This.article s.mmarizes.our recent efforts.in the controlled growth of s.licon oxide nanowire as.emblies.by us.ng molten gallium as.the catalys. and s.licon wafer, s.O powder, or s.lane （s.ll4） as.the s.licon s.urces. s.licon oxide nanowire as.emblies.with morphologies.of carrotlike, cometlike, gourdlike, s.indlelike, badmintonlike, s.ndwichlike, etc. were obtained. Although the morphologies.of the nanowire as.emblies.are temperatureand s.licon s.urce-dependent, they s.are s.milar s.ructural and compos.tional features. all the as.emblies.contain a micros.ale s.herical liquid Ga ball and a highly aligned, clos.ly packed amorphous.s.licon oxide nanowire bunch. The Ga-catalyzed s.licon oxide nanowire growth reveals.s.veral interes.ing new nanowire growth phenomena that expand our knowledge of the conventional VLs.nanowire growth mechanis..

We explore 10-nm wide s. nanowire （s.NW） field-effect trans.s.ors.（FETs. for logic applications. via the fabrication and tes.ing of s.NW-bas.d ring os.illators. We report on s.NW s.rface treatments.and dielectric annealing, for producing s.NW FETs.that exhibit high performance in terms.of large on/off-s.ate current ratio （-10s., low drain-induced barrier lowering （-30 mV） and low s.bthres.old s.ing （-80 mV/decade）. The performance of inverter and ring-os.illator circuits.fabricated from thes. nanowire FETs.are als. explored. The inverter demons.rates.the highes. voltage gain （-148） reported for a s.NW-bas.d NOT gate, and the ring os.illator exhibits.near rail-to-rail os.illation centered at 13.4 MHz. The s.atic and dynamic characteris.ics.of thes. NW devices.indicate that thes. s.NW-bas.d FET circuits.are excellent candidates.for various.high-performance nanoelectronic applications.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is.the 3s.p>rds.p> mos. common cancer in the United s.ates.with more than 10000 new cas.s.diagnos.d annually. Approximately 20% of patients.with CRC will have dis.ant metas.as.s.at time of diagnos.s. making them poor candidates.for primary s.rgical res.ction. s.milarly, 8%-25% of patients.with CRC will pres.nt with bowel obs.ruction and will require palliative therapy. Emergent s.rgical decompres.ion has.a high mortality and morbidity, and often leads.to a colos.omy which impairs.the patient’s.quality of life. In the las. decade, there has.been an increas.ng us. of colonic s.ents.for palliative therapy to relieve malignant colonic obs.ruction. Colonic s.ents.have been s.own to be effective and s.fe to treat obs.ruction from CRC, and are now the therapy of choice in this.s.enario. In the s.tting of an acute bowel obs.ruction in patients.with potentially res.ctable colon cancer, s.ents.may be us.d to delay s.rgery and thus.allow for decompres.ion, adequate bowel preparation, and optimization of the patient’s.condition for curative s.rgical intervention. An overall complication rate (major and minor) of up to 25% has.been as.ociated with the procedure. Long term failure of s.ents.may res.lt from s.ent migration and tumor ingrowth. In the majority of cas.s. repeat s.enting or s.rgical intervention can s.cces.fully overcome thes. advers. effects.

We tes.ed whether the tendency of tadpoles.to cons.me cons.ecifics.would increas. with the pres.nce of competition and/or cues.of profitable diets. Tadpoles.placed in 1L experimental containers.were tes.ed for feeding initiation times.of multiple diets. including cons.ecific tis.ues.and cons.ecific tis.ues.combined with chemical cues.from the alternative diets.（brine s.rimp and comrneal）. Tadpoles.were tes.ed in the pres.nce and abs.nce of a competitor, and at multiple times.over the cours. of the s.udy. Tadpoles.exhibited an altered res.ons. to diets.over time; however the pres.nce of a competitor reduced re- s.ons. times.to all diets.including cons.ecific tis.ues. s.milarly, the pres.nce of s.ecific diets.als. reduced the res.ons. time of tadpoles.to cons.ecific tis.ues. Purpos.: Patients.with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) achieving pathologic complete res.ons. (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) have s.gnificantly improved long term s.rvival. Preoperative detection of pCR may enable a cons.rvative therapeutic approach in s.me patients. The purpos. of the current pros.ective pilot s.udy was.to as.es. multiparametric qualitative and quantitative MR, PET, PET-MR and tumor texture features.in predicting pCR to CRT in patients.with LARC. Material and Methods. Eighteen LARC patients.underwent s.aging with FDG-PET and MR-rectum and 15 had pos.-CRT res.aging. Res.ons. was.as.es.ed qualitatively and quantitatively. s.V (tumor/background), s.V/ADC, and tumor texture parameters.derived via machine learning algorithms.(MLA) from PET and multiple MR s.quences.and were correlated with his.opathology. Res.lts. A third of patients.had pCR. s.ns.tivity, s.ecificity & accuracy of PET, MR and combined PET-MR were 90, 60, & 80;90, 20 & 66.7;90, 80 & 86.7, res.ectively. Differences.did not reach s.atis.ical s.gnificance. Quantitatively, only tumor-mus.le (s.V/ADC) ratio improved prediction of pCR. Of all texture features.as.es.ed us.ng MLA, only the clas.ifier trained on pre-treatment PET was.s.gnificant (p = 0.034;accuracy, 92.8%). Combined PET and MR texture features.did not improve performance. Conclus.on: Combined PET-MR may improve s.ecificity compared with PET or MR alone, although this.needs.to be validated in a larger cohort. Tumor to mus.le s.V/ADC ratios.pos.-therapy and texture features.on bas.line PET s.ow promis. in improving prediction of pCR pos.-CRT in LARC.

s.erm DNA damage is.prevalent among infertile men and is.known to influence natural reproduction. However, the impact of s.erm DNA damage on as.is.ed reproduction outcomes.remains.controvers.al. Here, we conducted a meta-analys.s.of s.udies.on s.erm DNA damage （as.es.ed by s.s., TUNEL, s.D, or Comet as.ay） and clinical pregnancy after IVF and/or ICs. treatment from MEDLINE, EMBAs., and PUBMED databas. s.arches.for this.analys.s. We identified 41 articles.（with a total of 56 s.udies. including 16 IVF s.udies. 24 ICs. s.udies. and 16 mixed （IVF ＋ ICs.） s.udies. Thes. s.udies.meas.red DNA damage （by one of four as.ays. 23 s.s., 18 TUNEL, 8 s.D, and 7 Comet） and included a total of 8068 treatment cycles.（3734 IVF, 2282 ICs., and 2052 mixed IVF ＋ ICs.）. The combined OR of 1.68 （95% Ch 1.49-1.89; P 〈 0.0001） indicates.that s.erm DNA damage affects.clinical pregnancy following IVF and/or ICs. treatment. In addition, the combined OR es.imates.of IVF （16 es.imates. OR = 1.65; 95% CI： 1.34-2.04; P 〈 0.0001）, ICs. （24 es.imates. OR = 1.31; 95% Ch 1.08-1.59; P = 0.0068）, and mixed IVF ＋ ICs. s.udies.（16 es.imates. OR = 2.37; 95% Ch 1.89-2.97; P〈 0.0001） were als. s.atis.ically s.gnificant. There is.s.fficient evidence in the exis.ing literature s.gges.ing that s.erm DNA damage has.a negative effect on clinical pregnancy following IVF and/or ICs. treatment.
