What are the Acute Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Fractionated Response Time:A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Recently,there have been several studies that have examined the acute effects of aerobic exercise on cognitive ***,one precise indicator of cognitive function is response time(RT),which has two main components;premotor time(PMT)and motor time(MT).PMT is the time for perception,decision making and response preparation,while MT is executing the *** fractionated response time(FRT)instead of RT provides a more precise estimate of the location of the effect of aerobic exercise on cognitive or motor components of the *** is emerging evidence that shows an acute bout of exercise may improve ***,the purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to explore the acute effect of aerobic exercise on FRT by considering the effects of various cognitive function *** studies were included investigating FRT during and/or after aerobic *** results indicated that during exercise,PMT increased in simple reaction time and decreased in flanker task;MT decreased in choice reaction time;interestingly,RT decreased when it was assessed by choice reaction time and flanker task,almost similar to PMT and *** exercise,PMT decreased specifically in flanker and go/no-go ***,MT and RT did not change *** conclusion,as changes in RT are affected by both PMT and MT,FRT provides a more precise estimate of the locus of the effects of aerobic exercise on response time.

Exploring new and efficient photocatalysts to boost photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction is of critical importance for solar-to-fuel *** this study,through the in-situ growth method,a series of S-scheme mechanism Bi_(2)S_(3)/BiVO_(4)/Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S-DETA nanocomposites with good photocatalytic activity were *** extremely small size of Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S-DETA nanoparticles provides more active sites for photocatalytic *** order to solve the serious shortcomings of sulfide photo-corrosion,BiVO_(4) were introduced as oxidation catalyst to consume too many holes and improve the stability of the *** addition,the in-situ growth method produces the reduction cocatalyst Bi_(2)S_(3) during the BiVO_(4) and Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S-DETA recombination process,thereby improving the efficiency of charge transfer at their interface *** ternary composite unveils a higher CO_(2)-reduction rate(44.74μmol g^(−1) h^(−1))comparing with pristine BiVO_(4)(14.11μmol g^(−1) h^(−1)).The enhanced photocatalytic CO_(2) reduction performance is due to the special interface structure of the S-scheme Bi_(2)S_(3)/BiVO_(4)/Mn_(0.5)Cd_(0.5)S-DETA photocatalyst,which facilitates the charge separation at the interface and improves its photocatalytic activity and stability.

Physician versus Patient Perception of Physician Hospital Discharge Communication: A Preliminary Study

Background: Physician discharge instructions are critical to patient care because they are the link transitioning the hospital care plan to the home. We hypothesize that physician perception of discharge instructions communication is better than patient perception. Obj.ctive: In a preliminary study, to compare patient and physician perception of communication at discharge. Design: Observational, survey-based. Setting: 330-bed adult teaching hospital. Participants: Surveys were mailed to 100 patients discharged home and 49 internal medicine physicians responsible for those patients’ care. Each physician had between 1 and 4 patients surveyed. Measurements: Patients and physicians received anonymous 5-item questionnaires concerning physician communication at discharge. Patient surveys inquired about their physicians’ communication at the specific physician encounter, while physician surveys asked about the physicians’ overall self-perception of discharge communication skills. Results: Completed questionnaires were returned by 59 patients and 40 physicians. Physicians reported a noticeably better perception of communication than their patients regarding spending adequate time reviewing the discharge plan (83% vs. 61%, P = 0.027), speaking slowly enough to understand (98% vs. 80%, P = 0.013), using wording that could be easily understood (100% vs. 68%, P P = 0.008). Perception of discharge communication improved with physician experience for several survey items. Conclusions: This study provides evidence suggesting that physician perception of communication at discharge is better than patient perception. Future studies of larger sample size and direct patient-physician pairing focusing on patient satisfaction and outcomes are needed.
