Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

Background:Closure of an atrial septal defect(ASD)reduces right-side heart volumes by abolishing shunting with simultaneous improvement of the left ventricle(LV)ﬁlling and functions due to ventricular interdependence,thereby improving ***,studies conducted on atrial volume changes after ASD closure are *** magnetic resonance(CmR)is considered as the gold standard method for measuring cardiac volume and ***:We aimed to study the effect of transcatheter and surgical closure of secundum ASD on cardiac volumes and systolic functions as well as the fate of tricuspid regurgitation(TR),using CmR ***:We prospectively enrolled 30 adult patients with isolated secundum ASD who were referred to ASD *** evaluation of cardiac chambers indexed volumes,systolic function,myocardial mass index,and tricuspid regurgitant fraction were done at before and 6 months after ***:RV volumes decreased in both groups when compared to baseline(p-value 0.001),the device group had more reduction in volumes and more improvement in RV function after closure(p-value 0.001)when compared to the surgical *** changes in the RV mass index were insigniﬁcant between both groups(p-value 0.31).Functional TR improved to the same extent in both *** ventricular end diastolic volume index(LVeDVI)and LV mass index increased sig-niﬁcantly in both groups when compared to baseline in both groups but with no difference between groups p-value 0.01),left ventricular end systolic volume index(LVeSVI)changes were insigniﬁ*** systolic function improved in patients who underwent device closure only(63.53±3.85 vs.67.13±4.34,p-value 0.01).There was a signiﬁcant reduction in right atrial(RA)volumes and an insigniﬁcant decrease in left atrial(LA)volumes,with no difference between ***:Transcatheter and surgical secundum ASD closure resulted in volumetric changes in some cardiac chambers with better improvement in bi-ventricular

Plasma ignition threshold of nanoparticle-based and bulk silver targets was measured in air. The plasma was initiated by a Nd:YAG laser at wavelengths of 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The plasma ignition was monitored utilizing the prominent Ag I line at 546.5 nm. Lower ignition thresholds of the nanoparticle-based silver target were estimated at 0.4?±?0.02, 0.34?±?0.04, and 0.27?±?0.035 J cm^(-2) coupled with the different laser wavelengths, respectively. In contrast, the bulk silver target plasma exhibited an order of magnitude higher ignition threshold. A three orders of magnitude enhanced emission intensity from the nano-based target over the bulk target was achieved at lower levels of laser irradiation. A reduction of the thermal diffusion length of the nanosilver was assumed in order to theoretically predict this reduction in the plasma threshold. In addition, the effect of self-reversal on the resonance lines was taken into consideration.

In this paper, we consider the static output feedback （SOF） H∞-synthesis problem posed as a nonlinear semi-definite programming （NSDP） problem. Two numerical algorithms are developed to tackle the NSDP problem by solving the corresponding Karush- Kuhn-Tucker first-order necessary optimality conditions iteratively. Numerical results for various benchmark problems illustrating the performance of the proposed methods are given.

The main objective of this article is to study the oscillatory behavior of the solutions of the following nonlinear functional differential equations（a（t）x＇（t））＇＋δ1p（t）x＇（t）＋δ2q（t）f（x（g（t））） = 0,for 0 ≤ to≤ t, where 51 = ：el and δ±1. The functions p,q,g ： [t0, ∞） → R, f ： R → are continuous, a（t）〉 0,p（t） ≥0,q（t）〉 0 for t ≥ to,lirn g（t） = ∞, and q is not identically zero on any subinterval of [to, ∞）. moreover, the functions q（t）, g（t）, and a（t） are continuously differentiable.
