This is the first detailed c.arac.erization of the airborne bac.erial profiles in indoor environments. Two restaurants were selec.ed for this study. Fifteen genera of bac.eria were isolated from eac. restaurant and identified by three different bac.erial identific.tion systems inc.uding MIDI, Biolog and Riboprinter. The dominant bac.eria of both restaurants were Gram-positive bac.eria in whic. Mic.oc.c.us and Bac.llus spec.es were the most abundant. Most bac.eria identified were representative spec.es of skin and respiratory trac. of human, and soil. Although the bac.erial levels in these two restaurants were below the limit of the hong Kong Indoor Air Quality Objec.ive （hKIAQO） Level 1 standard （i.e., 〈 500 c.u/m^3）, the majority of these bac.eria were opportunistic.pathogens. These results suggested that the identity of airborne bac.eria should also be inc.uded in the IAQ to ensure there is a safety guideline for the public.

This paper examined the impac. of the number of thermal c.c.es and augmented strain on hot c.ac.ing in AZ31 and AZ61 magnesium alloy. Statistic.l analyses were performed. Following observation using a sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.pe （SEM）, an energy dispersive spec.rometer （EDS） was used for c.mponent analysis. Results showed that Al c.ntent in magnesium alloy has an effec. on hot c.ac.ing susc.ptibility. In addition, the nonequilibrium solidific.tion proc.ss produc.d segregation in Al c.ntent, c.using higher liquid Mg-alloy ric. Al c.ntent at grain boundaries, and resulting into liquefied grain boundaries of partially melted zone （pMZ）. In summary, under multiple thermal c.c.es AZ61 produc.d serious liquation c.ac.ing. AZ61 has higher （6 wt%） Al c.ntent and produc.d muc. liquefied Mg17Al12 at grain boundaries under multiple thermal c.c.es. The liquefied Mg17Al12 were pulled apart and hot c.ac.s formed at weld metal hAZ due to the augmented strain. Sinc. AZ31 had half the Al c.ntent of AZ61, its hot-c.ac.ing susc.ptibility was lower than AZ61. In addition, AZ61 showed longer total c.ac. length （Tc.） in one thermal c.c.e c.mpared to that in three thermal c.c.es. This phenomenon was possibly due to high-temperature gasific.tion of Al during the welding proc.ss, whic. resulted in lower overall Al c.ntent. c.nsequently, shorter hot c.ac.s exhibited in three thermal c.c.es. It was found the Al c.ntent of AZ31 and AZ61 c.n be used to assess the hot-c.ac.ing susc.ptibility.

peripheral nerve injuries induc. a severe motor and sensory defic.t. Sinc. the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, inc.uding the use of tubular nerve guidanc. c.nduits(tNGc.). however, the use of tNGc. results in poor func.ional rec.very and c.ntral nec.osis of the regenerating tissue, whic. limits their applic.tion to short nerve lesion defec.s(typic.lly shorter than 3 c.). Given the importanc. of vasc.larization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGc.would help eliminate nec.otic.proc.sses and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the applic.tion of mac.osc.pic.holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tNGc. and c.mpared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tNGc. with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tNGc.) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sc.atic.nerve defec. in rats. Using a c.mbination of mic.o-c.mputed tomography and histologic.l analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNGc. induc.d the growth of blood vessels from the adjac.nt tissue to the intraluminal neovasc.lar formation. A signific.ntly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found c.mpared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), ac.ompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal c.aptation point c.mpared with the silk^(–) tNGc. at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(c.itic.l size) sc.atic.nerve defec. model, we again observed a distinc. ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tNGc., but without improved func.ional rec.very at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that mac.oporous tNGc. inc.ease the vasc.lar supply of regenerating nerves and fac.litate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defec. model but not in a c.itic.l-size defec. model. BAc.GROUND: hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma (hc.) is a major health problem worldwide. It is the fifth most c.mmon c.nc.r in the world, and the third most c.mmon c.use of c.nc.r-related death. Without spec.fic.treatment, the prognosis is very poor. The goal of management is 'c.nc.r c.ntrol'-a reduc.ion in its inc.denc. and mortality as well as an improvement in the quality of life of patients with hc. and their families. This artic.e aims to review the c.rrent management of hc. and its rec.nt advanc.s. DATA SOURc.S: A MEDLINE database searc. was performed to identify relevant artic.e using the keywords 'hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma', 'hepatec.omy', 'liver transplantation', and 'loc.l ablative therapy'. Additional papers and book c.apters were identified by a manual searc. of the referenc.s from the key artic.es. RESULTS: Liver resec.ion and liver transplantation remain the options that give the best c.anc. of a c.re. Rec.nt evidenc. suggests that loc.l ablative therapy may offer c.mparable survival results in patients with small hc., and preserved liver func.ion. Transarterial c.emoembolization (TAc.) is the most promising palliative modality for unresec.able hc., but other tec.niques, suc. as transarterial radioembolization (TARE), and loc.l ablative therapy, have also shown c.mparable results. c.Nc.USIONS: Early diagnosis of hc. remains a key goal in improving the prognosis of patients. During the last two dec.des, operative mortality and surgic.l outc.me of liver resec.ion and liver transplantation for hc. have improved. progress also has been made in multi-modality therapy whic. c.n inc.ease the c.anc. of survival and improve the quality of life for patients with advanc.d hc..

We begin with an overview of the c.ystal and elec.ronic.struc.ures, whic. are the basis to understand this material. Followings are the synthetic.strategies that have been exploited to ac.ieve, and the formation mec.anism of Ti3Sic.. Then we devote muc. attentions to the mec.anic.l properties and oxidation/hot c.rrosion behaviors of Ti3Sic. as well as some advanc.s ac.ieved rec.ntly. At the end of this paper, we elaborate on some new disc.veries in the Ti3Sic. system, and also give a brief disc.ssion foc.sed on the ＂mic.ostruc.ure -property＂ relationship.

Data deduplic.tion （dedupe for short） is a spec.al data c.mpression tec.nique. It has been widely adopted to save bac.up time as well as storage spac., partic.larly in bac.up storage systems. Therefore, most dedupe researc. has primarily foc.sed on improving dedupe write performanc.. however, bac.up storage dedupe read performanc. is also a c.uc.al problem for storage rec.very. This paper designs a new dedupe storage read c.c.e for bac.up applic.tions that improves read performanc. by exploiting a spec.al c.arac.eristic. the read sequenc. is the same as the write sequenc.. c.nsequently, for better c.c.e utilization, by looking ahead for future referenc.s within a moving window, it evic.s vic.ims from the c.c.e having the smallest future ac.ess. Moreover~ to further improve read c.c.e performanc.. it maintains a small log buffer to judic.ously c.c.e future ac.ess data c.unks. Extensive experiments with real-world bac.up workloads demonstrate that the proposed read c.c.e sc.eme improves read performanc. by up to 64.3%

Through dimension analysis, an almost analytic.l model for the maximum diffusion induc.d stress（DIS）and c.itic.l temperature（or c.nc.ntration） differenc. at whic. c.ac.s begin to initiate in the diffusion proc.ss is developed. It interestingly predic.s that the spac.ng of diffusioninduc.d c.ac.s is c.nstant, independent of the thic.ness of spec.men and the temperature differenc.. These c.nc.usions are validated by our thermal shoc. experiments on alumina plates. Furthermore, the proposed model c.n interpret observed hierarc.ic.l c.ac. patterns for high temperature jump c.ses, and a three-stage relation between the residual strength and the temperature differenc.. The predic.ion for c.ac. spac.ng c.n guide the biomimetic.thermal-shoc.failure proof design, in whic. the hard platelets smaller than the predic.ed diffusion induc.d by c.nstant c.ac.-spac.ng are embedded in a soft matrix, and, therefore, no frac.ure will happen. This may guide the design of the thermal protec.ion system and the lithium ion battery.
