Flowers are composed of organs whose identity is defined by the combinatorial activity of transcription factors(TFs).The interactions between MADS-box TFs and protein complex formation have been schematized in the floral quartet model of flower *** gynoecium is the flower’s female reproductive part,crucial for fruit and seed production and,hence,for reproductive *** the establishment of carpel identity,many tissues arise to form a mature *** have been described as regulators of gynoecium development,and some interactions and complexes have been ***,broad knowledge about the interactions among these TFs and their participation during development remains *** this study,we used a systems biology approach to understand the formation of a complex reproductive unit—as the gynoecium—by mapping binary interactions between well-characterized *** analyzed almost 4500 combinations and detected more than 250 protein-protein interactions(PPIs),resulting in a process-specific interaction *** analyses suggest hidden functions and novel roles for many *** addition,we observed a close relationship between TFs involved in auxin and cytokinin-signaling pathways and other ***,we analyzed the network by combining PPI data,expression,and genetic data,which helped us to dissect it into several dynamic spatio-temporal subnetworks related to gynoecium development ***,we generated an extended PPI network that predicts new players in gynoecium *** together,all these results serve as a valuable resource for the plant community.

Frequent low dose alcohol intake increases gastric cancer risk: the Health examinees-Gem (HeXA-G) study

Objective:epidemiological studies indicate that alcohol increases gastric cancer(GC)risk,yet most studies have focused on heavy alcohol intake,leaving other factors understudied.A comprehensive investigation of the effects of the frequency and amount of alcohol intake may help elucidate the GC risk associated with drinking ***:The Health examinees-Gem(HeXA-G)study,a community-based large-scale prospective cohort study,enrolled Korean adults 40–69 years of age between the years 2004 and *** GC cases were identified through linkage to Korea Central Cancer Registry data until december 31,***-reported questionnaires were used to survey alcohol consumption-related factors(duration,frequency,amount,and type of alcoholic beverages).The frequency and amount of alcohol consumption were combined to explore GC risk according to 4 drinking patterns:“infrequent-light”,“frequent-light”,“infrequent-heavy”,and“frequent-heavy”.We used Cox proportional hazard models to estimate the adjusted hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs),and investigate the relationship between alcohol intake and GC ***:A total of 128,218 participants were included in the *** an average follow-up period of 8.6 years,462 men and 385 women were diagnosed with *** men,current drinkers showed a 31%greater risk of GC than non-drinkers(HR 1.31,95%CI 1.03–1.66),whereas no significant association was observed in *** men,GC risk was associated with a higher frequency(P trend 0.02)and dose of ethanol intake in grams(P trend 0.03).In men,the“frequent-light”(≥5 times/week andethanol/day)drinking pattern was associated with a 46%greater risk of GC(HR 1.46,95%CI 1.02–2.07)than the“infrequent-light”pattern(es/week andethanol/day).Conclusions:This study suggests that frequent intake of alcohol,even in low quantities per session,increases GC *** research is warranted to evaluate the relationship between alcohol and GC in detai

Perovskite laCoO_(3) is being increasingly explored as an effective low-cost electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction(OeR).Sr doping in laCoO_(3)(la1-xSrxCoO_(3))has been found to substantially increase its catalytic *** this work,we report a detailed study on the evolution of the electronic structure of la1-xSrxCoO_(3) with 0≤x≤1 and its correlation with electrocatalytic activity for the OeR.A combination of X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS)and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)was used to unravel the electronic density of states(DOS)near the Fermi level(eF),which provide insights into the key electronic structure features for the enhanced OeR catalytic *** analysis on the Co L-edge XAS suggest that laCoO_(3) has a low spin state with t_(2g)^(6) e_(g)^(0) configuration at room *** implies that the high OeR catalytic activity of laCoO_(3) should not be rationalized by the occupancy of eg=1 *** Sr^(2+) for la^(3+) in laCoO_(3) induces Co4+oxidation states and effectively dopes hole states into the top of valence band.A semiconductor-to-metal transition is observed for x>0.2,due to the holeinduced electronic DOS at the eF and increased hybridization between Co 3 d and O 2 *** an electronic modulation enhances the surface adsorption of the*OH intermediate and reduces the energy barrier for interfacial charge transfer,thus improving the OeR catalytic activity in la_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3).In addition,we found that the la_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3) surface undergoes amorphization after certain period of OeR measurement,leading to a partial deactivation of the *** Sr doping levels accelerated the amorphization process.

The development of high-resolution nanosized photoacoustic contrast agents is an exciting yet challenging technological advance. Herein, antibody （breast cancer-associated antigen I （Brcaal） monoclonal antibody）- and peptide （RGD）- functionalized gold nanoprisms （AuNprs） were used as a combinatorial methodology for in situ photoacoustic imaging, angiography, and localized hyperthermia using orthotopic and subcutaneous murine gastric carcinoma models. RGD-conjugated PeGylated AuNprs are available for tumor angiography, and Brcaal monodonal antibody-conjugated PeGylated AuNprs are used for targeting and for in situ imaging of gastric carcinoma in orthotopic tumor models. In situ photoacoustic imaging allowed for anatomical and functional imaging at the tumor site. In vivo tumor angiography imaging showed enhancement of the photoacoustic signal in a time-dependent manner. Furthermore, photoacoustic imaging demonstrated that tumor vessels were clearly damaged after localized hyperthermia. This is the first proof-of-concept using two AuNprs probes as highly sensitive contrasts and therapeutic agents for in situ tumor detection and inhibition. These smart antibody/peptide AuNprs can be used as an efficient nanotheranostic platform for in vivo tumor detection with high sensitivity, as well as for tumor targeting therapy which, with a single-dose injection, results in tumor size reduction and increases mice survival after localized hyperthermia treatment.

Acquired premature ejaculation and male accessory gland infection： relevance of ultrasound examination

We have previously demonstrated a high frequency of premature ejaculation （Pe） among patients with male accessory gland infection （MAGI）. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ultrasound （US） features of patients with MAGI and acquired premature ejaculation （APe） associated （MAGI-APepos）. US evaluation of 50 MAGI-APepos patients compared to 50 patients with MAGI without Pe （MAGI-Peneg） which represent the control group. The diagnosis of APe was made through the evaluation of Intravaginal ejaculation latency time （IeLT） and confirmed with the questionnaire PeDT （Premature ejaculation Diagnostic Tool）. The main outcome measure was represented by the frequency of US criteria suggestive of P （prostatitis）, V （vesiculitis）, and e （epididymitis） in MAGI-APepos and MAGI-Peneg patients. MAGI-APepos patients showed a total number of US criteria significantly higher compared to MAGI-Peneg patients. MAGI-APepos showed a higher frequency of US criteria of V and e （complicated forms of MAGI）. Finally, in MAGI-APepos group, it was found a positive relationship between the anteroposterior diameter （APD） of the caudal tract of the epididymis and the APD of the seminal vesicles, as well as between both diameters and the PeDT score. MAGI-APepos patients have a peculiar US characterization compared to MAGI-Peneg patients. According to these results, US evaluation of the epididymal and of the prostato vesicular tract should be considered in the practical clinical approach of patients with MAGI and APe. In particular, it could be a SUDDort for a possible Dathoahysiological interpretation of this clinical problem in these patients.

Factors affecting the dominance hierarchy dynamics in a hummingbird assemblage

Intra and in terspecific competiti on for n ectar play an imports nt role in hummingbird communities. larger sized species usually exclude smaller species from the rich floral resources. However, it has been recently postulated that the competitive advantages of a large body size decline as the evolutionary distance between the contending species in creases. In this study, we analyzed dominance hierarchy dynamics in a hummingbird assemblage in central Mexico. By monitoring hummingbird territories established in three plant species through 1 year, we assessed the effects of energy within territories and the territory owners identity in the frequency of inter and intraspecific encounters. We also evaluated if these factors affect the dominance of larger species when they compete against smaller distantly related contenders. Our results show that their frequency of intraspecific encounters was related with the identity of the territory's owner. On the contrary, the frequency of interspecific encounters was related with both the territory and the identity of the territory's owner. We did not find a significant difference between the number of encounters dominated by larger and smaller species and their conte nders. However, the in crease in genetic dista nee between contenders was positively associated with a higher frequency of encounters dominated by small *** results showed that the ecological factors and evolutionary relationships among contenders play important roles in the dominance hierarchy dynamics.

In recent years,there has been a growing need to understand how salinity affects microbial communities in agricultural *** and bacterial community diversities and structures were investigated by high-throughput sequencing analysis of their 16S rRNA in two arable soils with low electrical conductivity(eC)(2.3 and 2.6 dS m^(-1))and a saline soil(eC=17.6 dS m^(-1)).The dominant bacterial phyla in the soils were Proteobacteria(relative abundance(RA)=46.2%),followed by Acidobacteria(RA=13.1%)and Actinobacteria(RA=10.0%),whereas Serratia(RA=6.0%)and Bacillus(RA=4.0%)were the dominant bacterial *** Nitrososphaera(53.5%)was the dominant archaeal phylotype in the arable soils,whereas Nitrosopumilus(RA=0.4%)dominated in the saline *** archaeal and bacterial community structures were different between the soils and significantly correlated with soil sand,arsenic,barium,and antimony contents,but not with soil salinity.
