Barosinusitis due to routine weather changes:A cross-sectional analysis of public websites

Background:Sinusitis is a common diagnosis that can be erroneously associated with routine weather‐related barometric pressure *** actuality,these pressure changes likely exacerbate migraine headaches,which can cause facial pain and pressure rather than true sinus ***:The present study sought to characterize the representation of both sinusitis and migraine in association with barometric pressure changes across websites on the ***:An Internet search for relevant terms was conducted,and content of the resulting pages was assessed for associations between weather‐related pressure changes and either sinusitis or *** in reported results across different subtypes of Internet sources were *** primary outcomes measured were(1)whether a given media source associated barometric weather changes with sinusitis,(2)whether that source associated barometric weather changes with migraine,and(3)treatment options offered by that ***:Of the 116 included webpages,36(31.03%)associated sinusitis and routine barometric pressure *** these,10(27.77%)were otolaryngology practice ***‐seven webpages(57.76%)associated migraine and routine barometric pressure *** these,nonotolaryngology webpages were more likely to report this ***:Otolaryngology practice sites were observed to be the most frequent professional medical resource reporting the unsubstantiated claim that routine barometric pressure changes are associated with *** sources were more likely to link weather‐related pressure changes to *** results suggest that opportunities exist for otolaryngology practice sites to educate patients about nonrhinogenic headache etiologies.

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR)poses a critical threat to global health and development,with environmental factors—particularly in urban areas—contributing significantly to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).However,most research to date has been conducted at a local level,leaving significant gaps in our understanding of the global status of antibiotic resistance in urban *** address this issue,we thoroughly analyzed a total of 86,213 ARGs detected within 4,728 metagenome samples,which were collected by the Meta SUB International Consortium involving diverse urban environments in 60 cities of 27 countries,utilizing a deep-learning based *** findings demonstrated the strong geographical specificity of urban environmental resistome,and their correlation with various local socioeconomic and medical *** also identified distinctive evolutionary patterns of ARG-related biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)across different countries,and discovered that the urban environment represents a rich source of novel *** study provides a comprehensive overview of the global urban environmental resistome,and fills a significant gap in our knowledge of large-scale urban antibiotic resistome analysis.

How profitable is switchgrass in Illinois, USA? An economic definition of marginal land

Background:Decisions regarding the conversion of land from an existing crop to bioenergy crops are critical for the sustainable production of both food and *** study seeks to establish criteria for delineating land as“economically marginal”,and thus suited for growing ***:In this case study of an Illinois agricultural field,the profitability of switchgrass,with farmgate prices of$44 Mg−1,$66 Mg−1,or$88 Mg−1,was compared to corn and soybean crop ***,the study also evaluates the profitability of switchgrass when replacing corn‐based yield estimates from the Soil Productivity Index(SPI)of ***:Based on a dry‐matter yield of 10.45 Mg ha−1,switchgrass can compete with soybeans only at the high price of$88 Mg−1,but depending on location,can compete with corn at$66 Mg−*** Illinois,at$88 ha−1,all Illinois land with SPIwn in the SPI class A(SPI>133)and only 7%of class B(SPI 117–132).Conclusions:Our results show that land with drainage and erosion limitations is economically marginal when corn and soybean yields are low,and the farmgate price for switchgrass is greater than$66 Mg−***,this may not be possible on land where switchgrass is replacing frequent soybean rotations(corn–soybean ratio≤1).Land used to produce only soybeans may only be marginal at the farmgate price of$88 Mg−*** studies need to be conducted to identify how much land can be converted to switchgrass without harming corn production.

Background we previously demonstrated that the aqueous extract of the Schizandra chinensis fruit （AESC） ameliorated Cd-induced depletion of monoamine neurotransmitters in the brain through antioxidant *** the present study,we investigated the effect of AESC on anxiety-like behavior and the levels of norepinephrine and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylglycol （a metabolite of norepinephrine） in different brain regions during ethanol withdrawal in *** Male Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with 3 g/kg of ethanol （20％,w/v） or saline by daily intraperitoneal injection for 28 days followed by three days of *** withdrawal,rats were given AESC （100 *** 1.d-1 or 300 *** 1·d1,P.O.） once a day for three *** minutes after the final dose of AESC,the anxiogenic response was evaluated using an elevated plus maze,and the plasma corticosterone levels were examined by ***,the concentrations of norepinephrine and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-phenylglycol in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus and hippocampus were also measured by high performance liquid *** Rats undergoing ethanol withdrawal exhibited substantial anxiety-like behavior,which was characterized by both the decrease in time spent in the open arms of the elevated plus maze and the increased level of corticosterone secretion,which were greatly attenuated by doses of AESC in a dose-dependent *** high performance liquid chromatography analysis revealed that ethanol withdrawal significantly increased norepinephrine and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-phenylglycol levels in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus,while not significantly altering them in the *** to the results from the elevated plus maze test,the AESC significantly inhibited the elevation of norepinephrine and its metabolite in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus in a dose-dependent *** These results suggest that AESC attenuates anxiety-like behavior induced b

以TRACE-P污染源资料及上海市地方排放清单为基础,采用Models-3/CMAQ环境空气质量模型和中尺度气象模式MM5,模拟研究了2001-01和2001-07长三角近地面二次污染物O3及PM10的浓度分布及输送状况,并以上海市国控点2001年冬、夏季各10 d的小时监测数据对模型进行了验证.验证结果显示,Models-3/CMAQ对O3和PM10的模拟结果与监测值的相关系数分别为0.77和0.52;一致性指数分别达到0.81和0.99.模型对O3小时最高浓度的估算偏低27%,标准偏差为-3.1%;对PM10小时平均浓度的估算偏低10%,标准偏差为46%.模型已具备再现和模拟长三角大气污染输送过程的能力,且误差落在可接受的范围之内.模拟结果显示,2001-07长三角区域16个主要城市中,有14个城市O3小时最大浓度超过国家二级标准,高浓度O3可覆盖苏南和浙北广大区域.2001-01泰州、扬州、南京、镇江、常州等城市受本地排放源和北部大气污染输送的影响显著,大气PM10日均浓度超过PM10国家二级标准.长三角地区环境空气质量与污染类型受大气污染传输与化学转化的影响十分明显.夏季太阳辐射较强时,南部城市排放的污染物常以二次污染物的形式影响下风向城市;太阳辐射较弱的情况下,则以一次污染物输送为主的形式影响周边地区.冬季长三角区域颗粒物污染总体水平较高,这与我国北方地区排放的颗粒物在西北风作用下向长三角输送造成的影响密切相关.长三角地区的大气污染已逐渐从局地转为区域问题.

选用美国国家环保局第3代空气质量模式（Models-3，／CMAQ），配合中尺度气象模式（MM5）进行研究，模拟了2001年1、7月份长江三角洲区域冬夏季典型天气条件下大气层二次污染物臭氧及颗粒物的浓度分布及输送状况。采用2001年冬．夏季各10d的小时监测数据对模式验证。结果表明，Models-3／CMAQ对O3、PM10的模拟相关系数分别为0．77和052；一致性指数分别达到081和0．99。模型对于O3略微低估，标准偏差为-31％，而对于PM10则有所高估，标准偏差为46％。对长三角7月份O3浓度及1月份PM10的模拟结果显示，7月份长三角区域16个主要城市O3日均浓度集中在0．043～0．086mg／m^3之间，其中，泰州、扬州．湖州、镇江O3月日均浓度相对较高，均超过0．064mg／m3o模拟时段内O3最高小时浓度达0．276mg／m^3。1月份整个模拟区域PM10月日均浓度为O056mg／m^3，其中，南京市PM10日均浓度最高，达0．080mg／m^3模拟时段内PM10最高小时浓度达0.432mg／m^3研究表明，长三角地区存在明显的污染物输送现象，大气污染已经从局地污染转化为区域污染。
