Background The true risk of choronic villus sampling (C Vs) is poorly defined. The objective of this study was to review the clinical o utcome of transabdominal CVs performed in a university teaching unit, with an em phasis on the complication rate. Methods A comprehensive audit database was maintained for 1351 pregnant women, including 17 sets of twin pregnancies, who had a CVs. Details a nd outcome of all CVss made in the unit between May 1996 and May 2004 were revie wed. All CVss were performed by one of 5 operators using the identical techniqu es. Results All procedures were performed transabdominally. A tota l of 1355 CVss were performed because there were 4 dichorionic twin pregnancies which required 2 punctures. The mean gestation at CVs was (11.8±0.7) weeks, and 97.3% of the procedures were performed between 11 and 13 completed weeks. The majority (96.2%) required only 1 puncture to achieve correct needle placeme nt. The procedure failed to obtain an adequate sample in 4 subjects (0.30%). A total of 1351 chromosomal studies were requested and there was 1 case (0.07%) of culture failure. The results of chromosomal studies were available within 1 4 days in 36.7% of the cases and within 21 days in 94.0%. Overall, 77 chromos omal abnormalities (5.7%) and 5 cases of thalassemia major were detected. Preg nancy outcome was unknown in only 13 singleton subjects (0.96%). In the remain ing 1355 fetuses, there were 76 pregnancy terminations (5.56%), 10 fetal losses with obvious obstetric causes (0.73%), and 21 potentially procedure-relat ed fetal losses (1.54%). In the last group, the majority had one or more co-e xisting obstetric complications. The background fetal loss rate for pregnancies at similar gestational age in the unit was about 0.8%. Therefore, the procedu re-related fetal loss rate was estimated to be at the maximum of 0.74%. A vague-set-based fuzzy multi-objective decision making model for bidding purchase

A vague-set-based fuzzy multi-objective decision making model is developed for evaluating bidding plans in a bid- ding purchase process. A group of decision-makers (DMs) first independently assess bidding plans according to their experience and preferences, and these assessments may be expressed as linguistic terms, which are then converted to fuzzy numbers. The resulting decision matrices are then transformed to objective membership grade matrices. The lower bound of satisfaction and upper bound of dissatisfaction are used to determine each bidding plan’s supporting, opposing, and neutral objective sets, which together determine the vague value of a bidding plan. Finally, a score function is employed to rank all bidding plans. A new score function based on vague sets is introduced in the model and a novel method is presented for calculating the lower bound of sat- isfaction and upper bound of dissatisfaction. In a vague-set-based fuzzy multi-objective decision making model, different valua- tions for upper and lower bounds of satisfaction usually lead to distinct ranking results. Therefore, it is crucial to effectively contain DMs’ arbitrariness and subjectivity when these values are determined.

Assembly of IMPDH2-Based,CTPs-Based,and Mixed Rod/Ring structures Is Dependent on Cell Type and Conditions of Induction

Inhibition of guanosine triphosphate（GTP） and cytidine triphosphate（CTP） biosynthetic pathways induces cells to assemble rod/ring（RR） structures,also named cytoophidia,which consist of the enzymes cytidine triphosphate synthase（CTPs） and inosine-50-monophosphate dehydrogenase 2（IMPDH2）.We aim to explore the interaction of CTPs and IMPDH2 in the generation of RR *** La and COs-7 cells were cultured in normal conditions or in the presence of 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine（DON）,ribavirin,or mycophenolic acid（MPA）.Over 90% of DON-treated cells presented RR *** He La cells,35% of the RR structures were positive for IMPDH2 alone,26% were CTPs alone,and 31% were IMPDH2/CTPs mixed,while in COs-7 cells,42% of RR were IMPDH2 alone,41% were CTPs alone,and 10% were IMPDH2/CTPs *** and MPA treatments induced only IMPDH2-based *** were also transfected with an N-terminal hemagglutinin（NHA）-tagged CTPs1 *** 95% of NHA-CTPs1 transfected cells with DON treatment presented IMPDH2-based RR and almost 100% presented CTPs1-based RR;when treated with ribavirin,over 94% of transfected cells presented IMPDH2-based RR and 37% presented CTPs1-based RR,whereas 2% of untreated transfected cells presented IMPDH2-based RR and 28% presented CTPs1-based *** results may help in understanding the relationship between CTP and GTP biosynthetic pathways,especially concerning the formation of filamentous RR structures.

在中国经济面临结构转型和空间重塑的关键时期,探究资源型城市产业结构升级对土地利用效率的影响机理,对于破解资源型城市产业发展路径依赖与土地低效利用困境具有重要意义。基于中国115座地级资源型城市面板数据,运用产业结构层次指数与基于DEA的超效率sBM-Undesirable模型刻画资源型城市产业结构升级与土地利用效率的时空演化特征,通过面板Tobit模型探究资源型城市产业结构升级对土地利用效率的异质性影响及作用渠道。结果表明:①中国资源型城市产业结构升级成效显著,再生型、煤炭型和钢铁型城市升级效果更为明显。土地利用效率呈波动上升趋势,高值城市数量显著增加,以经济基础较好的再生型和成长型城市为主。②资源型城市产业结构升级对土地利用效率提升尚未形成普遍的驱动效应,其影响机制在不同类型城市中具有显著的异质性,仅再生型城市呈现显著的正向影响。③资源型城市产业结构升级通过经济产出提升、要素配置优化与环境污染控制等渠道驱动土地利用效率的动态演化。现阶段,土地经济产出偏低、用地结构失调、环境污染负外部性过高是制约资源型城市土地利用效率提升的主要症结。资源型城市转型具有长期性、系统性特征,应当因地制宜、因城施策,加快形成产业转型与用地转型的良性互动机制。

Extraction of 17β-estradiol in water using non-imprinted polymer submicron particles in membrane filters

17β-Estradiol （E2） is an endocrine disrupting chemical of harm to both animals and human beings at a low concentration level （ng/L）. It cannot be completely removed by wastewater treatments, and is often detected in both environment and drinking waters. The purpose of this feasibility study, towards environmental engineering in the field of water analysis and treatment, was to remove E2 by extraction using non-imprinted polymer （NIP） submicron particles. Experimental results showed that 0.5 mg/L of E2 could be completely extracted by adding 10 mg of NIP particles directly into 10 mL of water. However, the extraction efficiency decreased to 64% for 100 mL of water. prefilling the NIP particles inside a membrane filter showed a potential for water treatment of a large volume, requiring no effort to distribute the particles uniformly in the water. High extraction efficiency （80 ± 10）% for E2 was achieved for 100 mL of water. A total mass of 0.29 mg E2 was extracted from 1000 mL of water containing 0.8 mg/L E2 （by using only 10 mg of NIP particles）. Both efficiency and mass capacity can be increased, by scaling up the amount of NIP particles, towards environmental engineering applications.
