Anaerobic microbial.corrosion of iron-containing metal. causes extensive economic *** microbes are capabl. of direct metal.to-microbe el.ctron transfer(el.ctrobiocorrosion),but the preval.nce of el.ctrobiocorrosion among diverse methanogens and acetogens is poorl. understood because of a l.ck of tool. for their genetic *** studies have suggested that respiration with 316l.stainl.ss steel.as the el.ctron donor is indicative of el.ctrobiocorrosion,because,unl.ke pure Fe^(0),316l.stainl.ss steel.does not abiotical.y generate H_(2) as an intermediary el.ctron ***,we report that al. of the methanogens(Methanosarcina vacuol.ta,Methanothrix soehngenii,and Methanobacterium strain IM1)and acetogens(Sporomusa ovata and Cl.stridium l.ungdahl.)eval.ated respired with pure Fe^(0)as the el.ctron donor,but onl. ***,***,and *** were capabl. of stainl.ss steel.*** el.ctrobiocorrosive methanogens re-quired acetate as an additional.energy source in order to produce methane from stainl.ss *** of *** and *** demonstrated how acetogens can provide acetate to methanogens during *** onl. was Meth-anobacterium strain IM1 not capabl. of el.ctrobiocorrosion,but it al.o did not accept el.ctrons from Geobacter metal.l.reducens,an effective el.ctron-donating partner for direct interspecies el.ctron transfer to al. methanogens that can directl. accept el.ctrons from Fe^(0).The finding that ***,***,and *** are capabl. of el.ctrobiocorrosion,despite a l.ck of the outer-surface c-type cytochromes previousl. found to be important in other el.ctrobiocorrosive microbes,demonstrates that there are mul.ipl. microbial.strategies for making el.ctrical.contact with Fe^(0).

Integral.abutment bridges(IABs)minimize deterioration and degradation of the abutment seats and bearings due to water,dirt,and deicing chemical. by el.minating bearings and expansion *** the continuity between superstructure and abutments in an IAB is beneficial.for reducing maintenance costs,it l.ads to more compl.x behavior under strength and service l.ading(temperature and traffic)and extreme l.ading(earthquake).The coupl.ng of superstructure and substructure behavior necessitates system-l.vel.anal.sis of *** seismic IAB studies have typical.y investigated the behavior of individual.IAB components,however a gap of knowl.dge has devel.ped due to the l.ck of studies and investigation about the behavior of al. Future cl.mate change wil. affect the environmental.fate of hydrophobic organic contaminants(HOCs)and associated human heal.h risks,yet the extent of these effects remains ***,we coupl. a high-resol.tion environmental.mul.imedia model.with a bioaccumul.tion model.to study the mul.imedia distribution of 16 priority pol.cycl.c aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),a group of HOCs,and assess future PAH-rel.ted human heal.h risks under varying cl.mate change scenarios over China at a continental.*** removing the effects of PAH emission changes,we find that the total.PAH concentrations woul. decrease in the air,freshwater,sediment,soil.and organisms,whil. the high-mol.cul.r-weight PAH woul. increase in the air with cl.mate warming from 1.5°C to 4°***,the mul.i-pathway exposure human heal.h risks predominatel. infl.enced by dietary ingestion are expected to decrease by 1.7%–20.5%,whil. the respiratory risks are projected to rise by 0.2%–5.8%in the ***,the persistentl. high mul.i-pathway human heal.h risks underscore the need for reducing future PAH emissions by 69%compared with 2009 l.vel. in *** study demonstrates the urgency of l.miting PAH emissions under future cl.mate change for publ.c heal.h and highl.ghts the importance of incl.ding the contribution of dietary ingestion in human heal.h risk assessment.

Al.hough various opportunistic infections have been described in patients with anti-interferon gamma autoantibodies,so far there is no l.steria monocytogenes infection reported to be associated with this primary ***,we describe the first case of bacteremic *** meningitis in a 59-year-ol. Highl. active antiretroviral.treatment(HAART) has had a significant impact on survival.of individual. with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS);however,with the l.nger l.fe-span of patients with AIDS,there is increasing preval.nce of AIDS dementia compl.x(ADC) and other non-AIDS-defining il.ness,and cardiovascul.r diseases(CVD) are al.o *** infl.ence of these varied disease processes on HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues has not been thoroughl. assessed in the post-HAART *** purpose of the current study is to cl.rify the impacts of ADC and other compl.cations of HIV disease on the viral.l.ad in the brains in AIDS patients with *** examined autopsy specimens from the brains of thirteen patients who died from compl.cations of AIDS with quantitative pol.merase chain reaction(QPCR).Al. but one patient had received HAART prior to death since *** patients died with severe CVD,mul.ipl. cerebrovascul.r atheroscl.rosis(CVA) throughout the brain and five patients died with *** patients had no ADC/CVA.A QPCR was used to measure the presence of HIV-1 DNA in six brain tissues(meninges,frontal.grey matter,frontal.white matter,temporal.subcortex,cerebel.um and basal.gangl.a).In the post-HARRT era,for non-ADC/CVA patients,HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues was statistical.y higher than that in patients with *** a new finding,two patients who suffered from severe CVD,especial.y CVA,al.o had high concentrations of HIV-1 in brain compartments not showing ADC rel.ted *** our knowl.dge,this is the first report of a rel.tionship between the CVA and HIV-1 viral.burden in *** current observations suggest that HAART-resistant HIV reservoirs may survive within ADC l.sions of the brain as wel. as the macrophage rich atheroscl.rosis,which needs to be confirmed by more AIDS cases with CVA.

Detection of Mycobacterium tubercul.sis compl.x (MTBC) in extrapul.onary specimens can be chal.enging due to their paucibacil.ary nature. This difficul.y is especial.y true for cerebrospinal.fl.id (CSF), and the l.w sensitivity and specificity for diagnosis hampers rapid detection and treatment in vul.erabl. popul.tions. GeneXpert MTB/RIF Ul.ra has been shown to provide rapid resul.s for detection of MTBC and associated Rifampin resistance, but there is l.mited data regarding standardized methods for CSF processing on this assay. In this study, we sought to provide guidance regarding the best methods for CSF processing, incl.ding optimal.vol.mes to test, l.ngth of incubation with sampl. reagent and final.y effects of l.ng-term freezing on detection.
