test, the module is exposed under the actual operating conditions of the Renewable Energies Study and Research Center (CERER), located in Dakar, then 4 types of shading are performed with the same mask: partial shading 25% partial shading, 50% partial shading, 75% partial shading, and 100% full shading. The variation rates obtained on the experimental values of the 4 types of shading carried out determine that the shading phenomenon constitutes a factor that influences negatively on the electrical parameters of a CIGS-based PV module. Indeed, for 25% of the surface of the shaded module, there is a reduction of 58.139% of the maximum power and of 60.507% of the efficiency and for shading of 100%, the module loses 84.436% of its maximum power and 84.135% of its performance.

Different aspects of micropropagation through meristem culture for the production of virus indexed source plants, in vitro tuberization and field evaluation of the in vitro regenerated plants were studied on four commercial cultivars of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) viz., Diamant, Cardinal, Shilbilati and Lalpakri. The investigation was conducted at Rajshahi, Bangladesh from December 2010 to March 2012 to produce virus-free potato plantlets through meristem culture, shoot multiplications with root induction as well as their acclimatization and evaluation of morphological characters and tuber yield under field condition. Shoot tips of 25 - 30 day old field-grown plants of above mentioned four cultivars were used for meristem isolation. After isolation, meristems of these varieties of potato were cultured on “M” shaped filter paper bridge in Murashige and Skoog (MS) liquid medium. A wheat variety BARI Gom 26 was cultivated with an objective of evaluating the effects of macro/secondary nutrients as S and Mg, and micro nutrients as B and Zn on yield, yield contributing traits and nutrient uptake status by the crop. The field experiment was con-ducted in the “North Eastern Barind Tract Soils” at Kushadaha, Nawabganj, Dinajpur, Bangladesh from November, 2014 to March, 2015. The surface soil was clay in texture, having pH 5.61, organic matter 1.58%, total N 0.10%, available P 7.03 ppm, exchangeable K 0.11 meq/100g, available S 2.57 ppm, exchangeable Mg 0.55 meq/100g, available Zn 1.30 ppm, available B 0.08 ppm. The experiment was designed with five treatments laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments were T1: NPK (control), T2: NPK + S, T3: NPK + S + Mg, T4: NPK + S + Mg + Zn and T5: NPK + S + Mg + Zn + B. All plots of wheat received 100 kg N/ha, 30 kg P/ha and 70 kg K/ha as basal dose. The secondary and micro nutrients doses were 15 kg S/ha, 6 kg Mg/ha, 2.5 kg Zn/ha and 1.5 kg B/ha. Results revealed that the plant height, tillers/hill, 1000-grain weight, yield of grain and straw, uptake of some specific nutrients in grain and straw were signifi-cantly influenced by all the treatments, though these treatments did not show any identical effect on spike length, content of P and Mg in wheat. Significantly highest amount of 1000-grain weight, yield of grain and straw weight of wheat were obtained in applying T2 treatment that employed the addition of S with recommended dose of NPK. Significant positive effects were also observed for the rest parameters in receiving the treatments composed of secondary and micronutrients (T3, T4, and T5). The highest concentration of nutrient uptake N, P, K and S in grain and straw of wheat were also obtained due to the application of T2 treatment. Wear Displayed by the Scratch of Epoxy Composites Filled by Metallic Particles under the Influence of Magnetic Field

The tribological performance of the sliding bearings which are probably made of polymers, which is subjected to magnetic field, is of great intense. The wear of epoxy composites filled by metallic particles such as iron, copper and aluminum scratched by steel indenter is investigated. The wear scar width of the scratch was measured by an optical microscope. It was found that wear displayed by the scratch of epoxy filled by the metallic filling materials such as iron, copper and aluminum increased with increasing applied load. As the content of the metallic filling materials increased, wear slightly increased due to the reduction in cohesive stress inside the matrix as well as the epoxy transfer into the indenter surface might be responsible for that behavior. For epoxy filled by iron, when the magnetic field was applied to the contact area wear significantly decreased. Increasing the intensity of the magnetic field showed slight wear increase. Wear displayed by the scratch of epoxy filled by copper showed higher values than that observed for copper filled epoxy. Presence of the magnetic field might generate electric current at the contact area leading to an increase in the intensity of the electric static charge. Moreover, wear of epoxy filled by aluminum showed lower values than that observed for epoxy composites filled by copper and higher than that displayed by iron filled epoxy composites. Under the effect of magnetic field, wear significantly increased. This behavior could explained on the basis that the presence of magnetic field accompanied by the movement of the indenter in the epoxy composites generated electric current passing through the steel indenter which caused softening of the epoxy composites. In that condition removal of epoxy from the wear track was easier and epoxy transfer into the steel indenter was accelerated.
