Effect of the surface properties of an activated coke on its desulphurization performance

Commercial coke was modified by H2O2 and/or NH3.H2O to obtain an activated coke containing additional oxygen functional groups and/or nitrogen functional groups. The aim of the modification was to enhance the SO2 adsorption capacity of the activated coke. Several techniques, including total nitrogen content measurements, SO2 adsorption, XPS and FTIR analysis, were used to characterize the coke samples. The XPS and FTIR spectra suggest the existence of -CONH2 groups in the H2O2 plus ammonia modified coke. The SO2 adsorption capacity of an activated coke increases slightly with an increase in H2O2 concentration during the modification process. The desulphurization performance of a modified coke is considerably enhanced by increasing the treatment temperature during ammonia modification. The amount of nitrogen in a coke modified by H2O2 plus NH3.H2O is the highest, and the SO2 adsorption capacity of the coke is also the highest (89.9 mg/gC). The NH3.H2O (only) modified sample has lower nitrogen content and lower desulphurization capacity (79.9 mg/gC). H2O modification gives the lowest SO2 adsorption capacity (28.9 mg/gC). The H2O2 pre-treatment is beneficial for the introduction of nitrogen onto the surface of a sample during the following ammonia treatment process.

Aqueous zinc-halogen batteries are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to their abundant resources,intrinsic safety,and high theoretical ***,the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and spontaneous shuttle effect of active species have prohibited their practical ***,a double-layered protective film based on zinc-ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid(ZEA)artificial film and ZnF2-rich solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic *** ZEA-based artificial film shows strong affinity for the ZnF2-rich SEI layer,therefore effectively suppressing the SEI breakage and facilitating the construction of double-layered protective film on the zinc metal *** double-layered architecture not only modulates Zn2+flux and suppresses the zinc dendrite growth,but also blocks the direct contact between the metal anode and electrolyte,thus mitigating the corrosion from the active *** employing optimized metal anodes and electrolytes,the as-developed zinc-(dual)halogen batteries present high areal capacity and satisfactory cycling *** work provides a new avenue for developing aqueous zinc-(dual)halogen batteries.

Atomically precise metal nanoclusters(NCs)have been deemed as a new generation of metal nanomaterials in the field of solar energy conversion due to their unique atomic stacking manner,quantum confinement effects,light-harvesting capability and multitude of active ***,wide-spread application of monometallic NCs is blocked by the ultrashort carrier lifespan,uncontrollable charge transport pathway,and light-induced poor stability,impeding the construction of robust and stable metal NC-based ***,we report the fabrication of stable alloy(Au_(1-x)Pt_(x))NCs photosystem,for which tailor-made negatively charged l-glutathione(GSH)-capped Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)NCs as the building blocks are controllably deposited on the Bi VO_(4)(BVO)by a self-assembly approach for steering enhanced light absorption and interfacial charge transfer over alloy NCs-based photoanodes(Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)/BVO).The self-assembled Au_(1-x)Pt_(x)/BVO composite photoanode exhibits the significantly enhanced photoelectrochemical water oxidation performances compared with pristine BVO and Au_(x)/BVO photoanodes,which is caused by the Pt atom doping into the Au_(x)NCs for elevating photosensitivity and boosting the *** synergy of Au and Pt atoms in alloy NCs protects the gold core from rapid oxidation,improving the photostability and accelerating the surface charge transfer *** work would significantly inspire ongoing interest in unlocking the charge transport characteristics of atomically precise alloy NCs for solar energy conversion.

Hydrogen is a renewable and clean energy,and photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen evolution technology is a promising technical means to solve the development *** this study,the ternary composite Co_(8)POM@MXene–CdS hybrid catalyst was constructed and used for photocatalytic hydrogen *** the condition of AM 1.5G simulated sunlight,the photocatalytic H_(2) evolution rate of the ternary composite was 8.13 mmol g^(−1) h^(−1),which was more than 25 times higher than that of the bare *** means of synchronous illumination X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(SI-XPS)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,it was proved that the loading of MXene and Co_(8)POM improved the photogenerated carrier separation and immigration efficiency on *** photogenerated electrons transfer from CdS to ***_(8)POM containing the{Co_(4)O_(3)}quasi-cubane,as an oxidation co-catalyst,accepts photogenerated holes from CdS to catalyze the oxidation reaction of TEOA,which improves the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity and the stability of CdS.

Functional hyperbranched polymers,as an important class of materials,are widely applied in diverse ***,the development of simple and efficient reactions to prepare hyperbranched polymers is of great *** this work,trialdehydes,diamines,and trimethylsilyl cyanide could easily undergo multicomponent polymerization under mild conditions,producing hyperbranched poly(α-aminonitrile)s with high molecular weights(M_(w) up to 4.87×10^(4))in good yields(up to 85%).The hyperbranched poly(α-aminonitrile)s have good solubility in commonly used organic solvents,high thermal stability as well as morphological ***,due to the numerous aldehyde groups in their branched chains,these hb-poly(α-aminonitrile)s can undergo one-pot,two-step,four-component post-polymerization with high *** work not only confirms the efficiency of our established catalyst-free multicomponent polymerization of aldehydes,amines and trimethylsilyl cyanide,but also provides a versatile and powerful platform for the preparation of functional hyperbranched polymeric materials.

Psychometric Properties of the Shortened Committed Action Questionnaire(CAQ-8):Evidence from Classical Test Theory and Network Analysis

Objectives:This study aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the abbreviated Committed Action Questionnaire(CAQ-8)in a cohort of 1635 Chinese university ***:Participants completed the Chinese version of the CAQ-8 along with other standardized measures,including the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II(AAQ-II),the Valuing Questionnaire(VQ),the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales(DASS-21),and the World Health Organization Fiveitem Well-Being Index(WHO-5).A retest was conducted one month later with 300 valid ***:Exploratory factor analysis(n=818)identified a 2-factor structure,confirmed through validated factor analysis(n=817),showing good fit indices(CFI=0.990,RMSEA=0.040).Measurement equivalence across genders was *** CAQ-8 showed significant positive correlations with life satisfaction,mental health,and values,and negative correlations with depression,anxiety,stress,and experiential *** scale demonstrated good internal consistency(Cronbach’sα=0.76)and retest reliability(ICC=0.70).Network analysis confirmed the robustness of the 2-factor model,with item 4 in CAQ-8 identified as a core ***:The CAQ-8 is a reliable and valid tool for measuring committed action within the psychological flexibility model in Chinese populations.

Solar-induced water oxidation reaction（WOR） for oxygen evolution is a critical step in the transformation of Earth's atmosphere from a reducing to an oxidation one during its primordial stages. WOR is also associated with important reduction reactions, such as oxygen reduction reaction（ORR）, which leads to the production of hydrogen peroxide（H2O2）. These transitions are instrumental in the emergence and evolution of life. In this study, transition metals were loaded onto nitrogen-doped carbon（NDC） prepared under the primitive Earth's atmospheric conditions. These metal-loaded NDC samples were found to catalyze both WOR and ORR under light illumination. The chemical pathways initiated by the pristine and metal-loaded NDC were investigated. This study provides valuable insights into potential mechanisms relevant to the early evolution of our planet.

Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(HIRI)is characterized by mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative *** mitochondrial hydrogen peroxide(mtH_(2)O_(2))levels in real-time through super-resolution imaging is crucial for elucidating its distribution in live cells and its mechanism of action during ***,low-background fluorogenic probes have been overlooked in the context of super-resolution *** this study,we developed a low-background fluorogenic probe(MitoWG)with the potential for super-resolution morphology-correlated mitochondrial identification to track the fluctuates of mtH_(2)O_(2)in *** of the desirable fluorescence properties of the probe by mtH_(2)O_(2)was confirmed using structural illumination microscopy(SIM),enabling high-quality mitochondrial imaging with exceptional specificity and *** in mtH_(2)O_(2)levels were successfully observed in both cellular and rat models of ***,we associated the decline in mitochondrial redox homeostasis with accelerated mtH_(2)O_(2)production during HIRI,which triggered mitophagy deficiency and led to cell *** conclusion,Mito-WG possesses excellent photophysical and low-background properties for SIM imaging,making it a promising tool for mtH_(2)O_(2)tracking in HIRI research and clinical diagnosis.
