Objective:To examine the effect of anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)reconstruction on spinal-reflex and corticospinal excitability of the quadriceps ***:A comprehensive electronic database search was performed to identify studies that objectively measured Hoffmann reflex to muscle response ratio,motor threshold,and motor evoked potentials after ACL *** standardized mean differences(SMDs)were computed using a random effects meta-analysis ***:A total of 13 studies were eligible for *** Hoffmann reflex to muscle response ratio was significantly higher on both the reconstructed and non-reconstructed legs when compared with the healthy control leg(SMD=0.28,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.08-0.49,p=0.006 and SMD=0.22,95%CI:0.04-0.40,p=0.016,respectively)but did not differ between legs(SMD=0.10,95%CI:-0.01 to 0.21,p=0.078).The motor threshold was significantly higher on both the reconstructed(SMD=0.76,95%CI:0.40-1.12,p<0.001)and non-reconstructed legs(SMD=0.47,95%CI:0.00-0.95,p=0.049)when compared with the legs of healthy *** reconstructed leg also had a higher motor threshold when compared with the non-reconstructed leg(SMD=0.20,95%CI:0.06-0.34,p=0.005).These changes were paralleled by bilateral reductions in quadriceps strength(ACL reconstructed:SMD=-0.78,95%CI:-1.07 to-0.49,p<0.001;non-reconstructed:SMD=-0.32,95%CI:-0.63 to-0.01,p=0.042)and quadriceps voluntary activation(ACL reconstructed:SMD=-0.73,95%CI:-0.97 to-0.50,p<0.001;non-reconstructed:SMD=-0.55,95%CI:-0.82 to-0.27,p<0.001)when compared with healthy ***:There is increased excitability of the spinal-reflex pathways and reduced excitability of the corticospinal pathways following ACL *** changes are paralleled by reductions in quadriceps strength and voluntary activation,suggesting that rehabilitation interventions should focus on normalizing the excitability of neural pathways to effectively address quadriceps dysfunction aft

We report the case of a left laparoscopic nephroureterectomy with the incidental discovery of a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in one of the lymph nodes of the renal hilum. A laparoscopic nephroureterectomy was decided on for a 64-year-old man. Renal cell carcinoma in the kidney and one lymph node of the renal hilum with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was found. Chemotherapy was not started for the lymphoma discovery. There are no signs of relapse after two years of follow up. Coexistence in the same patient is an extremely rare condition. We review the literature about this issue to clarify this association.

Background: COVID-19 produced by SARS-CoV-2 infection has spread worldwide. There is a growing need for immunological assays to detect viral specific antibodies or viral antigen. Current standard of diagnosis is reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in nasopharyngeal swabs. However serological tests can be used to determine previous exposure to the virus and complement the diagnosis. IgM and IgG SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies can be detected as early as one week after infection and assays can be useful to test large groups of individuals. This work revised the available information concerning assays that detect antibodies and antigens for SARS-CoV-2. Methods: Three sources of information were used: technical data sheets (TDS) web pages of the company’s products and published articles in Pubmed with reference to the use of diagnostic kits. All the information was revised until April 5th 2020. Results: There were 226 tests coming from 20 countries mainly from China. TDS were found only in 50 (22.1%). Most assays detect specific antibodies (n 180) based on immunochromatography methods (n 110) and use blood-derived samples (n 105). Assays for antibodies detection measured mainly IgM/IgG (n 112) and the most common procedure time was in vitro diagnosis (IVD). A total 165 articles were found on PubMed 15 were included and only 4 used the commercial kits reviewed. Conclusions: Due to the urgency of producing diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 there is a broad offer of kits. Many tests need additional information for their application. The data collected may be useful in the selection of assays but more and higher quality information is needed.

Alkali halides crystals have been the subject of intense research. High order crystalline one phase mixtures （high order： more that binary） studied by TL （thermoluminiscence technique） proved having persistent peaks along the time after the radiation to which they are exposed. In general in alkali halide crystals the traps associated with highest recorded temperature peaks in the TL due to radiation damage have greater permanence in time too. These features are useful for dosimetric applications. In this work, temperature thermoluminescence glow peaks of ternary and quaternary mixed alkali halide crystals have been studied. The study has been focused on their high temperature glow peaks after being subjected to thermal treatments at 373, 573, and 673 K. The glow peaks of high temperature were isolated and studied 24 h and 48 h after irradiation. The parameters of the recombination processes associated to these peaks were obtained using a glow peak shape method. Orders of kinetics were higher than 1.0 and the activation energy greater than 1.2 eV. The results suggest that such materials have a high potential as dosimeter and energy storage materials.
