The Voisey's Bay Ni-Cu-Co Sulfide Deposit, Labrador, Canada: Emplacement of Silicate and Sulfide-Laden Magmas into Spaces Created within a Structural Corridor

The Voisey's Bay Ni-Cu-Co sulfide deposit is hosted in a 1.34 Ga mafic intrusion that is part of the Nain Plutonic Suite in Labrador, *** Ni-Cu-Co sulfide mineralization is associated with magmatic breccias that are typically contained in weakly mineralized olivine gabbros, troctolites and ferrogabbros, but also occur as veins in adjacent *** mineralization is associated with a dyke-like body which is termed the feeder *** dyke connects the shallow differentiated Eastern Deeps chamber in the east to a deeper intrusion in the west termed the Western Deeps *** the conduit is connected to the Eastern Deeps Intrusion, the Eastern Deeps Deposit is developed at the entry line of the dyke along the steep north wall of the Eastern Deeps *** Eastern Deeps Deposit is surrounded by a halo of moderately to weakly mineralized Variable-Textured Troctolite (VTT) that reaches a maximum thickness above the ENE-WSW axis of the Eastern Deeps Deposit. At depth to the west, the conduit is adjacent to the south side of the Western Deeps Intrusion, where the dyke and intrusion contain disseminated magmatic sulfide *** Reid Brook Zone plunges to the east within the dyke, and both the dyke and adjacent paragneiss are *** Ovoid Deposit comprises a bowl-shaped body of massive sulfide where the dyke widens near to the present-day *** is not clear whether this deposit was developed as a widened-zone within the conduit or at the entry point into a chamber that is now lost to erosion. The massive sulfides and breccia sulfides of the Eastern Deeps are petrologically and chemically different when compared to the disseminated sulfides in the VTT; there is a marked break in Ni tenor (Ni content in 100% sulfide, abbreviated to [Ni]100) and Ni/Co of sulfide between the *** boundary of the sulfide types is often marked by strong sub-horizontal alignment of heavily digested and metamorphosed paragneiss fragments, developm

Anaerobic microbial corrosion of iron-containing metals causes extensive economic *** microbes are capable of direct metal-to-microbe electron transfer(electrobiocorrosion),but the prevalence of electrobiocorrosion among diverse methanogens and acetogens is poorly understood because of a lack of tools for their genetic *** studies have suggested that respiration with 316L stainless steel as the electron donor is indicative of electrobiocorrosion,because,unlike pure Fe^(0),316L stainless steel does not abiotically generate H_(2) as an intermediary electron ***,we report that all of the methanogens(Methanosarcina vacuolata,Methanothrix soehngenii,and Methanobacterium strain IM1)and acetogens(Sporomusa ovata and Clostridium ljungdahli)evaluated respired with pure Fe^(0)as the electron donor,but only ***,***,and *** were capable of stainless steel *** electrobiocorrosive methanogens re-quired acetate as an additional energy source in order to produce methane from stainless *** of *** and *** demonstrated how acetogens can provide acetate to methanogens during *** only was Meth-anobacterium strain IM1 not capable of electrobiocorrosion,but it also did not accept electrons from Geobacter metal-lireducens,an effective electron-donating partner for direct interspecies electron transfer to all methanogens that can directly accept electrons from Fe^(0).The finding that ***,***,and *** are capable of electrobiocorrosion,despite a lack of the outer-surface c-type cytochromes previously found to be important in other electrobiocorrosive microbes,demonstrates that there are multiple microbial strategies for making electrical contact with Fe^(0).

We look at the link between climate change and vector-borne diseases in low- and middle-income countries in Africa. The large endemicity and escalating threat of diseases such as malaria and arboviral diseases, intensified by climate change, disproportionately affects vulnerable communities globally. We highlight the urgency of prioritizing research and development, advocating for robust scientific inquiry to promote adaptation strategies, and the vital role that the next generation of African research leaders will play in addressing these challenges. Despite significant challenges such as funding shortages within countries, various pan-African-oriented funding bodies such as the African Academy of Sciences, the Africa Research Excellence Fund, the Wellcome Trust, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as initiatives such as the African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence and the Pan-African Mosquito Control Association, have empowered (or are empowering) these researchers by supporting capacity building activities, including continental and global networking, skill development, mentoring, and African-led research. This article underscores the urgency of increased national investment in research, proposing the establishment of research government agencies to drive evidence-based interventions. Collaboration between governments and scientific communities, sustained by pan-African funding bodies, is crucial. Through these efforts, African nations are likely to enhance the resilience and adaptive capacity of their systems and communities by navigating these challenges effectively, fostering scientific excellence and implementing transformative solutions against climate-sensitive vector-borne diseases.

全科医生作为居民健康“守门人”,在基层糖尿病等慢性疾病管理中发挥着重要作用。糖尿病管理可以延缓病情进展、减少糖尿病并发症和改善患者健康结局,这需要患者和医生之间的有效沟通并互相协作。全科医生具备良好的沟通能力有助于与糖尿病患者建立长期的照护关系、帮助患者建立有效的自我管理技能。本文总结了本研究团队在多种理论框架指导下的全科医生糖尿病沟通技能培训的设计和开发:基于系统综述发现的循证依据,通过定性研究进一步探索糖尿病患者与全科医生的沟通体验和想法,以及混合方法研究设计理念获取全科医学对于医患沟通培训内容的优先排序,旨在为高质量的基层糖尿病管理提供新思路,并为基于证据和医学教育框架设计全科医生相关培训项目提供借鉴。

TABS: Transforming automatically BPMN models into blockchain smart contracts

Research on blockchains addresses multiple issues,with one being the automated creation of smart *** smart contract methods is more difficult than mainstream software development as the underlying blockchain infrastructure poses additional *** report on a new approach to developing smart contracts with the objective of automating the process to increase developer efficiency and reduce the risk of errors introduced by software *** support industry adoption,we use Business Process Model and Notation(BPMN)modeling to describe an application while targeting applications in the trade *** describe a system that transforms a BPMN model into a multi-modal model that combines Discrete Event(DE)modeling for concurrency with Hierarchical State Machines(HSMs)to represent application ***,further transformations are used to transform the DE-HSM model into methods in smart *** system lets the modeler decide which of the independent patterns should be transformed into methods of a separate smart contract that is deployed on a sidechain for the purpose of(i)reducing processing costs and/or(ii)providing privacy so that other participants in the smart contract do not have visibility into the processing of the *** also briefly describe a proof-of-concept tool we built to demonstrate the feasibility of our approach.

Femoral neck stress fracture and medial tibial stress syndrome following high intensity interval training: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Femoral and tibial stress injuries are commonly found in long distance running *** fractures have rarely been reported in athletes performing high intensity interval training(HIIT)*** objective of this study was to report a case of a patient who presented with medial tibial stress syndrome and femoral neck stress fracture after performing HIIT *** SUMMARY A 26 year old female presented with bilateral medial tibial *** had been performing HIIT exercise for 45 min,five times weekly,for a seven month *** tibial pain was gradual in onset,and was now severe and worse on exercise,despite six weeks of *** resonance imaging(MRI)revealed bilateral medial tibial stress *** she was taking norethisterone for birth control,a dual energy X-ray absorbitometry scan was performed which demonstrated normal bone mineral density of her lumbar spine and femoral *** was managed conservatively with analgesia and physiotherapy,but continued to exercise against medical *** presented again six months later with severe right hip *** of her right hip demonstrated an incomplete stress fracture of her subtrochanteric *** symptoms resolved with strict rest and *** HIIT may cause stress injury of the tibia and femur in young individuals.

Historical trends of degradation,loss,and recovery in the tropical forest reserves of Ghana

The Upper Guinean Forest region of West Africa,a globally significant biodiversity hotspot,is among the driest and most human-impacted tropical *** used Landsat to study forest degradation,loss,and recovery in the forest reserves of Ghana from 2003 to *** canopy cover maps were generated using random forests and results were temporally segmented using the LandTrendr *** cover was predicted with a predicted-observed r2 of 0.76,mean absolute error of 12.8%,and mean error of 1.3%.Forest degradation,loss,and recovery were identified as transitions between closed(>60%cover),open(15–60%cover)and low tree cover(<15%cover)*** was relatively slow from 2003 to 2015,but there was more disturbance than recovery resulting in a gradual decline in closed canopy *** 2016,widespread fires associated with El Niño drought caused forest loss and degradation across more than 12%of the moist semi-deciduous and upland evergreen forest *** workflow was implemented in Google Earth Engine,allowing stakeholders to visualize the results and download *** about historical disturbances will help to prioritize locations for future studies and target forest protection and restoration activities aimed at increasing resilience.
