The 3.(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and oil red O assays were used to examine the effects of genistein, daidzein and glycitein on the osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of primary mouse bone marrow stromal cells (MSCs) and the adipogenic trans-differentiation of primary mouse osteoblasts. The results indicated that daidzein, genistein and glycitein at concentrations from 1×10-8 mol/L to 1×10-5mol/L promoted the proliferation of MSCs and osteoblasts; genistein, daidzein and glycitein promoted osteogenic differentiation and inhibited adipogenic differentiation of MSCs, and inhibited adipocytic transdifferentiation of osteoblasts at appropriate concentrations as 17β-estradiol. It suggests that genistein, daidzein and glycitein regulate a dual differentiational process of MSCs into the osteogenic and adipogenic lineages, and trans-differentiational process of primary osteoblasts into the adipocyte lineages, causing a lineage shift toward osteoblast. Protective effects of them on bone may be mediated by a reversal of adipogenesis which may promote the proliferation, differentiation and mineralization of osteoblasts, and make adipocytes secrete less cytokines which may promote osteoclast formation and activation. In addition, the results also indicated that genistein, daidzein and glycitein may be helpful in preventing the development of steroid induced osteonecrosis.

The rate constants and equilibrium constants of ligand exchange reactions between his (alkylxanthato)palladium(Ⅱ),Pd(S_2COR)_2(R=Am,n-Hex,Bz),and bis(N,N-dialkyldithiocarbamato) palladium(Ⅱ),Pd(S_2CNR_2)_2(K=Et,n-Pr,n-Bu),in chloroform solution have been determined in a temperature range of 20—50°C by means of high-performance liquid *** was found that both the forward and reverse reactions are of second *** of the equilibrium constants K determined are 10.3.1.0,much greater than the value(K=4)calculated statistically which indicates that the ternary complexes are more stable than the binary *** experimental results revealed that the reaction rate decreases with the increase in the size of R and R^1 groups and the latter are more remarkable,consistent with the deduction of steric *** activation parameters of the reactions have been *** reaction series(11)and(12)(in the text)the isokinetic tempera- tures B=3.0±8K and β=3.6±15 K have been observed respectively.A plausiblemechanism in- volving an eight-membered ring intermediate has been proposed on the basis of experimental results.

The effects of La3. and Gd3. on the proliferation, differentiation and adipogenic transdifferentiation of rat calvarial osteoblast-like cells (ROB cells) were evaluated by MTT method, measuring the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and Oil red O measurement. Both of La3. and Gd3. inhibited the proliferation of ROB cells at all concentrations (1×10-5, 1×10-6, 1×10-7, 1×10-8, 1×10-9 mol·L-1). La3. at concentration of 1×10-5mol·L-1 significantly increased the alkaline phosphatase activity of ROB cells up to 3.folds (P3. inhibited the adipogenic transdifferentiation of ROB cells at all concentrations in a dose-dependent way. However, Gd promoted the adipogenic transdifferentiation of ROB cells at 1×10 and 1×10 mol·L . These findings suggested that the effects of rare earth elements on the proliferation, differentiation and adipogenic transdifferentiation of ROB cells were dependent on their concentrations and species.

Two ternary complexes Cu2A4[OP(OCH3.3.2 (A represents CH2=CH-COO- and CH2=C(CH3.-COO-) have been synthesized, and elemental analyses, IR, ESR, electronic reflectance spectra and magnetic studies were carried out. The single crystal X-ray diffraction shows that Cu2[CH2=C(CH3.-COO]4[OP(OCH3.3.2 is triclinic, with space group P1, a = 1.05128(13., b = 1.7559(5), c = 1.94479(3. nm, α =91.263.14)°,(β = 102.559(6)°,γ= 106.3.9(13.°, Z = 4 and R = 0.0668. Two copper(Ⅱ) atoms are bridged by four (a-methacrylate groups, and each copper(Ⅱ) atom is coordinated with a trimethyl phosphate molecule in the axial position, forming a distorted square pyramidal configuration. The symmetric center is between the two copper(Ⅱ) atoms, and the Cu-Cu bond distance is 0.26098(6) nm. The Cu-Cu distance and magnetic studies suggest that there exist anti-ferromagnetic interactions between the two copper(Ⅱ) atoms.

Method for preparation of chitosan immobilized on silica gel(CTS silica) was described. The CTS silica was used as absorbent for the absorption of nickel in water. The results showed that this absorbent had relatively high selectivity and strong affinity to nickel. The maximum absorption capacity for nickel can reach 667 mg/g of chitosan. Factors that affect the absorption capacity, such as pH, ion strength and the presence of calcium, EDTA and the mechanism of absorption were discussed in detail. The absorbent can be regenerated with acid and reused for several times. The recovery rate for nickel can reach 99 99%. This absorbent filled in a column can be used in nickel removal from wastewater and drinking water.
