BACKGROUND Approximately 65%-78%of patients with a spinal cord injury(SCI)develop any symptom of *** aim of this study was to investigate the tolerability and short-term effects of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy(r ESWT)on plantar flexor spasticity in a patient with incomplete *** SUMMARY An 18-year-old man with an incomplete SCI completed five sessions of r *** primary outcomes were the changes in ankle-passive range of motion(ApROM)and passive resistive force to ankle *** outcomes were assessed at baseline(T0),immediately after treatment(T1)and 1 wk after the end of treatment(T2).The A-pROM increased by 15 degrees at T1 and 25 degrees at T2 compared with *** passive resistive force to ankle dorsiflexion at low velocity decreased by 33%at T1 and 55%at T2 in the gastrocnemius muscle and by 41%at T1 and 39%at T2 in the soleus muscle compared with *** high velocity,it also decreased by 44%at T1 and 30%at T2 in the gastrocnemius muscle compared with ***,in the soleus muscle,the change was minor,with a decrease of 12%at T1 and increased by 39%at T2 compared with *** In this patient,the findings showed that r ESWT combined with conventional therapy was well-tolerated and could be effective in improving A-pROM and passive resistive force to ankle dorsiflexion in the *** randomized controlled clinical trials with longer period of follow-up are necessary to confirm the results obtained in patients with SCI.

This work deals with a three-dimensional system, which describes a food web model consisting of a prey, a specialist predator and a top predator which is generalist as it consumes the other two species. Using tools of dynamical systems we prove that the trajectories of system are bounded and that open subsets of parameters exist, such that the system in the first octant has at most two singularities. For an open subset of the parameters space, the system is shown to have an invariant compact set and this is a topologically transitive attractor set. Finally, we find another open set in the parameters space, such that the system has two limit cycles each contained in different invariant planes. The work is completed with a numeric simulation showing the attractor is a strange attractor.

Our application of bionic engineering is novel： we are interested in developing hybrid hardware-wetware systems for music. This paper introduces receptacles for culturing physarum polycephalum-based memristors that are highly accessible to the creative practitioner. The myxomycete physarum polycephalum is an amorphous unicellular organism that has been found to exhibit memristive properties. Such a discovery has potential to allow us to move towards engineering electrical systems that encompass physarum polycephalum components. To realise this potential, it is necessary to address some of the constraints associated with harnessing living biological entities in systems for real-time application. Within the paper, we present 3D printed receptacles designed to standardise both the production of components and memristive observations. Subsequent testing showed a significant decrease in growth time, increased lifespan, and superior similarity in component-to-component responses. The results indicate that our receptacle design may provide means of implementing hybrid electrical systems for music technology.

It is well known that hierarchies of mathematical programming formulatlons with different numbers of variables and constraints have a considerable impact regarding the quality of solutions obtained once these formulations are fed to a commercial solver. In addition, even if dimensions are kept the same, changes in formulations may largely influence solvability and quality of results. This becomes evident especially if redundant constraints are used. We propose a related framework for information collection based on these constraints. We exemplify by means of a well-known combinatorial optimization problem from the knapsack problem family, i.e., the multidimensional multiple-choice knapsack problem （MMKp）. This incorporates a relationship of the MMKp to some generalized set partitioning problems. Moreover, we investigate an application in maritime shipping and logistics by means of the dynamic berth allocation problem （DBAp）, where optimal solutions are reached from the root node within the solver.

This study aims at investigating the effects of foliar application of aqueous solutions of La3+and Ce3+nitrates on soybean plants(Glycine max).First,we observe that Triton HW 1000 surfactant at 0.01 vol%reduces droplets contact angle and increases their drying *** greenhouse conditions,the foliar treatments do not affect chlorophyll content,plant height,number of leaves,number of pods,number of seeds per pod,and average seed ***,the treatments induce phytotoxicity since foliar injuries appear after the *** X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy combined to scanning electron microscopy shows that the leaf lesions are positively correlated to accumulation of Ce and La on the leaf surface and also promote structural alteration to the epidermal cells.X-ray absorption near edge structure shows that the La and Ce nitrates are partially bio transformed into oxides by the leaves which might explain the harmful effects.

Studies on litterfall and decomposition provide estimations of decomposition rates of different *** is key information to understanding ecosystem dynamics and changes in a scenario of global *** objective of this research was to assess litterfall production,the potential deposition of macro and micronutrients through leaf and twig fall as well as macronutrient—use efficiency in three forest ecosystems at different altitudes： a pine forest mixed with deciduous species（S1）; a Quercus ***（S2）; and,a Tamaulipan thornscrub forest（S3）.Total annual litterfall deposition was 594,742 and 533 g m^（-2） for S1,S2 and *** litter was higher （68%） than twigs（18%）,reproductive structures（8%） or miscellaneous material（6%）.Micronutrient leaf deposition was higher for Fe followed by Mn,Zn and *** leaf deposition was higher for Ca followed by K,Mg and *** though p deposition in leaves and twigs was lower than other macronutrients,its nutrient use efficiency was higher than Ca,Mg or *** and species composition determine litter and nutrient deposition,with higher values at mid-altitudes（550 m）.Altitude is an important factor to consider when analyzing litter production as well as nutrient deposition as shown in this *** production and nutrient deposition are expected to change in a scenario of global warming.

Dengue is a global health problem without current specific treatment nor safe vaccines *** severe dengue is related to pre-existing non-neutralizing dengue virus(DENV)antibodies,the role of T cells in protection or pathology is *** cutaneous DENV infection in immunocompetent mice we previously showed the generation of pNA+germinal centers(GCs),now we assessed the activation and proliferation of B and T cells in draining lymph nodes(DLNs).We found a drastic remodelling of DLN compartments from 7 to 14 days post-infection(dpi)with greatly enlarged B cell follicles,occupying almost half of the DLN area compared to*24%in na?ve *** clusters of proliferating(Ki-67+)cells inside B follicles were found 14 dpi,representing*33%of B cells in DLNs but only*2%in noninfected *** GCs,we noticed an important recruitment of tingle body macrophages removing apoptotic *** contrast,the percentage of paracortex area and total T cells decreased by 14–16 dpi,compared to *** randomly distributed Ki-67+T cells were found,similar to non-infected ***69 expression by CD4+and CD8+T cells was minor,while it was remarkable in B cells,representing 1764.7%of change from basal levels 3 *** apparent lack of T cell responses cannot be attributed to apoptosis since no significant differences were observed compared to noninfected *** study shows massive B cell activation and proliferation in DLNs upon DENV *** contrast,we found very poor,almost absent CD4+and CD8+T cell responses.
