Synthesis,characterization,structures and magnetic property of chiral oxalate-bridged dicopper(Ⅱ) complexes

The oxalato-bridged dicopper(II) complexes [Cu2(μ-ox)(LRR)2(H2O)2(ClO4.2] (1),[Cu2(μ-ox)(LRR)2(CH3COCH3)2(ClO4.2](1a),[Cu2(μ-ox)(LSS)2(H2O)2(ClO4.2] (2) and [Cu2(μ-ox)(LRR)(LSS)2(CH3COCH3)2(ClO4.2] (3) [LRR = (8R,10R)-(-)-[4.5]-pineno2,2′-bipyridine,LSS = (8S,10S)-(+)-[4.5]-pineno-2,2′-bipyridine;ox2= oxalate] were first prepared.A possible mechanism for the formation of the chial dicopper(II) complexes was *** on elemental analysis,conductance measurement,UV-Vis spectra,CD spectra and X-ray single-crystal diffraction,the oxalato-bridged structures of 1 and 2 were deduced to adopt two Cu(II) ions and the bridged oxalate lying in the nearly same *** crystal structures of 1a and 3 reveal that the coordination geometry around each Cu(II) ion is an elongated and distorted octahedron and two axial solvent molecules and two perchlorate ions are anti to each other respectively in both binuclear *** solution CD spectra of 1 and 2 in the visible d-d range show very weak Cotton effects with peaks at 588 and 779 nm,which are approximately of mirror image,suggesting the optical activities may be derived from the vicinal effects of the chiragenic centers at the pinene group of LRR and LSS,*** 1 has been characterized by variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility and the data was least-square fitted to the Blenaey-Bowers *** exchange integral J was found to be -338.4.(4. cm-1,indicating a strong antiferromagnetic interaction between two copper(II) ions.

Electrocatalytic Oxidation of Hypophosphite on Nickel Electrode ──In Situ UV-Vis Spectroscopic study

The electrocatalytic oxidation of hypophosphite on a nickel electrode has been studiedby means of in site UV-Vis subtractive reflectance spectroscopy. An absorbency band around 24.um . which was ascribed to the formation of an intermediate, PHO2-, was observed in theelectrocatalytic oxidation process. Accordingly, the electrocatalytic oxidation of hypophosphitemight undergo a H abstraction of hypophosphite from the P-H bond to form the phosphoruscentred radical PHO2-, which is subsequently electrooxidized to the final product, phosphite.

Three Complexes of the formula [Cd (4.4.-bpy)_2 (H_2O)_2]_n. (pic)_(2n) (1) [Zn (4.4.-bpy)_2 (H_2O)]_n (4.4.-bpy)_n(H_2O)_n (pic)-(2n) (2) and [Zn (4.4.-bpy)_2 (H_2O)]_n (4.4.-bpy)_n (pic)-(2n)(H_2O)_n (3) (4.4.-bpy = 4.4.-bipyridine. pic = picric anion ) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and single-crystal x-ray diffraction. They all have infinite three-dimensional network structure. crystallizing in the monoclinic space group C2/c (1) and Cc (2.3).

Distribution and germination of viable diatom resting stage cells in sediments of the East china Sea

The abundance and temporal patterns of viable diatom resting stage cells in sediments of the East china Sea in 2006 have been *** abundance of viable resting stages was enumerated with the most probable number（MPN） ***,25 diatom species（including varieties） belonging to 16 genera were *** resting stage cells were common,on the order of 103 to 106 cells/g dry *** abundant taxa included Skeletonema marina,***,Chaetoceros curvisetus and Thalassiosira spp.,with Skeletonema accounting for 83.3% of the *** effects of temperature（10,15,20,25 ℃）,salinity（20,25,30,35 psu） and light intensity（0,300,4.000,8 000 lux） on the germination of resting stages in sediment samples were also *** results showed that light intensity had a significant positive effect on the germination of diatom resting stage cells（p 〈0.01） and that diatoms could not germinate in *** and salinity had no noticeable effects on the *** present study suggests that there are abundant diatom resting cells in sediments of the East china Sea,which could serve as a ＂seed bank＂ in the phytoplankton population succession and contribute to the initiation of algal blooms.

A New Catalyst for Hydrogen Transfer Hydrogenation of Acetophenone

A new C-2-symmetric diamine/diphosphine Ruthenium (II) complex, RuCl2P2N2H4. was used as an excellent catalyst to carry out the catalytic hydrogen transfer reduction of acetophenone. The conversion of acetophenone to 2-phenylethanol was up to 99% under the following reaction conditions: substrate:Ru:(CH3)(2)CHOK = 200:1:12; reaction temperature of 65 degrees C; reaction time of 2 h; normal pressure. A hydride transfer mechanism was also discussed.

Studies on the Performance and Structure of Supported Catalysts for the Partial Oxidation of Methane to Syngas

The catalytic properties of several supported metal catalysts on different carriers were studied in the partial oxidation of methane (POM) to syngas. In our experiment, supported noble metal catalysts exhibited better performance than the other supported transition metal catalysts. The catalyst performances were significantly influenced by the d-electron configuration of the active metal components and the dispersion of active metal components on the support. A catalyst with a moderate number of unpaired electrons in the d-orbital of the active metal support without obvious acidity or redox activity (e.g. MgO) was suitable for POM performance. The Rh/SiO2 catalyst was the best in the POM reaction, among those investigated. Reaction conditions apparently also affected the POM performance of the catalyst. The conversion of methane and the selectivity for CO increased with the reaction temperature, and a high CH4.O2 ratio was not beneficial for POM performance.

As well known, the origin of life on the earth is one of the most difficult scientific puzzles. In this paper, it was discovered that N-phosphoryl amino acids play an important role in the formation of peptides and proteins in aqueous solution under mild conditions. Due to inducement of N-phosphoryl amino acids, some different length peptides or proteins, such as Alanyl-Glutamine dipeptide , Growth Hormone Releasing Factor (GHRF), Bovine Insulin and Cytochrome c, were added one amino acid residue on N-terminal in aqueous solution (50mM Tris-HCl, 10mM Ca2+) after 24.or 14.h incubation at 37□. And, the added amino acid residue came from the N-phosphoryl amino acid, which was proved through LC-ESI-MS/MS and MALDI-TOF-MS. In the process, a pentacoordinated phosphorous intramolecular mixed anhydride may be the activating intermediate. The experiment results indicated further that N-phosphoryl amino acid is the core of peptide-bond formation, which not only could induce amino acid to self-assemble, but also induce the longer peptides or proteins to extend. This study also suggested that N-phosphoryl amino acids or its analogs could be taken for a molecule pathway in origin of proteins or other biomacromolecules in the early earth.
