In the present work,zinc oxide(ZnO)and silver(Ag)doped ZnO nanostructures are synthesized using a hydrothermal method.Structural quality of the products is attested using X-ray diffraction,which confirms the hexagonal wurtzite struc-ture of pure ZnO and Ag-doped ZnO nanostructures.XRD further confirms the crystallite orientation along the c-axis,(101)plane.The field emission scanning electron microscope study reveals the change in shape of the synthesized ZnO particles from hexagonal nanoparticles to needle-shaped nanostructures for 3 wt%Ag-doped ZnO.The optical band gaps and lattice strain of nanostructures is increased significantly with the increase of doping concentration of Ag in ZnO nanostructure.The anti-microbial activity of synthesized nanostructures has been evaluated against the gram-positive human pathogenic bacteria,Staphylococcus aureus via an agarose gel diffusion test.The maximum value of zone of inhibition(22 mm)is achieved for 3 wt%Ag-doped ZnO nanostructure and it clearly demonstrates the remarkable antibacterial activity.

Volume instability of expansive soils due to moisture fluctuations is often disastrous,causing severe damages and distortions in the supported structures.It is,therefore,necessary to adequately improve the performance of such soils that they can favorably fulfil the post-construction stability requirements.This can be achieved through chemical stabilization using additives such as lime,cement and fly ash.In this paper,suitability of such additives under various conditions and their mechanisms are reviewed in detail.It is observed that the stabilization process primarily involves hydration,cation exchange,flocculation and pozzolanic reactions.The degree of stabilization is controlled by several factors such as additive type,additive content,soil type,soil mineralogy,curing period,curing temperature,delay in compaction,pH of soil matrix,and molding water content,including presence of nano-silica,organic matter and sulfate compounds.Provision of nano-silica not only improves soil packing but also accelerates the pozzolanic reaction.However,presence of deleterious compounds such as sulfate or organic matter can turn the treated soils unfavorable at times even worser than the unstabilized ones.

Does Glacial-Interglacial Transition Affect Sediment Accumulation in Monsoon-Dominated Regions?

The spatio-temporal changes in sedimentation rate along the continental margin of the monsoon-dominated eastern Arabian Sea during the last 24 kyr have been estimated from a compilation of 58 radiocarbon dated cores, in order to understand the effect of glacial-interglacial variation on sedimentation. The sedimentation rate has been computed for four-time slices, viz. the last glacial maximum, glacial-interglacial transition, early Holocene and late Holocene. We report that the average sedimentation rate in the slope to the abyssal region of the entire eastern Arabian Sea, although higher during the Holocene as compared with that during the last glacial maximum and glacial-interglacial transition, does not significantly vary during all four-time intervals. The sedimentation rate during any particular time interval, however, varies from core to core, thus indicating zonal changes. We report four zones of relatively high sedimentation rate, viz. the northeastern Arabian Sea, the region off the Gulf of Khambhat, the region off Goa and Mangalore, and off the southern tip of India. We suggest that a complex interaction of land-ocean-atmospheric processes controlled sedimentation rate in the eastern Arabian Sea during the last 24 kyr in such a way that the average sedimentation rate does not vary significantly, even during highly contrasting climatic conditions.

In a recent work published in Nature,Hu et al.1 report that a cocktail of three small chemicals is sufficient to induce totipotency in murine embryonic stem(ES)cells.Earlier this year,two other groups identified different mixtures of chemicals,which also seem to do this job,2,3 taken together this opens a new approach to capture totipotency in vitro,and to understand the underlying pathways and their interaction.

There are various intense forces causing customers to use evaluated data when using social media platforms and microblogging sites.Today,customers throughout the world share their points of view on all kinds of topics through these sources.The massive volume of data created by these customers makes it impossible to analyze such data manually.Therefore,an efficient and intelligent method for evaluating social media data and their divergence needs to be developed.Today,various types of equipment and techniques are available for automatically estimating the classification of sentiments.Sentiment analysis involves determining people’s emotions using facial expressions.Sentiment analysis can be performed for any individual based on specific incidents.The present study describes the analysis of an image dataset using CNNswithPCA intended to detect people’s sentiments(specifically,whether a person is happy or sad).This process is optimized using a genetic algorithm to get better results.Further,a comparative analysis has been conducted between the different models generated by changing the mutation factor,performing batch normalization,and applying feature reduction using PCA.These steps are carried out across five experiments using theKaggledataset.The maximum accuracy obtained is 96.984%,which is associated with the Happy and Sad sentiments.

BACKGROUND Human Wharton’s jelly-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cells(hWJ-MSCs)have gained considerable attention in their applications in cell-based therapy due to several advantages offered by them.Recently,we reported that hWJ-MSCs and their conditioned medium have significant therapeutic radioprotective potential.This finding raised an obvious question to identify unique features of hWJ-MSCs over other sources of stem cells for a better understanding of its radioprotective mechanism.AIM To understand the radioprotective mechanism of soluble factors secreted by hWJMSCs and identification of their unique genes.METHODS Propidium iodide staining,endogenous spleen colony-forming assay,and survival study were carried out for radioprotection studies.Homeostasis-driven proliferation assay was performed for in vivo lymphocyte proliferation.Analysis of RNAseq data was performed to find the unique genes of WJ-MSCs by comparing them with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells,embryonic stem cells,and human fibroblasts.Gene enrichment analysis and protein-protein interaction network were used for pathway analysis.RESULTS Co-culture of irradiated murine splenic lymphocytes with WJ-MSCs offered significant radioprotection to lymphocytes.WJ-MSC transplantation increased the homeostasis-driven proliferation of the lymphocytes.Neutralization of WJ-MSC conditioned medium with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor antibody abolished therapeutic radioprotection.Transcriptome analysis showed that WJ-MSCs share several common genes with bone marrow MSCs and embryonic stem cells and express high levels of unique genes such as interleukin(IL)1-α,IL1-β,IL-6,CXCL3,CXCL5,CXCL8,CXCL2,CCL2,FLT-1,and IL-33.It was also observed that WJ-MSCs preferentially modulate several cellular pathways and processes that handle the repair and regeneration of damaged tissues compared to stem cells from other sources.Cytokine-based network analysis showed that most of the radiosensitive tissues have a more complex network for the elevated cytokines.CONCLUSI

In recent years,social media platforms have gained immense popularity.As a result,there has been a tremendous increase in content on social media platforms.This content can be related to an individual’s sentiments,thoughts,stories,advertisements,and news,among many other content types.With the recent increase in online content,the importance of identifying fake and real news has increased.Although,there is a lot of work present to detect fake news,a study on Fuzzy CRNN was not explored into this direction.In this work,a system is designed to classify fake and real news using fuzzy logic.The initial feature extraction process is done using a convolutional recurrent neural network(CRNN).After the extraction of features,word indexing is done with high dimensionality.Then,based on the indexing measures,the ranking process identifies whether news is fake or real.The fuzzy CRNN model is trained to yield outstanding resultswith 99.99±0.01%accuracy.This work utilizes three different datasets(LIAR,LIAR-PLUS,and ISOT)to find the most accurate model.

Classification of imbalanced data is a well explored issue in the data mining and machine learning community where one class representation is overwhelmed by other classes.The Imbalanced distribution of data is a natural occurrence in real world datasets,so needed to be dealt with carefully to get important insights.In case of imbalance in data sets,traditional classifiers have to sacrifice their performances,therefore lead to misclassifications.This paper suggests a weighted nearest neighbor approach in a fuzzy manner to deal with this issue.We have adapted the‘existing algorithm modification solution’to learn from imbalanced datasets that classify data without manipulating the natural distribution of data unlike the other popular data balancing methods.The K nearest neighbor is a non-parametric classification method that is mostly used in machine learning problems.Fuzzy classification with the nearest neighbor clears the belonging of an instance to classes and optimal weights with improved nearest neighbor concept helping to correctly classify imbalanced data.The proposed hybrid approach takes care of imbalance nature of data and reduces the inaccuracies appear in applications of original and traditional classifiers.Results show that it performs well over the existing fuzzy nearest neighbor and weighted neighbor strategies for imbalanced learning.

A Mathematical Study on Three Layered Oscillatory Blood Flow Through Stenosed Arteries

A mathematical model is constructed to examine the characteristics of three layered blood flow through the oscillatory cylindrical tube （stenosed arteries）. The proposed model basically consists three layers of blood （viscous fluids with different viscosities） named as core layer （red blood cells）, intermediate layer （platelets/white blood cells） and peripheral layer （plasma）. The analysis was restricted to propagation of small-amplitude harmonic waves, generated due to blood flow whose wave length is larger compared to the radius of the arterial segment. The impacts of viscosity of fluid in peripheral layer and intermediate layer on the interfaces, average flow rate, mechanical efficiency, trapping and reflux are discussed with the help of numerical and computational results. This model is the generalized form of the preceding models. On the basis of present discussion, it is found that the size of intermediate and peripheral layers reduces in expanded region and enhances in contracted region with the increasing viscosity of fluid in peripheral layer, whereas, opposite effect is observed for viscosity of fluid in intermediate layer. Final conclusion is that the average flow rate and mechanical efficiency increase with the increasing viscosity of fluid in both layers, however, the effects of the viscosity of fluid in both layers on trapping and reflux are opposite to each other.
