Spatiotemporal pattern of climate change in the China-Myanmar economic Corridor from 1901 to 2018

The China-Myanmar economic Corridor(CMeC) is an important part of China's Belt and Road Initiative and an important area for global ecology and biodiversity. In this study, the annual and seasonal spatiotemporal patterns of temperature and precipitation in the CMeC over the past century were investigated using linear tendency estimation, the Mann-Kendall mutation test, the T-test, and wavelet analysis based on the monthly mean climatic data from 1901 to 2018 released by the Climatic Research Unit(CRU) of the University of east Anglia, UK. The results show that the CMeC demonstrated a trend of warming and drying over the past 100 years, and the rate of change in Myanmar was stronger than that in Yunnan Province of China. The warming rate was 0.039 ℃/10a. Precipitation decreased at a rate of -6.1 mm/10a. From the perspective of spatial distribution, temperature was high in the central and southern, low in the north of the CMeC, and the high-temperature centers were mainly distributed in the southern plain and river valley. Precipitation decreased from west to east and from south to north of the CMeC. From the perspective of the rate of change, warming was stronger in central and northern CMeC than in southern and northeastern CMeC. The rate of precipitation decline was stronger in the central and western regions than in the eastern region. This study provides a scientific reference for the CMeC to address climate change and ensure sustainable social and economic development and ecological security.

Observation of an anti-cyclonic mesoscale eddy in the subtropical northwestern Pacific Ocean from altimetry and Argo profiling floats

The comprehensive three-dimensional structures of an anti-cyclonic mesoscale eddy(Ae)in the subtropical northwestern Pacific Ocean were investigated by combining the Argo floats profiles with enhanced vertical and temporal sampling and satellite altimetry *** Ae originated near the Kuroshio extension and then propagated westward with mean velocity of 8.9 cm/*** changes and evolutions during the Ae’s growing stage(T1)and further growing stage(T2)were revealed through composite *** the composite eddy core,maximum temperature(T)and salinity(S)anomalies were of 1.7(1.9)℃ and 0.04(0.07)psu in T1(T2)period,*** composite T anomalies showed positive in almost whole depth,but the S anomalies exhibited a sandwich-like *** eddy’s intensification and its influence on the intermediate ocean became more significant during its *** trapping depth increased from 400×10^4 Pa to 580×10^4 Pa while it was growing up,which means more water volume,heat and salt content in deeper layers can be *** Ae was strongly nonlinear in upper oceans and can yield a typical mean volume transport of 0.17×10^6 m^3/s and a mean heat and salt transport anomaly of 3.6×10^11 W and–2.1×10^3 kg/s during the observation *** energy analysis showed that eddy potential and kinetic energy increased notably as it propagated westward and the baroclinic instability is the major energy source of the eddy *** variation of the remained Argo float trapped within the eddy indicated significant water advection during the eddy’s propagation.

Deep Learning-Based Radio Map for MIMO-OFDM Downlink Precoding

Radio map is an advanced technology that mitigates the reliance of multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)beamforming on channel state information(CSI).In this paper,we introduce the concept of deep learning-based radio map,which is designed to be generated directly from the raw CSI *** accordance with the conventional CSI acquisition mechanism of MIMO,we first introduce two baseline schemes of radio map,i.e.,CSI prediction-based radio map and throughput predictionbased radio *** fully leverage the powerful inference capability of deep neural networks,we further propose the end-to-end structure that outputs the beamforming vector directly from the location *** rationale behind the proposed end-to-end structure is to design the neural network using a task-oriented approach,which is achieved by customizing the loss function that quantifies the communication *** results show the superiority of the task-oriented design and confirm the potential of deep learning-based radio map in replacing CSI with location information.

The practical application of Li-S batteries is severely restricted by limited cycle life and low sulfur ***,a common industrial paint,methylated amino resin(MAR),was employed as a novel multifunctional binder to address these *** S cathodes by using MAR binder(S@MAR) demonstrate an excellent reversible capacity of 480.9 mA·h·g^(-1) after 400 cycles at a rate of 0.5 C,and the sulfur loading in the electrode could achieve as high as 3.0 mg·cm^(-2).These achievements are ascribed to the superior mechanical property for volume expansion,better adsorption ability toward poly sulfides,and more favorable Li+transportation of MAR,compared to the conventional binders of polyvinylidene difluoride and *** study paves a new way for obtaining high-energy-density Li-S batteries by the simple application of multifunctional binder that are inherently cost-effective.

Amelioration of weld-crack resistance of the M951 superalloy by engineering grain boundaries

Fusion weld is a portable and economical joining and repairing method of ***,weld cracks often occur during the fusion weld of Ni-base superalloys,which hinder the applications of fusion weld on this kind of *** this work,the effects of microstructures of grain boundaries(GBs)of the prototype M951 superalloy on its weldability were *** precipitated phases,the elemental segregations on GBs,and the morphologies of GBs can be largely altered by regulating the cooling rates of pre-weld heat *** decreasing the cooling rate,chain-like M_(23)X_(6)phase precipitates along the GBs,accompanying segregations of B,and GBs becomes more serrated in *** fusion weld,the engineered GBs in the M951 superalloy with a low cooling rate favor the formation of the continuous liquid films on GBs,which together with the serrated GB morphology significantly prevents the formation of weld *** findings imply that the weld-crack resistance of the superalloys can be ameliorated by engineering GBs.

Flash sintering(FS)is a novel technique for rapidly densifying silicon carbide(SiC)*** work achieved a rapid sintering of SiC ceramics by the utilization of ultra-high temperature flash sintering within 60 *** carbon(PyC)“bridges”were constructed between SiC particles through the carbonisation of phenolic resin,providing a large number of current *** incubation time of the flash sintering process was significantly reduced,and the sintering difference between the centre and the edge regions of the ceramics was minimized,with an average particle size of the centre region and edge region being 12.31 and 9.02μm,*** results showed that the porosity of the SiC ceramics after the flash sintering was reduced to 14.79% with PyC“bridges”introduced,and the Vickers hardness reached 19.62 ***“bridges”gradually evolved from amorphous eddy current carbon to oriented graphite carbon,indicating that the ultra-high temperature environment in which the sample was located during the flash sintering was successfully ***-high temperature flash sintering of SiC is expected to be applied to the local repair of matrix damage in SiC ceramic matrix composites.

Scaling of interaction lengths for hypersonic shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interactions

The interaction length induced by Shock Wave/Turbulent Boundary-Layer Interactions(SWTBLIs)in the hypersonic flow was investigated using a scaling analysis,in which the interaction length normalized by the displacement thickness of boundary layer was correlated with a corrected non-dimensional separation criterion across the interaction after accounting for the wall temperature effects.A large number of hypersonic SWTBLIs were compiled to examine the scaling analysis over a wide range of Mach numbers,Reynolds numbers,and wall *** results indicate that the hypersonic SWTBLIs with low Reynolds numbers collapse on the supersonic SWTBLIs,while the hypersonic cases with high Reynolds numbers show a more rapid growth of the interaction length than that with low Reynolds ***,two scaling relationships are identified according to different Reynolds numbers for the hypersonic *** scaling analysis provides valuable guidelines for engineering prediction of the interaction length,and thus,enriches the knowledge of hypersonic SWTBLIs.

Neutron penetration in labyrinths under different beam losses

Multiple analytical methods and Monte Carlo simulations were performed to evaluate neutron penetration in straight and curved labyrinths. Factors studied included variations in beam losses of off-axis point source,on-axis point source,and line source. For the straight labyrinth, it was found that the analytical expressions neglect the dose rate platform appearing at the bend of the labyrinth, and the agreement between analytical methods and Monte Carlo estimation was related to the type of neutron source term. For the curved labyrinth, the neutron attenuation length obtained under different conditions was nearly identical and appeared to be in quite good accord with the empirical formula calculation. Moreover, the neutron energy spectra along the centerline distance of the labyrinth were also analyzed. In the first leg, differences in beam loss led to variance in the distribution of spectra,while in the second and subsequent legs, the spectra were similar, where the main contributors were thermal neutrons. This work is valuable for practical design of the labyrinths in the accelerator facilities.

Structure-soil interface friction characteristics is of importance to investigate the interaction between engineering structures and soils,especially for offshore *** interface friction behavior between marine clay and structural materials with different roughness was studied in this paper by using 3D optical scanning tests,a modified direct shear device and numerical *** between the surface roughness of structures,water content and interface friction angle were presented by model *** increase of water contents decreased the interface friction *** interfaces with different roughness,the interface friction angles will be smaller than that of the soil when the water content exceeds a certain *** roughness of the interface and the water content of the soil are mutually coupled to influence the coefficient of friction(COF).This paper proposed a Finite element Method(FeM)to simulate the interface direct shear tests of structures with different *** surface models with different roughness are established based on the structure data obtained by 3D *** Coupled eulerian-Lagrangian(CeL)approach was employed to analyse soils sheared by irregular *** interface behavior for interfaces with different roughness under cyclic shear stresses was analyzed by FeM.
